  • We studied customer recognition and understanding of menu labeling as well as the correlations between customer support for menu labeling and multiple factors, such as demographic characteristics, dinning-out behavior, and menu selection criteria. This study designed a survey and received responses from 351 individuals. The analysis results reveal that most respondents did not acknowledge menu labeling or lacked knowledge of it. Many of the respondents showed experience in ordering from menus with ingredient labels, but many showed no interest in menu labeling. Exactly 114 (32.5%) respondents showed support of menu labeling, and most were interested in levels of trans-fat, fat, and cholesterol. The respondents reported that menu labeling should be implemented more in fast-food restaurants and causal dinning restaurants. This study also analyzed how customer menu selection criteria are related to support level of menu labeling. Respondents were classified into three groups based on their support level for menu labeling (low medium high), after which correlations between customer menu selection criteria and support level were examined. Respondents in the high support group considered all menu selection criteria (i.e., ingredients, health, and consideration of calories). GLM analysis showed that monthly dining-out expenses were highly related to support level with a significance level of 0.05, and the interaction between monthly dining-out expenses and respondents' jobs also affected support level with a significance level of 0.01.

  • Database integration has been recognized as a critical issue for effective logistics service in logistics environment. However, research related to effective methodology for this have been little studied, and also, prominent achievements have yet to be suggested. The aim of this paper is to present a quantitative methodology for the identification of conflict that is a representative problem on database integration. To achieve this aim, we suggested a quantitative methodology that can efficiently fine troubles such as name conflicts when schema integration, based on the level of semantic similarity between attributes and entities. And, in order to measure these semantic similarities, we used a thesaurus dictionary that proposed previous research. Finally, we presented effectiveness of the proposed methodology through some typical examples.

  • Database Integration problems has been recognized as a critical issue for effective logistics service in logistics environment. However, researches related to effective methodology for this have been studied theoretically in the DB schema integration, are insufficient in the side of the system realization. The aim of this paper is to present a schema integration technique to integrate DB using XML(eXtensible Markup Language) in the part of practical DB integration, a quantitative methodology for the identification of conflict that is a representative problem on database integration. To achieve this aim, we extracted the entity name and attribute name from DB schema and suggested a quantitative methodology to easily fine name conflict that frequently give raise to a trouble when schema integration, based on the level of semantic similarity between attributes and entities.

  • LBS(Location Based Services) provide the location-based information to its mobile users. The primary functionality of these services is to provide useful information to its users at a minimum cost of resources. The functionality can be implemented through data mining techniques. However, conventional data mining researches have not been considered spatial and temporal aspects of data simultaneously. Therefore, these techniques are inappropriate to apply on the objects of LBS, which change spatial attributes over time. In this paper, we propose a new data mining technique for identifying the temporal patterns from the series of the locations of moving objects that have both temporal and spatial dimension. We use a spatial operation of contains to generalize the location of moving point and apply time constraints between the locations of a moving object to make a valid moving sequence. Finally, the spatio-temporal technique proposed in this paper is very practical approach in not only providing more useful knowledge to LBS, but also improving the quality of the services.

  • In this paper, we present integrated model of postal business that would be newly organized. The integrated model is developed through four phase. First, postal business is analyzed by three parts;collection, transportation and delivery. Second, the modeling criteria are developed that will be used for designing integrated postal business model. Third, object-oriented concepts are used by the steps of postal business modeling criteria captured. Finally, methods applied to developed model are grouped according to their function. Also, active-based mechanisms such as trigger and constraints are developed, and knowledge-based mechanisms such as inference are developed. These selected methods and attributes are encapsulated into objects. These constitute an object-active-knowledge based database model. Finally, Operational Scenario and Service Scenario are composed for real application according to proposed O-A-K model.

  • The purpose of study was to ascertain whether Facebook users present themselves positively on Facebook. Also this study examined whether factors of self-efficacy, narcissism, and public/private self-consciousness affected positive self-presentation. The subjects for the study included 197 users who have been using Facebook. The analysis of behavioral attributes such as self-display, competency display, exemplary behavior display, etc, did not yield statistically high values to support users' positive self-presentation on Facebook. The results showed that self-efficacy, narcissism, and public self-consciousness have statistically significant influence on positive self-presentation. The study found that private self-consciousness did not have statistically significant influence on positive self-representation.

  • Currently, many people have been researching diverse mechansmims related to a resource access control in Grid environment. Mostly Grid user's resource access control was designed to authorize according to their attributes and roles. But, to provide Grid with resources continuously, a resource access based on utility computing must be controlled. So, in this paper we propose and implement mechanism that intergrates Grid accounting concept with resource access control. This mechanism calcuates costs of Grid service on the basis of accounting, and determines based on user's fund availibility whether they continue to make use of site resources or not. Grid jobs will be controlled according to a site resource access control policy only if the amount of available fund is less than its costs. If Grid job completed, resource consumer pays for the costs generated by using provider's idle resources. Therefore, this paper provides mechansim to be able to control user's resource access by Grid accounting, so that it is evaluated as the research to realize utility computing environment corresponding to economic principle.

  • The purposes of this study were to: (a) identify college students' patronage behaviors, (b) develop an instrument measuring the attitudes of University Students towards university foodservices management practices, (c) determine university students' attitude towards the four types of university foodservices, and (d) provide recommendations on marketing strategies for university foodservice. Questionnaires were hand delivered to 600 Yonsei University students by designated coordinators. A total of 549 questionnaires were usable; resulting in an 93.3% response rate. The survey was conducted between November 28 to December 4, 1995. Statistical data analysis was completed using the SAS Programs for descriptive analysis, T-test, ${\chi}^2$ test, ANOVA, Factor Analysis and Stepwise Multiple Regression. Most (88.3%) of students were patronizing university foodservices for lunch. Underground student foodservice (40.1%) and Restaurants outside the campus (33.7%) were primarily used for lunch and dinner respectively. Eighty six percent of university students had 1 to 2 meals per day at university foodservices. The reasons given by students for patronizing university foodservices were as follows: location, time, price, menu, taste. Most of the respondents were least satisfied with hygiene, taste, menu and atmosphere. Data indicated strong support for eight priori dimensions in terms of food, menu, atmosphere, hygiene, employee attitude, facilities and convenience. After the factor analysis, price, fast service and foodservice location attributes were rearranged, combined and created a new dimension called as 'access'. Three dimensions in terms of menu, hygiene, convenience were important to students although performance was perceived as poor through importance-performance analysis. Most of students were not satisfied with all four types of university foodservices. In terms of food quality and price which university foodservices offer, most of respondents were moderately satisfied. According to multiple regression analysis, 93.31% of the variance respondents' satisfaction score could be explained by food, menu, price, atmosphere, hygiene, employee attitude, facilities, and convenience dimensions.

  • Many companies have recently apply SLA and execute IT service by using SLA. However, there are no objective standards for selection and improvement of SLA evaluation metrics. We derive and present measurement attributes that are criteria for selection and improvement of SLA evaluation metrics as measurement metrics. We execute a case study based on D company in order to verify whether the measurement metrics are applicable. We apply and evaluate the measurement metrics that are applicable to D company, and then we designate an improvement line. We propose improvement guidelines of the measurement metrics which score is less than the improvement line's and derive SLA evaluation metrics. We prove that the way of selection and improvement is useful by applying SLA evaluation metrics to D company.
