  • In the early 20'c, scientific thoughts make a change the absolute and separate concept of space-time into relative concept of continual entity; a kind of ideal world. It suggests that the meaning of geometry as absolute truth with which has endowed human beings would changed to a relative meaning of accumulation in intellectual work on 'nature'. This cognitive changes appeared into absolute arts in 20'c like Cubism, Superematism or Constructivism. De Stijl movement which had recepted the relative concepts like Einstein's 'theory of relativity' as a developed thought from Newton-Cartesian cognition on the world. Abstration would be adequate method for expressing the dynamics and interrelationship between forms and for giving values to indivisual elements in a compositiov. This method had appeared Modern architectural form, as a common framework. The expression characteristics of geometrical design in Deconstructive and Experimental architecture were summerized in four features through the results of the analysis. First, the relation of architectural element and intertextuality is expressed in discontinuation of context and refusal of functional building. Second, the concept of trace expresses as connection of place, decomposing of excavation of trace, trace of axis, trace of fragments. Third, anti-gravity expression is there to express of open cubic, to outgrow of rectangular system, to outgrow of volume, to separate of ground connectiov. Fourth, the complex composition of abstracted geometric form is these to abstracted geometry about indefinite shape, to layer through the overlap and collage, to de-meaning and amusement of form through the pursuit of uncertainty, to indeterminate of formal meaning through operation and composition of similar form cause to the diverse of meaning.

  • This study investigated the proceeding patterns of constructive play with lego blocks, and the differences on the quality of constructive play and symbolic play's pretending elements. The subjects were 132 children at child care centers and kindergarten: 64 three-year-olds (36 boy, 28 girl) and 68 five-year-olds (32 boy, 36 girl). The study found three proceeding patterns in the constructive lego play. First, children engaged in constructive and symbolic play simultaneously, or they switched back and forth between symbolic and constructive play. This pattern was termed as "constructive and symbolic play simultaneously or alternatively"(type 3), and it was occurred most frequently. Secondly, children focused only on constructing structures. This pattern was termed as "constructive play only"(type 1), Thirdly, children engaged in symbolic play only after they completed building some structures. This pattern was named "symbolic play after constructive play"(type 2). The findings also indicated that children who were categorized as type 1 and 2 showed higher quality of constructive play and longer duration in play than children as type 3. Five-year-old children sustained play longer and showed higher quality in terms of elaboration, imagination, and variety (number of blocks, shape of blocks). Furthermore, children as type 3 showed a higher level of imaginative play than children as type 1 and 2, especially in terms of role, objet, and context of projection.

  • A lobby of a hotel is an important space by which the image of a hotel as a whole, the brand-identity, is determined. This study has researched and analyzed the special property in presentation of a landmark in a hotel lobby for its spatial factors, which affects visual cognition, and it is to provide information that can set out the foundation of space design for the appropriate landmark in a certain hotel lobby corresponding to the unique characteristics of a hotel. The regional range of this study includes the lobby spaces of 10 five-star hotels in Shanghai China and Seoul Korea. The types of spatial factors as landmarks and manifestation of those, which affect the visual cognition of the users are the range of context in this study. For this study, field-study and survey were both used in research. The results that have been concluded through this study are as follow. First, manifestational quality of a landmark in a hotel lobby is represented in its size, figure and contrast of 'shape', in its visibility and territory of 'space' and in its symbolic value and historical property of 'meaning', and each of those factors are related to the others. Secondly, the types of spatial factors in a landmark are displayed as being focused on the openness of the space or with large-scaled spatial factors. Light and lumination intensify the manifestation of various spatial factors in a landmark. Thirdly, each representational characteristic of spatial factors in a landmark, which are closely linked to each other should be controlled precisely in order to bring out functional and symbolic feature of a hotel lobby.

  • Magneto-rheological elastomer (MR elastomer) is a smart material, because it has mechanical properties that change under a magnetic field. An MR elastomer changes its stiffness characteristics when the inner particles (iron particles) align along the direction of a magnetic field. There has been much research to make use of this characteristic to control vibration issues in various mechanical systems, such as for mounting systems in the automotive field, home appliances, etc. Furthermore, the friction and wear properties of MR elastomer have been studied, as these relate to the durability of the material needed to meet engineering requirements. Rolling friction (or rolling resistance) is one of these friction properties, but has not yet been studied in the context of MR elastomers. In this study, an MR elastomer is fabricated in the shape of a hollow cylinder to evaluate the rolling friction characteristic under a magnetic field. The test apparatus is setup and a strain gauge is used to calculate the rolling resistance under test conditions. Permanent magnets are used to supply the magnetic field during tests. The load and rolling speed conditions are also considered for the tests. The test results show that rolling friction characteristic has a different trend under different magnetic field, load, and rolling speed conditions. It is assumed that the stiffness change of an MR elastomer under a magnetic field has an effect on the rolling friction characteristic of the MR elastomer. For the future work, the rolling friction characteristics of MR elastomers will be controlled by adjusting the strength of the magnetic field using electromagnets.

