  • Purpose: The purpose was to investigate the literature on depression among South Korean nurses in order to identify overall trends regarding depression. Methods: Forty-five papers published between 1998 and 2017 in three Korean databases-RISS4U, DBPIA, and KISS-were analyzed. Results: Depression showed significant positive associations with job stress, burnout, intent to leave, and somatic symptoms such as fatigue and trouble sleeping. Poor work environments such as staff shortage, work overload, and shift work were also positively associated with depression. Higher job satisfaction, resilience, self-efficacy, self-esteem, and social support were negatively correlated with and acted as significant buffers against depression. Conclusion: These results indicate that healthcare policymakers must pay more attention to the management and prevention of nurses' depression. In order to effectively do so, poor work conditions, which involve long working hours, high patient-to-nurse ratios, and extreme workloads, should be improved. Simultaneously, nursing managers should implement initiatives such as counseling and competency improvement programs, and stress management to reduce and prevent depression among nurses and strengthen their positive competency. Also, further research is required to clarify the prevalence of depression in South Korean nurses, with more meta-analyses also required to identify variations in depression rates owing to various factors.

  • We solve the inverse kinematics problems in robotics by employing a neural network. In the practical situation. it is not easy to obtain the exact inverse kinematics solution, since there are many unforeseen errors such as the shift of a robot base the link's bending, et c. Hence difficulties follow in the trajectory planning. With the neural network, it is possible to train the robot motion so that the robot follows the desired trajectory without errors even under the situation where the unexpected errors are involved. In this work, Back-Propagation rule is used as a learning method.

  • The KNR(Korean National Railroad) is trying to set a new rail standard to back up the speed-up policy of the conventional railways. This work has passably significance since the rail standards used were introduced from Japan without the consideration on our situation. The contact analysis between wheel treads and rail heads, attended with complex calculation and the wear experiments taken long time should be accomplished for the exact investigation to establish a new rail standard. However, this paper just concentrates the structural investigation of the proposed rail standard and the dynamic analysis between trains and rail models with intent to shift the above procedure on the next step.

  • In this work, we suggest another method to localize DFT in spatial domain. This enables DFT algorithm to be used for local pattern matching. Once calculated, it costs same load to calculate localized DFT regardless of the size or the position of local region In spatial domain. We applied this method to face detection problem and got the results which prove the utility of our method.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the degree of difficulty and turnover of nurses working in the field and to derive clinical work activation and supply policy improvements. Data was collected from December, 2014 to January, 2015, from 23 hospitals, and participants were 3,887 nurses working in the field, Survey details : the difficulty of the clinical work of nurses working in hospitals, turnover intentions status and policy proposals for clinical research work enabled General characteristics, difficulties in clinical working, turnover intention and clinical work plan activation are frequency analysis. The difference between each of the variables in accordance with the general characteristics are one-way ANOVA analysis, Correlation analysis of the variables is also a Pearson correlation coefficients. 'difficulties in clinical working' was a statistically significant difference depending on the type of hospital, nursing class, number of beds, location, age, position, employment, gender, working form, working department, salary, career, and degree level. 'turnover intention' was a statistically significant difference depending on nursing rate, number of beds, region, age, position, sex, shifts, departments, annual income, and career. 'policy recommendation' was a statistically significant difference depending on type of hospital, nursing rate, age, position, employ, shifts, departments, annual income, degree level and career 'difficulties in clinical working' is 'turnover intention' (p<.001), 'policy recommendations' (p<.001) and had a significant positive correlation. and 'turnover intention' had a "policy recommendation" significant positive correlation with the relationship (p<.001) The most difficulties point of the nurses working in the field are the environment, such as shift, urgent and dangerous. Major policy proposals are improve treatment such as wages, and welfare.

  • In the Chinese workplace, the use of SNS such as Wechat and QQ for work delivery out of duty hours has become a very common phenomenon, which is also known as the "new night shift". This study is to empirically analyze the effect of work delivery using SNS out of duty hours on job performance. A questionnaire survey was conducted with 310 Chinese workplace employees. In order to verify the hypothesis, structural equation model analysis will be implemented. Analyzing the questionnaire data and receiving frequent work delivery using SNS out of duty hours will increase job stress, aggravate the conflicts between work and family, and lead to the decrease of job engagement and job performance. The study provides implications for the establishment of related theories by providing a different view form previous research results that work delivery using SNS out of duty hours will definitely improve job performance. In addition, in future studies, it will be necessary to analyze the effect of the moderating effect in converging these conflicting views.

  • Background: Work is an inseparable element of a person's life, and violence in the workplace has various effects on individual workers and companies. While most studies have focused on specific industries, very few studies have investigated the influence of workplace violence by co-workers. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the association between workplace violence and work-related depression/anxiety in various occupations by differentiating the perpetrators of violence as co-workers and clients. Methods: This study was conducted based on data from the 4th and 5th Korean Working Conditions Surveys (KWCS). The experience of workplace violence was classified in terms of the perpetrator: workplace violence by co-workers and that by clients. Work-related depression and anxiety were assessed using questions about health problems related to depression and anxiety and whether the problems were related to work. Descriptive statistics, χ2 tests, and multiple logistic regression analyses were performed using the SPSS 26.0. Results: After adjusting for sociodemographic characteristics (age, education, income, subjective health status) and occupational characteristics (occupation, weekly working hours, type of employment, size of workplace, and shift work), male workers with experience of workplace violence by co-workers were found to be at a higher risk of work-related depression/anxiety (odds ratio [OR], 11.52; 95% confidence interval [CI], 8.65-15.36). The same was confirmed for female workers (OR, 10.89; 95% CI, 7.90-15.02). Conclusions: Employees who experienced workplace violence from co-workers were found to be more vulnerable to work-related depression/anxiety. Continuous contact between the victim and the perpetrator may occur, and the possibility of a secondary assault can frighten the victim. Appropriate prevention and intervention measures that focus on the perpetrators of violence are needed.
