저탄소 박판 강재의 Nd:YAG 레이저 용접부 형성에 미치는 공정변수의 영향 (Effect of Process Parameters on Bead Formation in Nd:YAG Laser Welding of Thin Steels)

  • This study deals with high power Nd:YAG laser welding of thin steels for small pressure vessels. Full penetration welding at the overlap joint was performed so as to assure sufficient weld strength. Results showed that mid-depth weld size reduced drastically with increasing the travel speed. Position of focus had little effect on the bead formation even though short focal system was used. However, the shape factor and the bead width had closely related with the position of focus. Based on the microstructural inspection, acceptable weld was obtained when the overlap clearance was controlled up to 20% of the base metal thickness. In the case that the joint contained more clearance than the critical value, both the tensile shear strength and the tear strength were reduced. Results also demonstrated that shielding gases were proved to play a key role as far as the bead formation characteristics was taken into consideration. Blowing dry air through 5mm in diameter nozzle produced narrower bead cross-section than that of argon or nitrogen shielding.

  • Shielding gas has significant effects on arc stability, metal transfer and weld quality in the gas metal arc welding (GMAW) process. The double gas-shielded MAG(DMAG) and auxiliary gas-shielded MAG (AMAG) torches are investigated for their capability to provide argon-rich gas mixture using small amount of argon gas through the inner and auxiliary nozzles, respectively. Argon composition with the DMAG torch is calculated numerically, and compared with the measured data using the gas chromatogrphy. Gas flow pattern of the DMAG torch is calculated to change from the laminar to turbulent flow when total gas flow rate becomes larger than 4.5 liter/min at room temperature. While argon-rich shielding gas was obtained using both the AMAG and DMAG torches, the AMAG torch provides higher argon composition than the DMAG torch, which demonstrates that argon gas can be utilized more efficiently with the AMAG torch.

  • The need for high-strength galvanized steel has recently increased because of the increased number of car consumers who want improved efficiency and exterior quality. High-strength galvanized steel with high corrosion resistance improves the durability of products and exterior quality. Furthermore, the gilt of zinc does not come off during machining because of the fine adhesive property of zinc. When these are welded, zinc has a lower melting temperature than iron, so zinc is more quickly vaporized than iron. Vaporized zinc can stick to electrodes, which increases spatter in welding transportation. Created spatter can enter the molten pool and develop into inner defects or blowholes and pits. Scattered spatter sticks to the product, which leads to the secondary cost of spatter removal. Therefore, in this study, comparisons of amounts of spatter generated are conducted according to the composition of shielding gas in the MIG and CMT processes to find optimal welding parameters.

  • In the 5xxx series Al-Mg alloy, magnesium addition can increase the strength of aluminum alloy by solid solution strengthening but it has a relatively low melting and boiling temperature. During full -penetration laser welding of the Al-Mg alloys, its low boiling point and high vapor pressure brings about the spiky humping bead on the bottom side. Under back-side shielding, the spiking of back bead can be reduced but it restraints the process flexibility. In this study, a square pulse waveform modulation was employed to stabilize keyhole and back bead surface without back-side shielding. By using an experimental design, the bead shapes were evaluated for various process parameters such as the focal position, welding velocity and waveform parameters and the smooth back bead shape could be achieved.

  • Polycarbonate thermoplastic composite materials are anisotropic and exhibit physical properties in the longitudinal direction. Therefore, the physical properties depend on the type and direction of reinforcements. The thermal conductivity, electrical conductivity, and resin impregnation can be controlled by adding carbon nanotubes to polycarbonate resin. However, the carbon fiber used as a reinforcing material is expensive, interfacial adhesion issues occur, and simulation values are different from actual values, making it difficult to perform mathematical analysis. However, carbon nanotubes have advantages such as light weight, rigidity, impact resistance, and reduced number of parts compared to metals. Due to these advantages, it has been applied to various products to reduce weight, improve corrosion resistance, and increase impact durability. As the content of carbon nanotubes or carbon fibers increases, the mechanical properties and antistatic and electromagnetic shielding performance improve. It is expected that the amount of carbon nanotubes or carbon fibers can be optimized and applied to various industrial products.

  • The auxiliary gas-shielded MAG (AMAG) process, which was devised to provide an argon-rich shielding environment using small amount of argon gas, was investigated experimentally to figure out its effects on metal transfer and weld quality. Proper conditions for the AMAG process including the argon gas ratio, position and direction of the auxiliary nozzle were determined experimentally. Performance of the AMAG process was compared with that of the double gas-shielded MAG(DMAG) and MAG processes by monitoring the bead profile, current and voltage waveforms. The AMAG process was found to provide better bead profile, more stable arc and wider operating range of spray transfer mode compared with the DMAG process. In general, performance of the AMAG process using the argon ratio of 30% was comparable to that of the MAG process using 80% argon and 20% CO₂ gas.

Novel Fabrication Process of Vertical Spring for Micro Mirror

  • Novel fabrication process of vertical spring for micro mirror array is proposed. The proposed fabrication process adopts a shadow evaporation process using shielding screen structure on top of the sacrificial layer. The 50${\times}$50 micro mirror arrays are fabricated using the proposed process and ceramic packaged. The static and dynamic characteristics of mirror are measured. The mirror plate touches substrate at 16V and the response time of about 16.8 ${\mu}\textrm{s}$. The resonant frequency of mirror is 16kHz. The spring thickness is calculated from static characteristic to be 1075${\AA}$.

  • Tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding is commonly used in industries that require airtightness, watertightness, oiltightness, and precision. It is a non-consumable welding method that is commonly used for the welding of non-ferrous metals, but it can be used to weld most metals. The methods of TIG welding can be divided into three types. The first, manual welding is done directly on the metal by a welder with a torch. The second, semi-automatic welding, gets help from a material supplying machine, but it is conducted by a welder. Lastly, automated welding is conducted fully by a machine during its process and operation. Depending on the selection of electrode, the amount of heat that is applied to the base material and the electrode rod changes and makes the shape of welded parts different. A direct-current positive electrode was used for this study. Through the change of shielding gas type on a structural steel (SS-400) that is commonly used in industry, the composition and shape changes in welded parts were detected after welding. The heat-affected area, hardness value, and tensile strength were also identified through hardness testing and tensile testing. In this study, it was found that the higher hardness value of the heat-affected is, the weaker the tensile strength becomes.

  • GS건설은 업계 최초로 EVMS(Earned Value Management System) 관리기법을 바탕으로 공정과 손익을 관리하는 통합 공사관리 시스템인 PMS (Project Management System)을 개발, 1997년부터 전 현장에 적용하여 왔으며, 최근에는 현장업무를 중심으로 일 단위 공정관리 기법 적용과 자재, 인력, 장비의 적시 투입(JIT, Just in Time)을 통하여 보다 효과적인 공사관리를 할 수 있도록 시스템의 지원을 실현하기 위해 TPMS(Total Project Management System)로 확대 구축 중에 있다. TPMS는 린 건설의 주요 사상인 Shielding(할 수 있는 일만 지시하라)과 Make-Ready Process(할 수 있는 일이 많아지도록 "사전준비"를 철저히 하라)를 구현하고 있으며, 이를 통해 현장에서 실제로 진행하고 있는 하루하루의 업무를 시스템에서 계획하고 관리할 수 있도록 구축하고, 그날의 업무진행에 관계된 자재, 인력, 장비의 계획과 실행을 지원하여, 비 가치창출 과정을 최소화하는 역할을 담당하고 있다. 본 자료는 GS건설에서 현재 구축한 TPMS의 개념을 소개하고, 이를 실제 구축한 사례를 보여줌으로써, 새로운 건설문화를 선도하고, 건설산업의 경쟁력을 높이는 데 일조 하고자 한다.

인공심장박동기가 이식된 유방암환자의 방사선 치료에 대한 사례 보고 (Case Report of Radiotherapy to a Breast Cancer Patient with a Pacemaker)

  • 목 적: 본원을 내원한 인공심장박동기를 이식한 유방암 환자에 대해 장비위치이전수술, 차폐 또는 빔 정형 등을 고려하여 방사선치료를 시행한 사례의 전반적인 과정을 고찰해보고자 한다. 대상 및 방법: 본원을 내원한 유방암환자 중 좌측 흉부에 인공심장박동기를 이식한 54세 여성 환자를 대상으로 방사선치료를 시행하였다. 환자의 방사선치료 시행이 결정된 후, 인공심장박동기로의 선량 유입을 최소화하기 위해 순환기내과와의 협의를 통해 환자 좌측 흉부에 이식되어있던 기기를 우측 흉부로 이동시키는 수술을 시행하였다. 총 선량 5,040 cGy, 일일선량 180 cGy, 28회, 치료 조건으로 광자선 에너지 10 MV, 조사야 크기 0/$9.5{\times}20$ cm를 사용하여 Half beam 대향이문조사치료를 시행하기 위한 방사선치료계획을 하였다. 방사선 치료계획 시 적합한 차폐체의 두께를 정하기 위하여 Solid water phantom($30{\times}30{\times}7$ cm)에 Farmer-type chamber (TN30013, PTW, Germany)를 이용해 차폐체(납, Pb $28{\times}27{\times}0.1$ cm)를 사용하였을 경우와 사용하지 않았을 경우 기기에 유입될 예상선량을 산출하였다. 전산화치료계획장비(Eclipse, Varian, USA)를 사용해 치료계획을 시행하고, 두께 2 mm의 차폐체를 사용하였을 경우와 사용하지 않았을 경우에 기기에 유입될 예상선량을 산출해내었다. 치료 첫 날, MOSFET Dose Verification System (TN-RD-70-W, Medical Canada Ltd., Canada)을 이용하여 인공심장박동기에 유입되는 선량을 측정하였다. 결 과: 차폐체 두께산정 실험에서 인공심장박동기가 위치한 B 지점에서 차폐체 2 mm일 경우, 105.265 cGy, 처방선량의 2.09%로 산출되어, 적합한 차폐체의 두께를 정할 수 있었다. 전산화치료계획장비에서 2 mm 차폐 시 총 치료기간 동안 11.5에서 38.2 cGy까지 기기에 유입될 수 있음이 나타났으며, DVH 최대값은 77.3 cGy로 나타났다. 환자의 첫 치료 시 MOSFET 측정 결과 4.3 cGy로 측정되어, 총 치료기간동안 120.4 cGy, 처방선량의 2.39%의 선량이 유입될 것으로 예상되었다. 환자는 치료기간동안 그리고 치료받은 후 어떠한 부작용도 일으키지 않았으며, 인공심장박동기는 치료시작 전과 후에 순환기내과에서 기능측정을 받은 결과 아무런 이상을 보이지 않았다. 결 론: 현재 인공심장박동기가 이식된 암 환자의 방사선 치료에 대한 공신력 있는 기관의 권고안이 노후화되어, 새로운 장비들에 대한 데이터가 부족한 상황에서 우리는 타과와 원활한 협업, 철저한 치료계획과 정밀한 QA, 지속적인 in-vivo dosimetry와 monitoring 등을 통하여 이러한 환자들의 방사선치료를 성공적으로 해낼 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.
