This paper describes an intelligent user interface to define simulation models from the process and resource models. It also explains an automatic program generator of discrete event simulation model for shop floor control in a flexible manufacturing system. Especially, the paper is focused on the design and development of methodology to automate simulation modeling from the system description. Describing a shop floor control system in simulation is not an easy task since it must resolve various decision problems such as deadlock resolution, part dispatching, resource conflict resolution, etc. The program generator should be capable of constructing a complete discrete simulation models for a multi-product and multi-stage flow shop containing the above mentioned problems.

A shop floor control system(SFCS) performs the production activities required to fill orders. In order to effectively control these activities, the autonomous agent-based heterarchical shop floor control architecture is adopted where a supervisor does not exist. In this paper, we define functional perspective of the heterarchical shop floor control using planning, scheduling, and execution modules. In particular, we focus on an execution module that can coordinate the planning and scheduling modules and a general execution module that easily can be modified to execute the other equipment. The execution module can be defined informally as a module that downloads and performs a set of scheduled tasks. The execution module is also responsible for identifying and resolving various errors whether they come from hardware or software. The purpose of this research is to identify all the execution activities and solving techniques under the assumptions of the heterarchical control architecture. And we model the execution module in object-oriented modelling technique for generalization. The execution module modeled in object-oriented concept can be adopted to the other execution module easily. This paper also proposes a classification scheme for execution activities of the heterarchical control architecture. Petri-nets are used as a unified framework for modeling and controlling execution activities. For solving the nonexistence of a supervisor, a negotiation-based solution technique is utilized.

In this paper, HSE (Health and Safety Environments) research with smart device and biometrics is conducted for the worker's HSE enhancement in the manufacturing shop floor. Today, various kinds of smart devices are popularized extensively. In addition, the wearable type devices are being introduced such as google glass very recently. Smart device of werable type is exptected to bring great opportunity out in terms of HSE functionality. Smart devices of phone or tablet type are being used for on-line work between control center and manufacturing shop floor by virtue of wireless communication. However, those devices are not appropriate for detecting of worker's physical senses such as temperature and pulse. In this paper, we developed a glass type smart device and required funictions for HSE enhancement with the investigation of biometrics technology. Also, required sensors are investigated for the detecting of temperature, pulse and noxious gasses. Smart device of glass type has advantages in that most senses of personnel are gathered around faces, and also it's possible to detect neutral axis of body because the wearing location is fixed. We expect that the proposing HSE product of glass type smart device could contribute the enhancement of the HSE of manufacturing shop floor.
The automated chemical analysis shop floor are developed for the environmental pollution problems in our chemical analysis center. This shop floor have the several equipments include weight, pour, dry, heater, boiler, mixture, spectroscopy etc. And the material handling components are made up by the stored stack, conveyore, turntables, robot etc. Computer simulation has been an important tool for these complete design problem. We have designed the arangement of chemical equipments and material flow systems by using the simulator "AutoModII". "AutoMoII" is one of the advanced simulator, CAD-like drawing tools with a powerful, engineering oriented language to model control logic and material flow. The result is the modeling of the chemical analysis system in accurate, three dimensional detail. We could designed the set able layout and scheduling system by using the AutoMoII simulator. AutoMoII simulator.

As the product lifecycle is getting shorter and various models should be released to respond to the needs of customers and markets, automation-based flexible production line has been recognized as the core competitiveness. According to these trends, system vendors supply cell-level systems such as FMC(Flexible Manufacturing Cell) that is integration of core functions of FMS(Flexible Manufacturing System) and RMC(Reconfigurable Manufacturing Cell) that can easily extend components of FMC. In the cell-based environment, flexible management for shop floor composed of existing job shop, FMCs and RMCs from various system vendors has emerged as an important issue. However, there could be some problems on integrated operation between heterogeneous cells to use vendor-specific cell controllers and on seamless information flow with high level systems such as ERP(Enterprise Resource Planning). In this context, this paper proposes process management systems supporting integrated shop operation of heterogeneous multi-cell based flexible manufacturing environment: First of all, (1) Integrated Shop Operation System to apply the process management system is introduced, and (2) Multi-Layer BOP(Bill-Of-Process) model, a backbone of the process management system, is derived with its data structure. Finally, application of the proposed model is illustrated through system implementation results.

Shipbuilding production management is one of the most significant activities in productivity improvement. Shop-floor managers and production planners still do not have enough production information for shop-floor scheduling due to shortage of information sharing among them. In this research, main issues were derived from requirement analysis between production planning and shop-floor control to establish a software system architecture for ship production monitoring system(SPMS), which is developed with component based design(CBD). The proposed system's key functions cover from block shop assembly to quay outfitting stage to visualize production progress as well as to maximize production information sharing. The system will allow more reliable and accurate production information to permeate down to members of the workforce just in time.

This paper addresses scheduling heuristics for an assembly job-shop that includes at least an assembly process throughout its processes. The assembly job shop has certain characteristics not only considering the precedence relationship between the processes but also considering the processing progress between the parts. In addition, it probably presents a different processing time for the same product according to the order of processes and the point of workable time, due to the difference in the availability of equipments. The paper proposes several priority-based dispatching rules that consider these characteristics of the assembly job-shop, aiming to minimize the total tardiness of products in the shop floor. Computational tests showed that job due date based priority rules significantly outperform existing priority rules in terms of total tardiness.

Conventionally injection molds & dies are manufactured through an order-oriented manner. This brings unexpected orders into the shop floor such as hot order, re-work, and new types of mold & dies. Thus, there needs appropriate resource assignment plans considering the available times of machines and workers. Further, a scheduling system is required that can create work schedules periodically or by customers' requests. Yet, in small & medium sized mold & die makers, production schedules usually depend on the shop floor workers' experience and their manual preparation. Hence, developed in this study is a scheduling management system (SMS) based on order release and review (ORR) in small and medium sized mold & die companies. The proposed SMS considers delivery dates as well as flexible work schedules, so as to meet frequent changes of customers' order. The system can provide effective resource assigning and work scheduling plans, securing standard data associated with shop floors. Furthermore, the system pursues economical schedules for companies' needs, equipped with an available to promise (ATP) function that can effectively accommodate the changes of production plans.

This paper presents the experimental results to verify the environmental consciousness with economic balances due to cutting fluid behaviors, effectiveness in machining process. Even though cutting fluid improves the machined part quality through the cooling and lubracating effects, its environmental impact is also increased according to the cutting fluid usage. Because cutting fluid are used by experience than science on shop floors, its environmental impact are more serious to human health hazard, shop floor environments. In this study a few cutting parameters are adopted as the machinability index (i.e. ; tool wear and surface roughness), and aerosol mist diffusion rate of cutting fluid as the environment consciousness index. These indeces are analyzed quantitatively via a few experiements. The results of this study can be facilitate the optimization of cutting fluid usage in achieving a balanced environmental consciousness consideration with economic view.
