  • This paper has two main objectives. The primary objective is to conduct a comprehensive review of existing survey papers on the advantages, disadvantages, taxonomy, and technical vulnerabilities of cryptocurrency custody services. Additionally, we examined recent regulatory developments, the application of existing frameworks, conditions for performing custody services, and service providers' obligations. The secondary objective is to identify DeFi protocols in the regulatory 'grey area' and analyze their technical aspects and governance mechanisms. By synthesizing these findings, we propose guidelines for assessing DeFi decentralization and their potential for integration within the regulatory framework, providing insights for industry experts, regulators, and policymakers to balance industry needs with societal benefits.

  • Background: Computed tomography (CT) scans in the Republic of Korea have spiked, reaching approximately 9 million examinations annually in 2017. CT provides significant medical benefits, but radiation exposure remains a concern. This study aims to analyze CT scans in Korea, as a basis study for radiation safety management. Materials and Methods: The raw data of total CT scans was obtained from the Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service and analyzed by CT scan type, patients' age and sex, and medical facility type. CT scans trends were analyzed considering the disease incidence. Results and Discussion: In 2017, CT scans accounted for 8,977,300. Usage per capita was 0.18 in males and 0.17 in females. CT scans increased with age until the 50- to 59-year-old groups, then decreased. CT scans were high in abdominal/pelvic (35%), chest (26%), and head (22%) regions due to higher disease rates. Head CT was most frequently used for infants and children. Abdominal/pelvic, chest, and spine CT were more frequent for older groups. The CT scans in the upper and lower extremities was high in child and juvenile groups. Chest and abdominal/pelvic CTs were higher in males, whereas spine, whole spine, and CT densitometry were higher in females. The proportion of CT scans of tertiary and general hospitals, hospitals, and clinics accounted for ≥80%, 13%, and 5%, respectively. Abdomen/pelvis, chest, and head/neck CTs were mostly conducted in tertiary and general hospitals, spine CT in hospitals and clinics, extremity CT in hospitals, and CT densitometry in clinics. Conclusion: The trend of CT scans varied based on the incidence rate for each patient's sex and age, and serious illness diagnosis by medical facility type. The results of this study provide data and guidance for evaluating the radiation exposure of the Korean population by CT and developing management policies for medical radiation safety.

  • Purpose: Trauma patients are at an elevated risk of developing venous thromboembolism (VTE), with the subsequent mortality in patients requiring intensive care unit admission ranging from 25% to 38%. There remains significant variability in clinical practice related to VTE prophylaxis in trauma patients due to the frequent presence of contraindications impacting the timing and consistency of application. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of the current practice of chemical VTE prophylaxis in trauma patients at a single Australian center. Methods: A prospective review was conducted on patients admitted to the ACT Trauma Service (Canberra, Australia) from July to November 2022. The included patients were 18 years or older, without a direct contraindication to anticoagulation, who received chemical VTE prophylaxis with low-molecular-weight heparin (enoxaparin) for at least three doses and underwent subsequent testing of anti-factor Xa (aFXa) levels. Results: During the study period, 187 patients were admitted, of whom 63 were included in the study. Of these, 47 patients achieved therapeutic levels of anticoagulation as determined by their aFXa levels, while 16 were subtherapeutic. The only statistically significant difference between the two groups was in weight, with patients in the subtherapeutic group weighing an average of 91.9 kg compared to 79.1 kg in the therapeutic group (P<0.05). Conclusions: A fixed-dose enoxaparin regimen was utilized, with limited individualization based on patient factors, such as injuries, comorbidities, and other biological factors. Sixteen patients (25%) had subtherapeutic VTE prophylaxis, as measured by aFXa levels. Higher weight was significantly correlated with inadequate VTE prophylaxis dosing. While age, sex, and smoking status might play important roles in clinical decision-making, weight-based dosing of low-molecular-weight heparin may be more effective in achieving adequate VTE prophylaxis.

