충격파 경계층 상호작용에서 난류모델 및 난류점성의 효과 (EFFECTS OF TURBULENCE MODEL AND EDDY VISCOSITY IN SHOCK-WAVE / BOUNDARY LAYER INTERACTION)

  • Two compression ramp problems and an impinging shock problem are computed to investigate influence of turbulence models and eddy viscosity on the shock-wave / boundary layer interaction. A Navier-Stokes boundary layer generation code was applied to the generation of inflow boundary conditions. Computational results are validated well with the experimental data and effects of turbulence models are investigated. It is shown that the behavior of turbulence (eddy) viscosity directly affects both the extent of the separation and shock-wave positions over the separation.

충격파-와동 간섭의 파라메터 연구 (Parametric Study on Shock-Vortex Interaction)

  • In the idealized model problem of the interaction between a planar travelling shock and a symmetric vortex, the physics of shock distortion and quadrupole sound generation are well known to many researchers. However, the authors have distinguished the weak waves reflected and transmitted by the complicated photograph images obtained from a shock tube experiment. In this paper, we introduces a parametric study based on Navier-Stokes simulation and Rankin vortex model to see the difference of shock deformation shapes. Four combination of the strength of shock and vortex are respectively selected from a parameter plane of shock and vortex strength extended to the strong vortex region. The result shows clearly discernable wave morphology for the main parameters, which is not yet explicitly mentioned by other researchers.

  • The interaction patterns between shock wave and boundary layer in a rocket nozzle are mainly classified into two categories, FSS(Free Shock Separation) and RSS(Restricted Shock Separation), both of which are associated with the thrust characteristics as well as side loads of the engine. According to the previous investigations, strong side loads of the engine are produced during the period of transition from FSS to RSS or vice versa. The present work aims at investigating the unsteady behavior of the separation shock waves in a two-dimensional supersonic nozzle, using experimental method and CFD. Schlieren optical method was employed to visualize the time-mean and time-dependent shock motions in the nozzle. The unsteady, compressible N-S equations with SST K-$\omega$ turbulence closure were solved using a fully implicit finite volume scheme. The results obtained show the separation shock motions during the transition of the interaction pattern.

유동의 흡입이 충격파/경계층의 간섭현상에 미치는 영향 (Effect of flow bleed on shock wave/boundary layer interaction)

  • Experiments of shock wave/turbulent boundary layer interaction were conducted by using a supersonic wind tunnel. Nominal Mach number was varied in the range of 1.6 to 3.0 by means of different nozzles. The objective of the present study is to investigate the effects of boundary layer flow bleed on the interaction flow field in a straight tube. Two-dimensional slits were installed on the tube walls to bleed the turbulent boundary layer flows. The bleed flows were measured by an orifice. The ratio of the bleed mass flow to main mass flow was controlled within the range of 11 per cent. The wall pressures were measured by the flush mounted transducers and Schlieren optical observations were made for almost all of the experiments. The results show that the boundary layer flow bleed reduces the multiple shock waves to a strong normal shock wave. For the design Mach number of 1.6, it was found that the normal shock wave at the position of the silt was resulted from the main flow choking due to the suction of the boundary layer flow.

수직충격파와 난류경계층의 간섭유동의 피동제어에 관한 수치 해석 (Computations on Passive Control of Normal Shock-Wave/Turbulent Boundary-Layer Interactions)

  • 본 연구에서는 2차원 압축성 Navier-Stokes 방정식을 이용하여, 약한 수직충격파와 난류 경계층의 간섭현상에 대한 피동제어 유동장을 수치계산법으로 조사하였다. 벽 내부에 공동을 가지는 다공벽을 사용하여 충격파와 난류경계층간 상호간섭을 제어하였다. 본 연구로부터 $\lambda$형 충격파의 하류쪽 가지를 중심으로 하여, 그 하류에서는 주유동이 공동내부로 또 그 상류에서는 공동내부로부터 주유동쪽으로 피이드백되는 유동을 관찰하였으며, 다공벽의 구멍을 통하는 유동은 초크하지 않는다는 것을 알았다.

