  • Power factor and harmonics are increasingly important for high speed train auxiliary block. This paper presents experimental results of the power factor and harmonic performance of two parallel PWM circuits under various supply and load conditions. For reducing harmonics the harmonic content is eliminated by the phase shift between two converters switching phase. Experimental results show the usefulness of the proposed method and applicability to PWM converter in auxiliary block of high speed train.

  • We show that sulforaphane inhibits osteoclastogenesis in the presence of macrophage colony-stimulating factor (M-CSF) and receptor for activation of nuclear factor-${\kappa}B$ ligand (RANKL) in osteoclast (OC) precursors. Sulforaphane, an aliphatic isothiocyanate, is a known cancer chemo-preventative agent with anti-oxidative properties. Nuclear factor-${\kappa}B$ (NF-${\kappa}B$) is a critical transcription factor in RANKL-induced osteoclastogenesis, and electrophoretic mobility shift assays (EMSAs) and assay of NF-${\kappa}B$-mediated secreted alkaline phosphatase (SEAP) revealed that sulforaphane selectively inhibited NF-${\kappa}B$ activation induced by RANKL. Inhibition may involve interaction of sulforaphane with thiol groups, since it was prevented by reducing agents.

  • We investigate time-temperature superposition from the viewpoint of geometry. The arc length of viscoelastic plots provides powerful resolution for check of the validity of time-temperature superposition. We also suggest a new algorithm for determination of shift factor which is base on the minimization of the total arc length and does not assume any functional form of viscoelastic function.

  • The Color shift phenomenon is becoming a major degradation factor of the emitting color purity in the organic emitting diodes which is generating a plurality of colors. In this study, the basic structure of organic light emitting diode device is comprised of ITO/${\alpha}$-NPD/$Alq_3$:DCJTB[wt%]/$Alq_3$/Mg:Ag, we have carry out numerical simulation of the electric-optical characteristics in organic light emitting diode device to estimate the mechanism of color shift phenomenon. We have investigated the causes of the color shift through the change of DCJTB doping concentration ratio. As the result, we have confirmed that the changes of the recombination rate which generated by trapped electrons and holes is one of the major factors for the color shift phenomenon.

  • HIV-1 Rev protein plays an important role in regulating the expression of viral structural proteins. It allows the nuclear export and accumulation of unspliced and partially spliced viral mRNA in the cytoplasm. The Rev-responsive element RNA, present in the env gene, forms a higly ordered RNA secondary structure and is required for the Rev-mediated mRNA export. For this process to complete factor(s) are strongly suggested. From our experiments of electrophoretic mobility shift, UV-crosslinking and SDS/PAGE, RRE RNA was found to be recognized to several nuclear factors such as 36/37, 56, 41. 76, 150 kD proteins in the order of reactivity. Among them, 36/37 and 56 kD proteins are more reactive upon a brief UV treatment (5 min) and more persistent in the presence of high amount of nonspecific competitor, heparin. Certain nuclear protein9s) seemed to recognize the RRE RNA structure in competition with Rev to gel mobility shift assay.

  • This study aimed to understand shift-working married female nurses' the experience of work-family balance and the special situational context of shift work. Interviews were conducted with 10 married female nurses working shifts to explore their in-depth inner lives, and the collected data were analyzed by Giorgi's phenomenological method. As a result of the analysis, a total of 120 semantic units, 16 sub-components, and 5 components of 'recognition of the reality of work-family balance due to shift work', 'difficulty of work-family balance', 'motor of work-family balance', 'satisfaction factor in job performance', and 'challenges to be solved' were found. This study was significant in that it provides empirical evidence for the development of sophisticated strategies to reconcile work-family life for working-shift married female nurses, through an in-depth exploration of their experiences in work-life balance.

  • Soybean nuclear extracts were prepared to examine the expression of SEF3 (soybean embryo factors 3), which binds to the upstream region of soybean ${\beta}-conglycinin$ ${\alpha}'$ subunit gene and is presumed to be a trans-acting factor for the expression of the gene. The relative levels of SEF3 binding activity in nuclear extracts of maturing soybean embryos were determined using the SE3 DNA probe containing two AACCCA hexanucleotides for gel mobility shift assay. The SEF3 activity increased in developing embryos from 16 to 32 days after pollination, whereas the mobility of the SE3-SE3-SEF3 complex decreased. The mobility of the complex was increased by the treatment of nuclear extracts with alkaline phosphatese, which could be inhibited by phosphate. Formation of the SE3-SEF3 complex was not affected by the binding buffer pH between 6.8 and 8.5.