  • This study investigates the antecedents and mechanisms influencing trust and behavioral intentions formation towards new AI chatbots, such as ChatGPT, as travel information searching services. Analyzing the roles of variables such as familiarity, novelty, personal innovativeness, information quality and perceived anthropomorphism, the research elucidates the impact of these factors on users' cognitive and affective trust, ultimately affecting their intention to adopt information and sustain the use of the AI chatbot. Results indicate that perceived familiarity and information quality positively influence both cognitive and affective trust, whereas perceived novelty contributes positively only to cognitive trust. Additionally, the personal innovativeness of new AI chatbot users was found to weaken the effect of familiarity on perceived trust, while the perceived level of anthropomorphism of the chatbot amplified the effects of novelty and familiarity on cognitive trust. These findings underscore the importance of considering factors such as familiarity, personal innovativeness, information quality and anthropomorphism in the design and implementation of AI chatbots, affecting trust and behavioral intention.

  • Recently, various contents set in the Josun Dynasty have emerged. However, there is a growing number of hanboks that do not preserve the basic original form of hanbok, such as hanboks that deviate significantly from the form of hanboks. Therefore, in this study, a system was created and implemented in the game to express various colors and patterns of hanbok using the DALL-E API in this game by examining the basic hanbok form of hanbok through literature review. However, despite the fact that the results are inconsistent depending on the quality of the Generative AI service and the limitations of not passing through the historical evidence of traditional hanbok experts, it is meaningful to present a system that uses the creativity of users to create a design that can enhance the aesthetics of traditional hanbok. In future research, we want to investigate users' preferences and develop a system that can create an image that fits them when clicking the interface.

  • Online and mobile reviews strongly influence consumer behavior, especially in the service industry, and play a key role in determining customer retention and revisit rates. Systematically analyzing the information in these reviews can effectively assess how they directly influence customers' purchase decisions. In this study, we applied the existing KNU sentiment dictionary to food and beverage (F&B) review data to build a customized sentiment lexicon using N-grams based on about 10,000 reviews. Comparing its performance with the existing dictionary, we found that the sentiment lexicon generated using the 1-gram, 2-gram, and 3-gram models had the highest accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 scores. These results can serve as a powerful business support tool for SMEs in the F&B and grocery shopping sector, also be used to predict customer demand for technology and policy.

  • Background: Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) and chronic otitis media (COM) share pathophysiological mechanisms such as bacterial infection, biofilm, and persistence of the obstruction state of ventilation routes. However, only a few studies have investigated the relationship between these two diseases nationwide and in the general population. The purpose of this study was to determine whether the incidence of COM in patients with CRS differed from that of a matched control from the national health screening cohort. Methods: Data from the Korean Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service-National Patient Samples were collected from 2002 to 2015. Participants who were treated ≥2 times and underwent head and neck computed tomography evaluation were selected. A 1:4 matched CRS group (n=8,057) and a control group (n=32,228) were selected. The control group included participants who were never treated with the ICD-10 code J32 from 2002 to 2015. The CRS group included CRS patients with/without nasal polyps. Results: The incidence of COM was significantly higher in the CRS group than in the control group. In a subgroup analysis, the incidence of COM in all age groups and in men and women was significantly higher in the CRS group than in the control group. More, CRS increased the risk of COM. Conclusions: A significant association was observed between CRS and COM. This indicates that CRS patients have a high risk of developing COM.

  • This study analyzes the determinants of greenhouse gas emissions using data from 16 metropolitan municipalities in South Korea. The STIRPAT model, which probabilistically models environmental impacts, was employed for the analysis. Both homogeneous and heterogeneous panel analyses were utilized. Recognizing that results from homogeneous panel analysis could be distorted due to the characteristics of panel data, cross-sectional dependence and slope homogeneity tests were conducted. The tests indicated that it is appropriate to use estimates that consider cross-sectional dependence and reflect slope heterogeneity. Therefore, the results from heterogeneous panel analysis were presented as the main findings. The analysis identified income (per capita GRDP) and energy efficiency (energy intensity) as key determinants of greenhouse gas emissions. Conversely, population was found not to be a key factor, and the industrial structure of the regions (share of the service industry in value-added) was also identified as a potential determinant of greenhouse gas emissions. The hypothesis of the Environmental Kuznets Curve was not statistically significant, suggesting that improving energy efficiency, rather than income growth and economic development, would be the most effective policy tool for reducing greenhouse gases in each municipality.
