반도체 산업 노동자 암 발생 위험 논란과 과제 (Challenges and issues of cancer risk on workers in the semiconductor industry)

  • Objectives: The objectives of this study are to summary controversy over health risks among semiconductor workers, to review major cancer risk results conducted in semiconductor operation and to evaluate occupational health activities in Korea for controlling hazardous agents generated in semiconductor operations Methods: Major occupational health issues that has been social controversies among semiconductor workers since 2007 were reviewed through an extensive literature, report and article review. Results: Since a female semiconductor worker aged 22 died from leukemia in 2007, job-association of a number of former semiconductor workers with various types of cancer and rare diseases have been denied by the Korea Workers' Compensation and Welfare Service (KWCWS), but some of them were later awarded compensation as an occupational disease by the administrative court. Two epidemiologic cancer risk studies conducted in Korea found increased risks in leukemia and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma among semiconductor workers. Various legal occupational health activities taken in semiconductor industry were found to fail to assess a complex characteristics of semiconductor operations, such as drastic changes in chemical use, processes, and technology, multiple exposure. National compensation regulation also showed the limitation to evaluate job-association of semiconductor workers who had worked in semiconductor operation. Conclusions: National legal measures should be taken to improve several occupational health activities and duties for protecting workers. In addition, the KWCWS program should be revised so that all workers who meet minimal job or environment associations can be compensated.

외식업 종사자들의 근무 형태에 따른 만족도 연구 (The Study of Satisfactory Degree based on the Working Type in Foodservice Industry)

  • The meaning of foodservice industry is various but especially its most important one contains a service industry. And so, foodservice industry should provide very impressive service to customers. if workers don't satisfy themselves at the works, they can not give a high qualifying service to the customers. Therefore, this study showed how the worker's satisfactory degree depending on working type effects on the growth of foodservice industry. The conclusions by questionnaires to workers who have worked as both a regular and a contract employment at Special First Degree Hotels in Seoul are followings. Very interestingly, the proportion of satisfying degree for the workers as regular is 34.94% but the degree for workers as contract is 36.8%. The reason is that the average age of regular workers is high and they have their family to support and they have changed their job more often than the others. They can express their problems through a labor union but the part of solution is very small. It must cause to decrease satisfying degree. The workers generally satisfied to their senior employers. It means that the negative image of higher-ups in the past has been changed. It is a serious problem that the proportion of satisfaction degree remains 30%. The managements must perceive the fact that the increase ratio of contract workers does not make low quality of service. They should know that the satisfaction degree of regular workers is lower than contract ones. In order to increase the satisfaction degree, if the managements can find out the way of taking over their authority and giving a motive, they can reduce the ratio of occupation change and nonattendance. And also they can promote the productivity in foodservice industry and in conclusion, the foodservice industry will have glowed very successfully in the near future.

광물성 분진 노출 이직노동자에서 만성폐쇄성폐질환과 호기응축액 중의 malondialdehyde 및 혈청 염증지표 간의 관련성 (The Relationship between Malondialdehyde in Exhaled Breath Condensate and Inflammatory Markers in Serum and COPD in Retired Workers Exposed to Mineral Dust)

  • Objectives: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD) is an important cause of mortality in workers exposed to hazardous dust, such as crystalline silica or coal, and COPD is related to inflammation and oxidative stress in the lung. The aim of this study was to evaluate the association of oxidative stress and inflammation to COPD in retired workers exposed to mineral dust. Methods: The levels of malondialdehyde(MDA) in EBC as biomarkers for oxidative stress and C-reactive protein(CRP) and lactate dehydrogenase(LD) as biomarkers for inflammation were measured in 107 male subjects(63 pneumoconiosis and 42 COPD subjects). Results: Mean levels of EBC MDA(2.03 nmol/L vs. 4.65 nmol/L, p=0.010) and serum LD(170.3 U/L vs. 185.9 U/L, p=0.022) were significantly higher in subjects with COPD, but mean levels of serum CRP(p=0.469) did not show a statistical difference between the study groups. Level of EBC MDA was negatively correlated with ${%}FEV_1$ predicted(r=-0.279, p=0.004) and ${%}FEV_1/FVC$ ratio(r=-0.397, p<0.001). Conclusions: These results suggest that EBC is a useful biological matrix for investigation of respiratory oxidative stress. High levels of EBC MDA and serum LD are related to COPD in retired workers exposed to mineral dust.

