  • The present study examines the role of commitment in dating relationships. Using 354 university students, the data show that commitment is positively related to premarital sexual behavior, especially for highly experienced females. The development of dating relations is significantly related to the level of commitment for both males and females and the differences between groups are more obvious for female students. Commitment increases as duration of dating relations increases. While females generally show higher commitment at more advanced dating relationships than males, males indicate higher commitment at beginning stages than females. The implications of these findings are dicussed.

  • Many types for environmental pollutant of endocrine disruptors have been reported on abnormal sexual development and abnormal feminizing responses of animals in a number of literatures [1]. Conventional biological methods for the removal of pollutants in wastewater require long times, and chemical oxiation methods in general cannot completely eliminate.(omitted)

  • The recent policy statement by the Cancer Council of Australia on infant circumcision and cancer prevention and the announcement that the quadrivalent human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine will be made available for boys in Australia prompted us to provide an assessment of genital cancer prevention. While HPV vaccination of boys should help reduce anal cancer in homosexual men and cervical cancer in women, it will have little or no impact on penile or prostate cancer. Male circumcision can reduce cervical, penile and possibly prostate cancer. Promotion of both HPV vaccination and male circumcision will synergistically maximize genital cancer prevention.

  • Purpose: This study was done to develop a children's sex education program for the parents of lower elementary grade students and to evaluate its effects on sexual knowledge, gender role attitude, parent efficacy for child's sex education, and marital consistency. Methods: A quasi-experimental with a non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest design was used. The participants were 29 couples (58 parents, experimental group=28, control group=30) from G city. The 5-week (5-session) program was developed based on 'A theory of protection: parents as sex educators' and used the case-based small group learning method. Data were collected during July and August 2015. The characteristics of the program developed in the present study were a theoretical-based, client-centered, multi-method. Results: After the intervention, the experimental group showed a significant improvement in sexual knowledge, gender role attitudes, parent efficacy for child's sex education, and marital consistency, compared to the control group. The effect sizes of the program were .64 (knowledge), .65 (gender role attitudes), and .68 (parent efficacy). Conclusion: The results of this study provided implications for the parents as effective sex educator and the role expansion of school health nurses.

  • Hypnosis as a traditional healing method, in its recent development, has generated a multitude of techniques. These serve as practical tools which can be combined with other therapy techniques for the treatment of a variety of psychiatric and medical conditions. The empirical evidence for the effectiveness of hypnosis is considerable and proves its clinical impact in various areas of application. This case review describes the integration of hypnotherapeutic methods into the continuum of psychiatric encounters in a general practice. Guidelines for the application of hypnosis in approaching and treating each patients with headache, sexual dysfunction and bronchial asthma were illustrated. As hypotheses mechanism of effectiveness in psychosomatic disorders has been formulated. Training in hypnotherapy provides the psychiatrist with skills needed to address psychophysiological disorders. Emphasis is placed on the necessity and opportunity for research on the efficacy and specific technique of hypnosis in the psychosomatic disorders.

  • Purposes: This study was designed to survey current and past health promotion programs in schools and to assess the needs of health promotion programs based upon the opinions of health teachers. Methods: Self-report questionnaire were given to health teachers who attended board meetings in each province or who participated in a qualification training course in Daegu. The questionnaire was developed by authors and revised it based on experts' advice. Results: The most common health promotion programs were sexual education, sexual violence prevention, drug abuse prevention, first aid, dental health. In contrast, many mental health promotion programs, such as suicide prevention, ADHD, and those involving personality disorders were all relatively uncommon. The needs of health promotion programs showed almost same priority with health promotion programs that are being done. Conclusions: The development of effective health promotion programs requires input from students, parents, teachers, experts, and health teachers.

  • Respiration in Antheraea mylitta was studied using constant pressure respirometer. Oxygen uptake in different stages of life showed that moth has highest rate of oxygen uptake as compared to larva and pupa. At each stage significant sexual differentiation was observed. Depression in the rate of oxygen uptake in diapausing pupa was found to be higher in male ($65.75\%$) than female ($60.65\%$) as compared to non-diapausing counterparts. During diapause lowest oxygen uptake was recorded in the month of February, and were in the order of February < January < December < March < November < April < May < June in male, and, February < January < December < March < April < November < May < June in female. Significant sexual differentiation in oxygen uptake was recorded throughout the period of diapause (November to June) where female pupae registered lower rate of oxygen uptake than that of male. Oxygen uptake in female pupae declined upto $28.89\%$ in non-diapausing and $18.29\%$ in diapausing broods over male. Highest respiratory quotient value was recorded in the moth of November (0.68 in male and 0.70 in female) and, the lowest in the month of March in male (0.54) and May in female (0.55). Percentage loss in pupa weight always remained at a significantly higher level in male (except in February and March). The lowest oxygen uptake rate and weight loss in the month of February shows that the pupae were at peak of their dormancy during this month.

  • This study focused on the relationship between ego- resilience and stress coping styles of male and female adolescents. The study also tried to identify differences in stress coping styles based on sexual differences and the level of ego- resilience in adolescents. Ego-resilience showed a positive correlation to problem-focused and social support seeking coping styles and a negative correlation to emotion-focused coping style for both male and female adolescents. Canonical Correlation analysis revealed that self-confidence among four sub-domains of ego-resilience made the most outstanding contributions in predicting stress coping styles of female adolescents. The self-confident female adolescents tended to use the problem-focused coping style. For male adolescents, the optimistic attitude among four sub-domains of ego-resilience was the most significant factor in predicting emotion-focused coping style. Female adolescents tended to use more varied coping strategies than male adolescents in stressful situations. The group of adolescents who had a higher level of ego-resilience reported more problem-focused and social support- seeking coping styles in stressful situations. Conversely the group of adolescents with lower level of ego-resilience tended to use emotion-focused coping strategy. The results of this study have important implications for theory, research, and practice. Development of ego-resilience in adolescents based on sexual differences was an important task for their effective coping strategies.
