Computational speed plays key role in background subtraction and shadow detection, because those are only preprocessing steps of a moving object segmentation, tracking and activity recognition. A color intensity variation based approach fastly detect a moving object and extract shadow in a image sequences. The moving object is subtracted from background using meanmax, meanmin thresholds and shadow is detected by decrease limit and correspondence thresholds. The proposed approach relies on the ability to represent shadow cast impact by offline experiment dataset on sub grouped RGB color space.

ShadowCam is a National Aeronautics and Space Administration Advanced Exploration Systems funded instrument hosted onboard the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) Korea Pathfinder Lunar Orbiter (KPLO) satellite. By collecting high-resolution images of permanently shadowed regions (PSRs), ShadowCam will provide critical information about the distribution and accessibility of water ice and other volatiles at spatial scales (1.7 m/pixel) required to mitigate risks and maximize the results of future exploration activities. The PSRs never see direct sunlight and are illuminated only by light reflected from nearby topographic highs. Since secondary illumination is very dim, ShadowCam was designed to be over 200 times more sensitive than previous imagers like the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera Narrow Angle Camera (LROC NAC). ShadowCam images thus allow for unprecedented views into the shadows, but saturate while imaging sunlit terrain.

Lunar permanently shadowed regions (PSRs) never see direct sunlight and are illuminated only by secondary illumination - light reflected from nearby topography. The ShadowCam imaging experiment onboard the Korea Pathfinder Lunar Orbiter is acquiring images of these PSRs. We characterize and discuss the nature of secondary illumination for the Shackleton PSR from ShadowCam radiance-calibrated images. We also use modeling to understand the magnitude and direction of the secondary illumination. Results from our analysis highlight the non-homogeneous, dynamic, and complex nature of PSR secondary lighting. Knowledge of the direction of the secondary illumination is crucial for reli-able interpretation of contrasts observed in ShadowCam images. This preliminary analysis of the floor of Shackleton crater from images acquired over multiple secondary illumination conditions does not reveal indications of exposed surface ice, even though temperatures are constantly below 110K.

ShadowCam is a high-sensitivity, high-resolution imager provided by NASA for the Danuri (KPLO) lunar mission. ShadowCam calibration shows that it is well suited for its purpose, to image permanently shadowed regions (PSRs) that occur near the lunar poles. It is 205 times as sensitive as the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera (LROC) Narrow Angle Camera (NAC). The signal to noise ratio (SNR) is greater than 100 over a large part of the dynamic range, and the top of the dynamic range is high enough to accommodate most brighter PSR pixels. The optical performance is good enough to take full advantage of the 1.7 meter/pixel image scale, and calibrated images have uniform response. We describe some instrument artifacts that are amenable to future corrections, making it possible to improve performance further. Stray light control is very challenging for this mission. In many cases, ShadowCam can image shadowed areas with directly illuminated terrain in or near the field of view (FOV). We include thorough qualitative descriptions of circumstances under which lunar brightness levels far higher than the top of the dynamic range cause detector or stray light artifacts and the size and extent of the artifact signal under those circumstances.
In the images of a video camera employed for surveillance, detecting targets by extracting foreground image is of great importance. The foreground regions detected, however, include not only moving targets but also their shadows. This paper presents a novel technique to detect shadow pixels in the foreground image of a video camera. The image characteristics of video cameras employed, a web-cam and a CCD, are first analysed in the HSV color space and a pixel-level shadow detection technique is proposed based on the analysis. Compared with existing techniques where unified criteria are used to all pixels, the proposed technique determines shadow pixels utilizing a fact that the effect of shadowing to each pixel is different depending on its brightness in background image. Such an approach can accommodate local features in an image and hold consistent performance even in changing environment. In experiments targeting pedestrians, the proposed technique showed better results compared with an existing technique.

