  • With slimmer, lighter and all-reflective imaging systems in high demand for consumer and military applications, coaxially folded optical image systems are widely considered because they can extend focal length and reduce track length. Most of these systems consist of multiple surfaces, and these surfaces are machined on one element or grouping processing on two elements. In this paper, we report and first experimentally demonstrate an all-aluminum all-reflective optical system which consists of two optical elements, with two high order aspherical surfaces in each element. The coaxially folded system is designed with Seidel aberration theory and advanced optimization with Zemax. The system is made of all-aluminum material processing by single point diamond turning (SPDT). On this basis, we completed the system integration and performed an imaging experiment. The final system has the advantages of short track length and long focal length and broad application prospects in the micro-unmanned aerial vehicle field.

  • Recently, Vecna BEAR type robot to save injured individuals from inaccessible areas has been developed to minimize the loss of life. Because this robot is driven on rough terrain, there is a risk of rollover and vibration, which could impact the injured. In order to guarantee its stability, an algorithm is required that can estimate the speed limits for various environments in real time. Therefore, a dynamic model for real-time analysis is needed for this algorithm. Because the tracks used as the driving component of Vecna BEAR type robot consist of many parts, it is impossible to analyze the multibody tracks in real time. Thus, a lumped track model that satisfies the requirements of a short computation time and adequate accuracy is required. This study performed lumped track modeling, and the traction force was verified using RecurDyn, which is a dynamic commercial program.

  • This paper introduces a study of improvement for a defect diagnosis of the UM71C track circuit using on HSL. The track circuit on HSL has long operation section. Therefore, when the worker maintain, many times and efforts are spent. So, periodically, we have operated a inspection car. However, we don't know exactly the state changed of the inspection data when track circuit has defect. Actually, We fixed a sample area within operation section on HSL and performed the simulations for short circuit current that is reflected characteristic impedance and propagation factor. We compared the measuring data with the result of the simulation. Using verified simulation program, we estimated inspection data as the malfunction number and the change of capacity of compensation capacitor. These study need to secure of the safety as the train operation. Also, It needs to make a criteria of analysis for the maintenance through comparison simulation data and inspection data.

  • To straighten the path that farm machinery follows in paddy fields, it is necessary to measure and evaluate the tracks that these machines leave behind. However, there are no known methods for making such measurements and evaluations since it is difficult to accurately trace the paths that the machine make in paddy fields. Therefore, a measuring system has been developed which can accurately recored the path of a farm machinery in a field by measuring the horizontal straight-line distance from the side of the field to the machine. This system consists of a track subsystem on the machine and a range finder system. A measuring appraratus is installed on a flatcar which runs on rails over 50 m long at the side of the filed. The track subsystem uses a CCD camera to track the movement of the machine in the field which is following a lengthwise path. The range finder subsystem measures the distance that the measuring apparatus has traveled on the rails and the distance from the app ratus to the machine in the field. This system makes it possible to record the path that the machine travels. Even though differences in traveling distance arise between the measuring apparatus and the farm machine, these differences are detected by image processing , which allows the machine in the field to be located accurately. The short(0.05 second) time required for image processing is enough to follow an object . In the present study, this system was able to measure the path that a moving tractor makes. Even though a lag of up to 0.4 meters occurred, this system did not miss its target during operation of the track subsystem. Thus the path measuring system developed here is able to record vehicle paths automatically by following the movement of vehicles in the field and measuring the distance to them. It is expected to come into use in such applications as unmanned moving vehicle tests.

  • Sleepers perform bearing rails and are underneath rails. Therefore, the current and voltage of rails are related to the resistance of sleepers. In case that the resistance of sleepers are low, operation problems of relays in tr ack circuits are occur because of flowing leakage current through sleepers. So the condition that the track circuit is always occupied by a train is kept. Currently, the creosote has been used in wood sleepers due to prevention against putrefaction. After a long time, the material is changeable to the chemistry material bases on carbon dioxide or carbon. So, the insulation resistance of wood sleepers is lower than the initial insulation resistance. In case of effecting wood sleepers as conductors, amplitude of the current and voltage on rails is decreased. This phenomenon causes that a train does not receive signals. In this paper, four-network model on the track circuit including the insulation resistance of sleepers is suggested. Also, the standard value of the resistance in straight section is proposed in the wood sleeper.

  • In optical disk drives (ODD), the demands of high data density and high speed have been increasing rapidly to achieve high data capacity and data transfer rate The use of short wavelength laser and high track following performance are needed to raise data density and data rate. For high-performance actuator, the improvement of linearity and acceleration become more important. (omitted)

  • Nowadays, Short headway is a requirement of Signaling System applied to subway and Light Rail Transit (LRT) being constructed in Korea. To satisfy this Systematic Requirement, the accuracy of train position information on the line is one of the main element to improve ATC system safety and performance. On-board ATC system performs feasibility of Train Position as comparing data from balise installed along the track with data from tachometer installed at both axles of train.

  • In this paper we present a novel robotic palpation method for the lump shape estimation using contact pressure distribution. Many previous researches about the robotic palpation have used a stiffness map, which is not suitable to obtain geometrical information of a lump. As a result, they require a large data set and long palpation time to estimate the lump shape. Instead of using the stiffness map, the proposed palpation method uses the difference between the normal force direction and the surface normal to detect the lump boundary and estimate its normal. The palpation trajectory is generated by the normal of the lump boundary to track the lump boundary in real-time. The proposed approach requires small data set and short palpation time for the lump shape estimation since the shape can be directly estimated from the optimally generated palpation trajectory. An experiment result shows that our method can find the lump shape accurately in real-time with small data and short time.
