  • Purpose - The objective of this research is to a) examine the effects of online reviews, posted on online distribution channels, on the change of consumers' attitudes and booking intention by distinguishing three types of online review valence: positive, negative and neutral review valence, and b) to investigate the combined effect of the inclination of online review and perceived usefulness of reviews on consumers' attitude change. Research design, data, and methodology - An experimental design was used by creating a mimicked hotel company's website and online reviews extracted from several online distribution channels such as online travel agencies (OTAs). A total of 414 respondents were randomly assigned to a type of review valence. Results - The results showed that the valence of positive reviews has a significant effect on the positive change of attitude and booking intention. However, the effect of the valence of negative reviews on the change of booking intention was not statistically significant compared to that of the valence of neutral reviews. Conclusions - The results offer some insights into the effect of online reviews on consumers' decision making processes and have important managerial implications for companies that operate online distribution channels in terms of their online marketing and the distribution of service products.

  • The Korean Peninsula has the gateway role of Far East Asia in economic aspect, because it is the channel to global world that Korea and Japan should take in the future. Till now, there was no real economic cooperation in service industry for two Koreas. Nevertheless, it is high time that two Koreas have to play a gateway role in order to pave the way to come true their global vision. This paper aims to examine the possibility of economic cooperation between two Koreas in service sector and explore the vision and strategy which are useful for the ways toward peaceful unification on the Korean Peninsula and two Koreas' future survival in the midst of global competition. Economic cooperation in service sector, such as transport, tourism, educational services, etc. between two Koreas means establishing and strengthening the infrastructure of their unification. If there were no cooperation of service sector on the Korean Peninsula, we also could not expect the outcome of economic cooperation and the vision of Korea's unification. To sum up, the strategy recommended for the Korean Peninsula's global vision is that two Koreas should simultaneously open the window of economic cooperation in service sector and link the interface between the Eurasian continent and the Korean Peninsula.

  • Trade in service, which deals with intangible product, is distinguished from trade of goods for tangible product. The current multilateral service trade is based on GATS which includes MFN, securing the predictability as well as transparency of related service rules, specific commitment basis market access national treatment. Recently the WTO service disputes are increasing according to the frequent filing complaints against the regulation of service trade in China. The rules of GATS are not as strict as those of GATT. The commitment schedules, which were materialized between members, gets binding effect through the obligatory provisions of GATS. The GATS is inseparable relation with the Appendix of finance, of telecommunication, and of air transport, with the schedules of commitment of member states, and with the reference paper to the 4th protocol. GATS article XIV which is the general exception of GATS has a similar structure of GATT article XX. Based on the possibility of filing to the WTO, there is a need to examine whether the whole rules, regulation, and policy international trade in service of Korea perfectly macthed with the GATS. Korea with poor resources should take up the more positive attitude for the opening of international service market. According to the reciprocal aspects of concession, if Korea doesn't open a service market, the other WTO member country wouldn't allow Korea to access the their market as well as national treatment.

  • In this study, we discuss the possibility of applying the group technology to the service area. We analyze student service system to improve college student service and constructed new service cells using the group technology. To do so, we build service cells for the information technology support and related business in college student service with the standard of service cell formation process. This naturally leads us to the way to improve or to solve those problems such as waiting time and complexity of the related department to provide service to the student. The application of the group technology means the increase of the investment in the view point of the owner. However, to stand against the infinite competition and the open of the education market, university have to prepare. This preparation can be helped by applying the group technology for improving the college student service quality.

  • To evaluate customer satisfaction of hotel food and beverage products, developing items for the measurement is necessary through studying the properties of food and beverage products. The properties consist of human service, physical and systematic service. Human service includes appearance and uniforms, courtesy and kindness, quickness and precision of the service, well-educatedness, moral sense and etc. Physical service includes the taste of food and beverage, diversity of food and beverage, outlets' cleanness and atmosphere, refinement of fixture, furnishing and table ware, the admission passage to the hotel and parking lot facilities, and etc. Systematic service includes passages of movement to outlet, arrangement of outlet, reservation management system, operation of events and package goods, temperature and ventilation system and etc. The price is also one of important variables to measure customer satisfaction index, so it is included to the investigating items. As shown some hotels have several satisfactory items but most items are unsatisfactory because expected service is better than perceived service. Therefore, the hotels which lack human service need the reinforcement of service education, the hotels which lack physical and systematic services need the improvement, the development and the renovation according to the unsatisfactory items. And the hotels whose price item is unsatisfactory need to consider the policy.

  • The information service management models developed thus far have put their focuses mostly on technical dimensions of information systems (IS), finding their rationale from the goods-dominant logic (GDL) that IS as goods has value in itself. Information systems, however, is nothing more than a mechanism by which value is delivered to the users. According to the service-dominant logic (SDL), value is created and determined not at the time serve is made by the providers but at the time it is consumed by the users. The users therefore should be regarded as active value creators not as passive consumers of the value delivered by the providers. Based on the service-dominant logic, DISQM (Dynamic Information Service Quality Model) is developed. DISQM's backbone is designed in causal loop diagrams referring to and reinterpreting in systems thinking the 'Parasuraman, Zeithaml & Berry's GAP Model' and 'SERVQUAL' as an operational tool for the GAP Model, and the main IS success constructs are mapped onto the model exploiting the 'DeLone & MacLean's IS Success Model'. With VENSIM simulation software, this paper also shows how DISQM works in computer-simulation settings. After confirming DISQM's validity with the base simulation run, two scenarios are developed for the exemplary purpose and tested in terms of IS quality, service quality, and net benefits from the service for the public information service. Implications from the simulation runs are also discussed.

  • As unemployment rates and concerns about turnover keep growing, the need for information is also increasing. In these situations, the job reviews which share information about the company catch people's attention because they are usually created by people who worked at the company. The development of SNS and mobile environments has led to an increase in the web services that provide job reviews. For example, Jobplanet is a job review service in Korea, and Glassdoor.com offers a similar service in the US. Despite this attention, however, research utilizing job reviews is insufficient. This paper asks whether there are differences in ratios of job satisfaction factors by industry, using LDA topic modeling and co-occurrence analysis to explore the differences. Through the results of LDA, we find that the ratios of job satisfaction factors are similar by industry. At the same time, the results of co-occurrence analysis show that the co-occurrence frequency of some job satisfaction factors appears high: pay and welfare, balance of work and life, company culture. We expect that the result of this research will be helpful in comparative analysis of job satisfaction factors by industry. Furthermore, in this paper we suggest how to use the job review data in organizational behavior research.