The exploration of the solar system is carried out through various payloads, and accordingly, many research results are emerging. We tried to apply deep-learning as a method of studying the bodies of solar system. Unlike Earth observation satellite data, the data of solar system differ greatly from celestial bodies to probes and to payloads of each probe. Therefore, it may be difficult to apply it to various data with the deep-learning model, but we expect that it will be able to reduce human errors or compensate for missing parts. We have implemented a model that detects craters on the lunar surface. A model was created using the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera (LROC) image and the provided shapefile as input values, and applied to the lunar surface image. Although the result was not satisfactory, it will be applied to the image of the permanently shadow regions of the Moon, which is finally acquired by ShadowCam through image pre-processing and model modification. In addition, by attempting to apply it to Ceres and Mercury, which have similar the lunar surface, it is intended to suggest that deep-learning is another method for the study of the solar system.
With the popularization of 5G networks and the development of AI (artificial intelligence) technology, Metaverse, which creates production capacity by combining virtual space and reality, is attracting attention. In this study, we searched for makeup applications with more than 100 million downloads from October 11, 2020 to November 3, 2020 through the Google Play Store. As a result of the search, four applications were found: YouCam Makeup, YouCam Perfect, Beauty Plus, and Sweet Snap. Based on the functions provided by the four applications, we attempted to suggest makeup functions applicable to Zepeto's avatar. Functions for the eyes (eyeliner, eyelashes, mascara, eye shadow, eye shape, eyebrow shape, lenses, double eyelids), functions for the nose (nose shape), functions for the mouth (lipstick, lip shape, smile function) ) Functions corresponding to the facial contour (contour, skin foundation, blusher, shading, highlighter, face painting, theme makeup) and functions corresponding to the body (body adjustment) were proposed. This study is the first in the beauty field to propose a method of applying the functions of the Metaverse platform as the importance of digital platforms is highlighted, and is the first to propose a makeup function applied to the Metaverse so that it can be used as important basic data in the future.
Cutting process has been automated due to progress of CNC and CAD/CAM, but polishing process has been only depended on experiential knowledge of expert. Polishing work for a curved surface die demands simple and repetitive operations but requires much time for its high precision. Therefore it is operated in the handiwork by skilled worker. However the workers intend to avoid gradually polishing work because of the poor environments such as dust and noise. In order to reduce the polishing time and solve the problem of shortage of skilled workers, it has been done some research for an automation of polishing. To automate the polishing process, a 2 axes polishing robot which is attached to a 3 axes machining center has been developed by our previous research. This automatic polishing robot is able to keep the polishing tool normal on the curved surface of die. Therefore its performance of polishing is improved because of always keeping the tool normal on the surface. In this paper, the smaller sized polishing robot is developed to improve polishing performance. And the controller for 2 axes polishing robot is developed. The controller is composed of TMS320C31 with high speed which is 40-ns instruction cycle time, RAM memory with 64K words, digital input with 64 bits, digital output with 32 bits, and D/A converter with 4 channels, which is 12 bits resolution. To evaluate polishing performance of this developed robot, polishing experiment for shadow mask was carried out.
In this paper, we propose Modified Multi CAMShift Algorithm based on Kalman filter and Weighted Search Windows(KWMCAMShift) that extracts skin color area and tracks several human body parts for real-time human tracking system. We propose modified CAMShift algorithm that generates background model, extracts skin area of hands and head, and tracks the body parts. Kalman filter stabilizes tracking search window of skin area due to changing skin area in consecutive frames. Each occlusion areas is avoided by using weighted window of non-search areas and main-search area. And shadows are eliminated from background model and intensity of shadow. The proposed KWMCAMShift algorithm can estimate human pose in real-time and achieves 96.82% accuracy even in the case of occlusions.
Porcelain is the first ceramic material to be introduced into dentistry. Porcelain jacket crown was introduced by Dr. Charles H Land in 1886, which was an excellent aesthetic dental restoration but has not been widely used due to high firing shrinkage and low tensile strength. Then metal-ceramic system, which combines the esthetic properties of ceramics and the mechanical properties of metals, was introduced and nowadays it is still used in dental clinical field. However, the metal-ceramic system has shown some problems, such as increased lightness by reflection of light at opaque layer, shadow beneath the gingival line due to the block-out of light by metal coping, exposure of metal in margin part, bond failure between metal and porcelain, oxidation of metal coping during firing the porcelain, etc. Recently, along with the advance of fabrication methods of dental ceramics, the all-ceramic restorations with high esthetic and mechanical properties has increased and gradually replaced metal-ceramic restorations. Especially, CAD/CAM technology has opened a new era in fabricating the dental ceramic restorations. This overview will take a look at the past, present and future possibility of the dental ceramic materials.