사회서비스 종사자의 임파워먼트가 서비스지향성에 미치는 영향: 직업존중감의 매개효과를 중심으로 (Effects of Empowerment of Social Service Workers on Service Orientation: Focusing on the Mediating Effect of Job-esteem Attitude)

  • 본 연구는 사회서비스 종사자의 임파워먼트가 서비스지향성에 미치는 영향에 대한 직업존중감의 매개효과를 검증하고자 충청북도 지역자율형 사회서비스투자사업 제공인력 대상으로 설문조사하여 329부의 자료를 분석하였다. 주요 연구결과는, 임파워먼트 하위요인 중에서 업무수행 관계와 개인적 업무지향이 직업존중감에 유의미한 영향을 미치며, 업무환경 통제 임파워먼트가 서비스지향성 하위요인 모두(신뢰지향, 성실지향, 유형지향)에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 개인적 업무지향 임파워먼트는 서비스지향성 하위요인 중 성실지향과 유형지향에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 사회서비스 종사자의 임파워먼트는 직업존중감을 매개로 서비스지향성에 긍정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 매개변수인 직업존중감은 서비스지향성의 하위변인인 성실지향과 유형지향에 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인하였다. 이에 사회서비스 종사자의 서비스지향성 제고를 위해 명확한 업무이해를 위한 매뉴얼 개발과 종사자 스스로 능력을 개발할 수 있도록 지속적이고 실질적인 보수교육이 필요하며, 서비스 전달자로서 다양한 이용자를 대상으로 서비스지향적 태도를 가질 수 있도록 제도적, 정책적 보완이 필요함을 제안하였다.

  • The service industry will be essentially extended during the economic growth and industrial development. Especially, the role of workers meeting the customers in service industry is very important from the view point of purchase intention. So many companies in service industry endeavor to increase the work efficacies of workers through the various prizes and incentives, and improve the job performance by additional education. Recently, the incentive tours are comprehensively accepted as an efficient tool to promote the loyalty and job performance of workers. The incentive tours enable the worker to gain the cultural experiences. They will experience not only the natural heritages and antiques, but also the local life culture and arts culture. The culture marketing for worker as the internal customer increase the worker's loyalty and the ties among workers, and therefore, their job performance will be increased. The empirical results (162 workers surveyed) showed the incentive tours have improved both the individual and group's job performance at a cosmetic sales organization. So it is recommend to plan the organization specific incentive tour in order to improve the productivity of the service organization.

Factors that Affect Depression and Anxiety in Service and Sales Workers Who Interact With Angry Clients

  • Introduction: We evaluated depression and anxiety in service and sales workers from Korea who interacted with angry clients to identify factors that mediated and moderated depression and anxiety in these workers. Methods: This was a secondary analysis of data from the fifth Korean Working Conditions Survey conducted in 2017. A structural equation model was used for mediation and moderation analysis. Results: Service and sales workers who had more interactions with angry clients had increased risk for depression and anxiety. Experiencing clients' adverse behaviors (acute episodes) mediated the relationship between interacting with angry clients (a chronic situation) on depression and anxiety. Job satisfaction and managers' support moderated the relationship between interacting with angry clients and mental health problems. Conclusion: We suggest that employers of service and sales workers should recruit staff based on their aptitude for such work, thus ensuring job satisfaction, and train them to deal with angry clients in such a way that they experience less emotional burden. Employers should also make bylaws requiring managers to directly take care of adverse social behavior by clients. Furthermore, a sociocultural campaign to prevent adverse social behavior by clients is also needed.

동료지지가 서비스직원의 자기 효능과 직무성과에 미치는 영향 (A Study on the Effect of Coworkers Social Support on Service Employee's Self-Efficacy and Job Performance.)

  • 4차 산업혁명 시대에 서비스기업에서도 각기 다른 다양한 차별화 정책을 내세우고 있다. 기존까지 단순하게 고객을 만족시켜 매출을 높이기위한 방법이 아닌 좀 더 원시안적 시각을 갖고 서비스를 제공하는 직원들의 마인드와 그들이 느끼는 환경에 대한 중요성이 점차 커지고 있다. 서비스기업은 궁극적으로 고객만족, 품질향상, 가치 있는 경영 등 긍정적인 경영성과를 나타내기 위하여 끊임없는 노력을 기울이고 있으며 다른 산업에 비하여 직원에 대한 높은 의존도를 가지고 있다. 따라서 고객들을 직접적으로 응대해야하는 서비스제공자인 직원의 마음가짐과 부여된 환경, 역량 등이 직 간접적으로 고객만족 및 성과에 큰 영향을 미칠 수 있다. 궁극적인 조직의 성과를 높이고 경쟁우위를 갖추기 위해서는 결국 서비스 제공자인 직원들에 대하여 개인역량 개발, 근무환경 지원 등 다양한 형태의 사회적 지지가 중요하다고 할 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 사회적 지지가 서비스종사원의 긍정심리자본, 창의성, 직무성과에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구에 대한 후속연구로 서비스프로세스 메트릭스 가운데 대량서비스영역인 도매점, 소매점, 학교, 은행 등에 종사하는 직원들을 대상으로 동료지지가 자기 효능감을 통하여 성과에 어떠한 영향을 주는지 살펴보았으며, 그 결과 총 3개의 가설 중 3개 모두 채택되었다. 동료와 전반적인 관계가 원활해지면 자기 효능감 또한 향상되고, 자기효능감이 높을수록 직무성과도 높게 나타나며, 동료와 업무적으로나 업무이외에 전반적으로 의지할 수 있다고 느끼는 경우 직무성과도 높게 나타나는 것을 알 수 있다. 본 연구는 대량서비스영역에 종사하는 직원들을 실증분석 대상으로 한 관련연구는 전무한 실정으로 지금까지 연구와는 좀 더 다른 관점으로 접근하여 서비스기업의 경쟁력을 높이기 위한 인적자원관리 측면에서의 전략을 좀 더 효율적이고 효과적으로 제시하여 관련 시사점을 제시하고자 한다.