  • 슬롯과 다공판을 이용한 충격파와 난류 경계층 간섭유동의 피동제어에 관한 연구가 수행되었다. 슬롯의 다양한 형상 변화가 간섭유동에 미치는 영향이 관찰되었으며, 이를 위하여 간섭유동 후방에서 피토/벽압력 분포 및 쉴리렌, 유맥선, 오일막 간섭 줄무늬 형상과 같은 유동가시화 결과 등이 얻어졌다. 유동방향의 슬롯의 경우 간섭유동 후방에서 제어되지 않은 경우와 비교하여 보다 높은 피토압력이 국소적으로 관찰되었으나, 폭방향 슬롯제어는 전체적으로 제어되지 않은 경우에 비하여 피토압력 크기에서 큰 장점을 보이지 않았다.

  • Large-Eddy Simulation (LES) is applied for the simulation of compressible flat plate boundary with Reynolds number up to 5 X 10$^{5}$ . Numerical examples include shock/boundary layer interaction and boundary layer transition, aiming future application to the analysis of transonic fan/compressor cascades. The present LES code uses hybrid com-pact/WENO scheme for the spatial discretization and compact diagonalized implicit scheme for the time integration. The present code successfully predicted the bypass transition of subsonic boundary layer. As for supersonic turbulent boundary layer, mean and fluctuation velocity of the attached boundary, as well as the evolution of the friction coefficient and the displacement thickness both upstream and downstream of the separation region are all in good agreement with experiment. The separation point also agreed with the experiment. In the simulation of the shock/laminar boundary layer interaction, the dependence of the transition upon the shock strength is reproduced qualitatively, but the extent of the separation region is overpredicted. These numerical examples show that LES can predict the behavior of boundary layer including transition and shock interaction, which are hardly managed by the conventional Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes approach, although there needs to be more effort before achieving quantitative agreement.

  • An experimental model is investigated in this paper using the experimental method with a shock tube and the numerical technique. The shock-vortex interaction generated by this model is visualized with various methods: holographic interferometry, shodowgraphy, and numerical computation. In terms of shock dynamics, there are two meaningful physics in the present problem. They are reflective wave from the slip layer at the vortex edge and transmitted shock penetrating the vortex core. The discussion in this study is mainly focused on the two kinds of waves contributing to the quadrupolar pressure distribution around the vortex center during the interaction.

Performance of under foundation shock mat in reduction of railway-induced vibrations

  • Under foundation shock mats have been used in the current practice in order to reduce/damp vibrations received by buildings through the surrounding environment. Although some investigations have been made on under foundation shock mats performance, their effectiveness in the reduction of railway induced-vibrations has not been fully studied, particularly with the consideration of underneath soil media. In this regard, this research is aimed at investigating performance of shock mat used beneath building foundation for reduction of railway induced-vibrations, taking into account soil-structure interaction. For this purpose, a 2D finite/infinite element model of a building and its surrounding soil media was developed. It includes an elastic soil media, a railway embankment, a shock mat, and the building. The model results were validated using an analytical solution reported in the literature. The performance of shock mats was examined by an extensive parametric analysis on the soil type, bedding modulus of shock mat and dominant excitation frequency. The results obtained indicated that although the shock mat can substantially reduce the building vibrations, its performance is significantly influenced by its underneath soil media. The softer the soil, the lower the shock mat efficiency. Also, as the train excitation frequency increases, a better performance of shock-mats is observed. A simplified model/method was developed for prediction of shock mat effectiveness in reduction of railway-induced vibrations, making use of the results obtained.

꼭지각이 $60^{\cire}$인 쐐기에 충돌하는 초음속 제트의 공기역학적 특성 (Aerodynamic Characteristics of Supersonic Jets Impinging on $60^{\cire}$ Wedge)

  • 제트 편향기 설계를 위한 기초 자료로 활용하기 위해 꼭지각 $60^{\cire}$인 쐐기에 충돌하는 초음속 제트에 대해 연구하였다. 초음속 제트가 쐐기에 충돌할 때 발생되는 주요 특징은 충격파 간섭과 유동의 박리현상이다. 초음속 유동장치를 이용하여 유동가시화, 표면압력분포, 등압력분포를 측정하고 실험결과와의 비교 및 검증을 위해 유동해석을 하였다 주요변수로는 과소팽창비, 노즐출구에서 꼭지점까지 거리, 설계마하수를 고려하였다. 쐐기 충격파가 이격 또는 부착되는 조건을 확인하였으며 유동장에 지배적 영향을 끼치는 인자는 자유제트의 강도, 쐐기 충격파와 배럴 충격파의 간섭에 의해 형성되는 충격파 패턴임을 알 수 있었다.