  • In the chapter "Cheonwon-gidaeron(天元紀大論)" of "Hwangjenaegyeong(黃帝內經)", Lee-Gyujun(李圭晙) corrected "heaven has the rule of six and earth has the rule of five[天六地五]" to "heaven has the rule of five and earth has the rule of six[天五地六]", and "sovereign fire is bright[君火以明]" to "sovereign fire is summoning[君火以召]", which changes the meaning of the rule of circulation of the heaven and earth. Considering the context and many scholars' opinions, it was suggested that "sovereign fire naming[君火以名]" which was noted from Tang dynasty to Jin & Wen dynasty was corrected to "sovereign fire is bright[君火以明]" over Ming dynasty. In the corrections of Wangbing(王冰)'s Plain Questions, the sentence is written as "sovereign fire naming[君火以名]". The two characters, '明' and '名' are hardly similar in both shape and meaning, that it is only plausible to assume that it was mistaken for '召'. Consequently, we corrected "sovereign fire is bright[君火以明]" to "sovereign fire is summoning[君火以召]". And "sovereign fire is summoning, ministerial fire is locating[君火以召, 相火以位]", it raise "the rule of five and six is combined together[五六相合]". "The rule of five and six is combined together' means 'heaven's number of five" coincide "earth's number of six", and it says former times before dividing up and down.

  • Different method of textile fabrication had existed since the ancient times, but the most dominant form was the 'weaving' method which embodies the cross fabrication of vertical and horizontal threads using special weaving machines (looms). In addition, fabrication methods like knitting, felt, and lace were commonly practiced while intertwinement methods like twisting, braiding, and knotting techniques were frequently used for weaving strings and braid type textiles. In the past, people did not pay attention to strings and braids because they were classified as non-textiles, but, in this paper, we have expanded the scope of definition of textile to include strings and braids, and seek to conduct in-depth research on various different intertwinement of textiles. The adaptation of intertwinement method in arts and crafts enables limitless creative works reflecting the ever-changing taste and style of the creator. This creativity is further broadened by the fact that intertwinement methods encompass no set patterns and the subject and shape of its creation is as broad as its artistic pursuits. We can infer the knowledge of our ancestors, their aesthetic taste, and the pattern of life from these creations. In addition, these creations can provide comfort and improve the quality of life of modem people who are deeply deprived of sentimental and emotional solitude in the technological civilization of the 21stcentury. The main purpose of this paper is to examine traditional Korean arts and crafts made using the intertwinement methodology through the context of strings, braids, straw crafts and knotting method. Then it will conduct through research on the different materials, forms, characteristics, usage and other key notions based on the currently preserved records and relics to contribute to the research on traditional textiles and provide the foundations to the development of the Korean culture and cultural products, reflecting the true sole and aesthetics of traditional Korean textile crafts.

  • In this paper, a flight techniques many quadcopters which can be configured flexibly squadron according to the situation in wireless sensor networks is suggested. In previous studies, aircrafts fly only as part of a prescribed form and know the distance between the aircraft by sensor was able to maintain the fleet. Also, the problem occurs that between the aircraft distance is not constant. In this paper, proposes an algorithm that the context of the formation fly using the current position of the quadcopter through a virtual map is based on the relative coordinates without being affected by Indoor, outdoor and obstacles. Proposed algorithm is Leader-Follower Technique that the method of determinin the shape of the squadron to the down command to the sub-quadcopter using the wireless network by the main quadcopter to determine a given situation. As simulation result, the proposed algorithm was confirmed that formation flight efficient in sensing the all conditions as compared to the conventional method.

  • Although airborne pollen is invisible to the eye, it has been known as a major source to respiratory allergic reactions. For this reason, airborne pollen is monitoring in many countries to predict pollen concentration based on locality and season. However, the morphological characteristics of airborne pollen and their potential tendency as an allergen are still obscure. In the present study, we selected 52 airborne pollen samples based on previously reported data and investigated their detail pollen characteristics using LM and SEM. Major airborne pollen in Korea has sorted in 19 families (most angiosperms except four gymnosperm families), and all pollen grains are small to medium in size ($P=17.34-49.86{\mu}m$) apart from the bisaccate pollen grains of Pinaceae ($P=46.49-106.20{\mu}m$). The aperture number and shape vary from sulcate to polyporate. While the inaperture pollen has found only in gymnosperm (Cupressaceae and Taxaceae), triporate or polyporate is common pollen type in angiosperm. The sexine ornamentations could divide into several types, but the most sculpturing types are inconspicuous like psilate, rugulate and granulate. Reticulate pollen grains as a semitectum have occurred the species of genera Platanus and Fraxinus only. To estimate the possible relationships between pollen features and allergen, the results are discussed in botanical context.

  • The purpose of this thesis is to explore a common characteristic of the diverse oriental images mainly from the figurative point of view, and apply it to the contemporary expressions and methods of painting. To do that, I separated the concept of figure into two factors - form and image - and then approached and solved the problems of figure by explaining the two factors respectively. Separating form from image is neither to set two factors against each other nor to isolate any of those values. It is worth dividing the form and the image not only because the image of the oriental painting has a figurative value constituted from an external frame of the form, but also because it has a close connection with the meaning that the form holds inside. These are the reasons why I conceptualize the individual language of form and image. Furthermore, I attempted to investigate how those two factors and mutual relations between them make real figurative images under the principle of harmony and coexistence. The theme of this thesis - the figurative aesthetics and its contemporaneity in the oriental paintings is analyzed based on the understanding of 'figure' within the framework of oriental paintings. A research of image from the figurative point of view is valuable in that it criticizes the past method of thinking, and proposes an alternative formula for new way of thinking. In this regard, I indicated the limit of the theory of form-and-spirit that has been one of the most important conceptual theories . Instead, I' accessed to various aesthetic concepts - that are created in the course of image formulation - from the actual figurative point of view, and then even interpreted it as a figurative value of the oriental paintings and it's application within the specific and practical scope. During the course of research, I explored the conceptual elements of the tradition and the principle of figuration. I expect this study to make a footstone for bringing traditional aesthetics to the contemporary context of oriental painting.
