  • SLA (Service Level Agreement) is an essential factor that must be guaranteed to provide a reliable and consistent service to user in cloud computing environment. Especially, a contract between user and service provider with SLA is important in an environment using a cloud service brokerage. The cloud computing is classified into IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS according to IT resources of the various cloud service. The existing SLA is difficult to reflect the quality factors of service, because it only considers factors about the physical Network environment and have no methodological approach. In this paper, we suggested a method to specify the quality characteristics of software and proposed a mechanism and structure that can exchange SLA specification between the service provider and consumer. We defined a meta-model for the SLA specification in the SaaS level, and quality requirements of the SaaS were described by the proposed specification language. Through case studies, we verified proposed specification language that can present a variety of software quality factors. By using the UDDI-based mediation process and architecture to interchange this specification, it is stored in the repository of quality specifications and exchanged during service binding time.

  • In recent years, technology is rapidly changing to support new service consumption and distribution models in multimedia service systems and hybrid delivery of media services is a key factor for enabling next generation multimedia services. This phenomenon can lead to rapidly increasing network traffic and ultimately has a direct and aggravating effect on the user's quality of service (QOS). To address the issue, we propose a novel system architecture to provide smart hybrid media services efficiently. The architecture is designed to apply the software-defined networking (SDN) method, detect changes in traffic, and combine the data, including user data, service features, and computation node status, to provide a service schedule that is suitable for the current state. To this end, the proposed architecture is based on 2-level scheduling, where Level-1 scheduling is responsible for the best network path and a computation node for processing the user request, whereas Level-2 scheduling deals with individual service requests that arrived at the computation node. This paper describes the overall concept of the architecture, as well as the functions of each component. In addition, this paper describes potential scenarios that demonstrate how this architecture could provide services more efficiently than current media-service architectures.

  • The content of this paper is concerned with the pricing decision model when the new telecommunication service enter into market. The pricing decision model of firm level is based on the problems of the previous service pricing model that are abstracted from the literature survey. We suggest a new pricing model and prove the model's fitness using the way of empirical simulation study. We empirically apply the proposed model to obtain the price level of such a new service as the convergence service between mobile communication service and broadcasting service. finally, we prove that the proposed model is successful because we get the new . service price based on the pricing decision model suggested in this paper.

  • This paper proposes an approach to analyzing the relationship between technology and services, and to identifying promising service areas for technology-based firms with the analysis of business model (BM) patents. First, BM patents and technology patents are collected and classified into their relevant categories, respectively. Second, patent citation analysis is conducted to analyze the linkage and impacts between each technology and service field at macro level. Third, as a micro level analysis, patent co-classification analysis is employed to identify the interrelationships among specific technology and service areas. Finally, the promising service areas for technology-based firms seeking service areas for diversification is investigated with portfolio analysis. The working of the proposed approach is provided with the help of a case study of IT and mobile services. The proposed approach could guide and help managers of technology-based firms to discover the opportunity of the diversification to new areas in emerging service fields.

  • Growth of the Korean economy has been sluggish, and this situation is more pronounced in the service sector. We argue that capital misallocation, especially in the service sector, could contribute to this slowdown. Utilizing firm and sectoral level data, first we assess the rising dispersion of the marginal revenue product of capital (MRPK) driven by the service sector. This could represent a widening misallocation of capital. Furthermore, a panel regression shows that within-sector misallocations at the sectoral level are closely correlated with the lower growth rate of sectoral real value added. Again, this is mainly observed in the service sector, but not in the manufacturing sector. Misallocations of other resources, labor and the intermediate inputs do not stand out.
