전방압출 공정에서 제품 변형 이력 (Deformation History of Product during Forward Extrusion Process)

  • The study has been performed for the relation between die and product during forward extrusion by the experiment. Stains of the die have been given by the simple experiment using the strain gauge located at the outer surface of the die. The history of the deformation of the die and the product has been given by the experiment and Lame's formula. The inner pressure of the die causes the deformation of die that affects the accuracy of dimension as well as shape of the product. The product with accurate dimension and shape can be obtained by analysing elastic deformation of the die during the process. The deformation of the die during metal forming process has been usually predicted by the experience of industrial engineer or finite element analysis. But it is difficult to predict the dimension of the product at unloading and ejected states. In the present study, useful results for the deformation history of the die and the product were obtained through the experiment and Lame's formula in forward extrusion which can be applied to the die design for the product with accurate dimension.

Fluid-structure interaction analysis of deformation of sail of 30-foot yacht

  • Most yacht sails are made of thin fabric, and they have a cambered shape to generate lift force; however, their shape can be easily deformed by wind pressure. Deformation of the sail shape changes the flow characteristics over the sail, which in turn further deforms the sail shape. Therefore, fluid-structure interaction (FSI) analysis is applied for the precise evaluation or optimization of the sail design. In this study, fluid flow analyses are performed for the main sail of a 30-foot yacht, and the results are applied to loading conditions for structural analyses. By applying the supporting forces from the rig, such as the mast and boom-end outhaul, as boundary conditions for structural analysis, the deformed sail shape is identified. Both the flow analyses and the structural analyses are iteratively carried out for the deformed sail shape. A comparison of the flow characteristics and surface pressures over the deformed sail shape with those over the initial shape shows that a considerable difference exists between the two and that FSI analysis is suitable for application to sail design.

  • In this paper, fatigue testing was carried out under the change of aging time(0.5,1.5.10hrs) by electric heating method which is one of the useful method in the application of Robot's actuator. Fatigue degradation behaviors such as cyclic deformation property, amount of deformation, decrease in recovery and variation of transformation temperature for each specimen were examined closely, and the effect of aging time condition was studied on their fatigue degradation behaviors.

비틀림 변형 최소화를 위한 전자레인지 도어 프레임의 형상 최적설계 (Shape Optimal Design of the Door Frame of a Microwave Oven to Minimize Its Twisting Deformation)

  • When one opens the door of a microwave oven during its operation, twisting deformation of the door occurs, which may cause leakage of microwave through the gap between the door and the front plate. A numerical optimization is implemented to minimize the gap by maximizing twisting stiffness of the door of the oven. Design variables are deformed, which describe the shape of the bead in the horizontal and vertical flanges of the door frame. To minimize the twisting deformation, Two optimal design problems to find shapes of the bead in the flange are established. The problems are solved by a numerical optimization technique, their results being evaluated.

권취 공정 중 열연 강판의 잔류 응력 해석 (Residual Stress Analysis of Rot Rolled Strip in Coiling Process)

  • Hot rolled strip is cooled by air and water in Run-Out-Table. In this process, phase transformation and shape deformation occurs due to temperature drop. Because of un-ideal cooling condition of ROT, irregular shape deformation and phase transformation arise in the strip. which affect the strip property and lead to the residual stress of strip. And these exert effects on the following processes, coiling process, coil cooling process, and re-coiling process. Through these processes, the residual stress becomes higher and severe. For the prediction of residual stress distribution and shape deformation of final product, Finite element(FE) based model was used. It consists of non-steady state heat transfer analysis, elasto-plastic analysis. thermodynamic analysis and phase transformation kinetics. Successive FEM simulation were applied from ROT process to coil cooling process. In each process simulation, previous process simulation results were used for the next process simulation. The simulation results were matched well with the experimental results.

용접 순서의 변화에 따른 자동차용 Frame의 변형과 잔류 응력 분석 (Deformation and Residual Stress Analysis of Automotive Frame Following as Welding Sequency Variation)

  • The high temperature thermal attacks in welding can affect the residual stress of a frame for automotive assembly accompanying frame deformation. Also the residual stress can induce the negative effect on durability performance of the automobile. In order to analyze the frame deformation, the simplified test frame which had the similar shape (form) of the real automotive frame was fabricated. The contactless optical 3D scanner was used for the shape difference measurement of the frame between before and after the welding. The FE-model of the test frame was composed and the deformation and residual stress simulation were performed. The simulated results were compared with the measured results for the reference of the frame design following as the variation of welding sequency. The deformation shape of the frame by simulation was in good agreement with that by the experimental measurement. In addition, the optimized welding sequency with reduced deformation after welding could be achieved through these analyses.

열 변형과 목적형상을 고려한 선체구조의 형상 최적설계 (Shape Design Optimization of Ship Structures Considering Thermal Deformation and Target Shape)

  • In this paper, we develop a shape design optimization method for thermo-elastoplasticity problems that is applicable to the welding or thermal deformation problems of ship structures. Shell elements and a programming language APDL in a commercial finite element analysis code, ANSYS, are employed in the shape optimization. The point of developed method is to determine the design parameters such that the deformed shape after welding fits very well to a desired design. The geometric parameters of surfaces are selected as the design parameters. The modified method of feasible direction (MMFD) and finite difference sensitivity are used for the optimization algorithm. Two numerical examples demonstrate that the developed shape design method is applicable to existing hull structures and effective for the structural design of ships.

  • A new method of optimal blank shape design using the initial nodal velocity (INOV) has been proposed for the drawings of arbitrary shaped cups. With the given information of tool shape and the final product shape, corresponding initial blank shape has been found from the motion of boundary nodes. Although the sensitivity method, the past work of Hynbo Shim and Kichan Son, has been proved to be excellent method to find optimal blank shapes, the method has a problem that a couple of deformation analysis is required at each design step and it also exhibits an abnormal behaviors in the rigid body rotation prevailing region. In the present method INOV, only a single deformation analysis per each design stage is required. Drawings of practical products as well as oil-pan have been chosen as the examples. At every case the optimal blank shapes have been obtained only after a few times of modification without predetermined deformation path. The deformed shape with predicted optimal blank almost coincides with the target shape at every case. Through the investigation the INOV is found to be very effective in the arbitrary shaped drawing process design.

변위제약을 받는 평면트러스 구조물의 형태해석기법에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Shape Analysis Method of Plane Truss Structures under the Prescribed Displacement)

  • 본 논문은 변위제약모드를 갖는 트러스구조물의 형태해석을 목적으로 하였으며, 이를 위하여 해의 존재조건과 무어-펜로즈(Moore-Penrose) 일반역행렬을 이용하였다. 또한, 수치해석과정에서의 변위제약모드로는 호몰로지변형(homologous deformation)을 고려하여 해석하였고, 다음으로 다양한 변위제약모드와 절점에 작용하는 하중비를 만족하는 구조물의 형태를 구하였다. 본 논문에서의 형태해석문제는 지정된 변위를 만족하는 구조물의 형태를 찾는 일종의 역문제(inverse problem)로서 일반적인 구조해석과정과는 반대되는 입장에서 접근하였다. 또한, 본 논문에서는 수치해석과정에서 근사해의 정도를 향상시키기 위하여 뉴튼-랩슨법을 사용하였고, 수치해석예제로서 부재의 배열형태에 따라 3가지모델을 선택하였으며, 이들 모델을 통하여 적용한 해석기법의 정확성과 효율성을 검증하였다.
