Underwater acoustic positioning systems have been extensively used not only in surface position fixing but also in underwater position fixing. Recently, these systems have been applied in the field of installation and underwater inspection of offshore platforms etc. But in these systems are included the fixing errors as results of a signal with additive noise and irregular motion of vessel by ocean waves. To improve the accuracy of the position fixing a Kalman filter is applied to the supershort baseline (SSBL) acoustic positioning system with beacon mode in noise conditions. The position data obtained by the Kalman filter is compared with raw position data and it is confirmed in the simulation that the former is more accurate than the latter. And an indicator monitoring the filtering effect is described while ship's moving.

Recently, several problems have occurred in the space, infra-structure, and facility of the contiguity of existing harbors due to the trend of enlarged container vessels. In this regard, the Mobile Harbor has been proposed conceptually in this study as an effective solution for these problems. The concept is that of a transfer loader that transfers containers from a large container ship to the harbor on land, and is a catamaran type floating barge. The catamaran-type vessel is well known for its advantage in maneuverability, resistance, and effectiveness for working on board. For the safe and effective operation of the two floating bodies (a container ship and the mobile harbor in the near sea detached from the quay), robot arms, novel crane systems, and pneumatic fenders are specially devised with an additional mooring facility or DP (dynamic positioning) system. In this study, this concept is to be verified through comparison and simulation studies under various environmental conditions. It is shown that the proposed concept is in general feasible but there are several areas for further investigation and improvement.
In the shipbuilding industry, accuracy management is one of the keys for strengthening competitiveness. However, ship block errors are unavoidable in the block erection stage because of the deformation of the blocks. Currently, accuracy managers decide whether or not block corrections are needed, based on measured and designed point data. They adjust the locations of hull blocks so that the blocks are aligned with other assembly blocks based upon the experience of production engineers. This paper proposes an optimization process that can adjust the locations of ship blocks during the erection stage. A genetic algorithm is used for this optimization scheme. Finally, the feasibility of the proposed method is discussed using several case studies. We found that the proposed method can find the optimized re-alignment of erection blocks, as well as improve the productivity of the erection stage.

As technologies such as cameras, Laser Imaging, Detection, and Ranging (LiDAR), and Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) become more sophisticated and common, their use in autonomous driving technologies is being explored in various fields. In the maritime area, technologies related to collision avoidance between ships are being developed to evaluate and avoid the risk of collision between ships by setting various scenarios. However, the position of each vessel used in the process of developing collision avoidance technology between vessels uses data obtained through GNSS, and may include a position error of 10 m or more depending on the situation. In this paper, a study on the dynamic safety navigation range including the positional inaccuracy of the ship is conducted. By combining the concept of the protection level obtained using GNSS raw data with a conventional safe navigation range, a safer navigation range can be calculated for dynamic navigation. The calculated range is verified using data obtained while sailing in an actual sea environment.
Ship's positino data obtaining method is ine of the very important factor innavigation . Nowadays, GPS(Global Positioning System) using the earth orbiting satellites are equipped and operated for the position finding. Because it provides more precise position information than other equipments and is very convenient for navigator. In this study, it is designed to develop the GPS simulator for everybody being able to proactise the GPS operating skill like as navigation planning, navigation calculating etc. And also, it can be operated with personal computer without real GPS receiver. This simulation system is based on the real GPS receiver system and built by the visual basic 5.0 program. And it displays the ship's position and navigating information and plots the ship's moving track on the screen in real time according as initial setup data-main engine's rpm, rudder angle, depature position and waypoint.
Now, GPS survey is used on equipment from leisure to precise geodetic survey and nation admits the result of GPS survey. When surveyors perform precise GPS survey, they use post processing method but they greatly use real time processing method to consider field status. Especially, when surveyors measure the result of moving target, they use real time GPS survey to the best method. For this study, the author precisely surveyed distance of ship launching from shipyard on real time using real time precise GPS method. In this paper, the author compares and examines the accuracy of first real time precise GPS survey method nationally and the capability on use. And the author performed real time precise GPS survey in NOKBONG and 21C shipyard positioning at GEOJEDO.

Kinematic GPS provides quite good accuracy of position in cm level. Though K-GPS assures high precision measurement in cm level on the basis of an appreciable distance between a station and an observational point, but it has measurable distance restriction within 20 km from a reference station on land. So it is necessary to make out a simple and low-cost method to obtain accurate positioning information without distance restriction. In this paper, the velocity integration method to get the precise velocity information of ship is explained. Next two experimental results (Zig-zag maneuvering test and Williamson turn) as the ship's maneuvering test and also the experimental results of leaving and entering port as slow speed ship's movement were shown. In these experimental results, ship's course, speed and position are compared with those obtained by kinematic-GPS, velocity integration method and dead reckoning position using Gyro-compass and Doppler-log.