사회복지사의 전문성이 서비스 질에 미치는 영향 연구 : 사회자본의 매개효과를 중심으로 (Effect of Professionalism of Social Workers on Service Quality : Focusing on the Mediating Effect of Social Capital)

  • 본 연구는 사회복지사의 전문성과 서비스 질의 관계에서 사회자본의 매개효과를 실증분석 하였다. 편의 표집방법으로 충청북도 지역 사회복지사를 대상으로 수집한 자료(276개 사례)를 활용하여 기술통계 및 위계적 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 기술통계 결과는 5점 리커트 척도에서 사회복지사 전문성 3.36, 사회자본의 하위유형 중 네트워크는 3.43, 신뢰는 3.67 및 서비스 질 4.00점의 평균값을 보였다. 사회복지사의 전문성과 서비스 질의 관계에서 사회자본의 하위유형인 네트워크와 신뢰는 각각 부분매개효과를 지니고 있는 것으로 검증되었다. 즉, 사회복지사의 전문성이 높으면 네트워크와 신뢰가 확대되고, 확대된 네트워크와 신뢰는 서비스 질을 향상시키는 유의한 영향력이 확인되었다. 분석결과를 토대로 서비스 질을 높이기 위한 방안으로서의 사회자본의 활성화를 위한 이론적 및 실천적 함의를 제시하였다.

광업 이직근로자에서 잠복결핵감염 위험요인 분석 (Risk Factors for Associated with Latent Tuberculosis Infection among Former Mine Workers)

  • Objectives: To identify the positive rate of and the risk factors associated with latent tuberculosis infection(LTBI) in mine workers, the objectives of the present study evaluated those among former mine workers. Methods: Between January 2015 and May 2017, former male mine workers who had been subjects for epidemiology research for work-related chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD) and had received QuantiFERON-$TB^{(R)}$ Gold In-Tube(QFT-GIT) from the Institute of Occupation and Environment(IOE) under Korea Workers' Compensation and Welfare Service(KCOMWEL) were selected as the study subjects. To identify significant variables for increased risk of LTBI, logistic regression analysis was performed. Results: A total of 736 male former mine workers were selected as study subjects. The positive rate of LTBI among subjects was 69.2%(509/736). The current smoking[odds ratio(OR), 2.3; 95% confidence interval(CI), 1.1-4.9], COPD(OR, 1.4; 95% CI, 0.9-2.3), department loading(OR, 1.8; 95% CI, 0.9-3.4) and mining(OR, 1.5; 95% CI, 0.9-2.5), and working duration of over 20(OR, 1.6; 95% CI, 0.9-3.1) and over 30 years(OR, 2.2; 95% CI, 0.9-4.9) were associated with increased risk of LTBI. The interferon-gamma(IFN-${\gamma}$) level after stimulation with Mycobacterium tuberculosis(MTB)-specific antigens showed a significantly negative correlation with age(r=-0.126). Conclusions: The present study determined that the high positive rate of LTBI among mine workers was associated with not only the host factors but also the occupational exposure to mine dust.

과거 무기분진에 노출된 이직근로자들의 연간 폐기능 변화 (Annual Changes of Lung Function in Retired Workers Exposed to Inorganic Dusts)

  • Background: The aim of this study was to investigate annual changes in pulmonary function in workers who were exposed to inorganic dust. Methods: The subjects were 2,922 male patients who had been diagnosed with pneumoconiosis more than twice during 6 years from 2005 to 2010. Results: Of the 2,922 cases, forced vital capacity (FVC) decreased by 54 mL in 1 year. In contrast, the annual change of forced expiratory volume in one second ($FEV_1$) decreased by 56 mL. Conclusion: This is the first study that has investigated the annual change in pulmonary function in workers exposed to inorganic dust. The results will help estimate the pulmonary condition of patients who are unable to perform a pulmonary function test due to age or a disorder.
