간경변 및 간암과 혈청 구리와 아연농도와의 관련성 (Association of Serum Copper and Zinc Levels with Liver Cirrhosis and Hepatocellular Carcinoma)

  • 현재까지도 완전히 규명되지 못한 간질환과 혈청 구리 및 아연농도와의 관련성을 밝히고, 이들의 진단적 가치를 알아보고자 1990년 10월에서 1991년 8월 사이에 대구시 소재 모 대학병원 내과와 건강진단센터에 내원한 사람들 중에서 무작위로 선정한 정상 63명, 간경변 60명 그리고 간암 33명을 대상으로 일반적 특성을 조사하였고, 체내 일일 변동을 고려하여 공복시 오전 9시에서 11시 사이에 혈액을 채취하여 간기능검사의 생화학적 표지자와 혈청 구리 및 아연농도의 분석에 사용하였다. 혈청 구리의 평균농도는 대조군 $91.97{\pm}4.76{\mu}g/dl$, 간경화군 $106.21{\pm}2.73{\mu}g/dl$ 그리고 간암군 $127.05{\pm}0.77{\mu}g/dl$이었고, 대조군과 간경화군 사이에 통계적으로 유의한 차이는 없었으나, 간경화군과 간암군사이에는 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 보였다(p<0.05). 아연에 있어서는 대조군 $110.82{\pm}7.24{\mu}g/dl$,간경화군 $68.10{\pm}5.43{\mu}g/dl$ 그리고 간암군 $63.78{\pm}2.20{\mu}g/dl$로 나타났고, 간경화군과 간암군 사이에 통계적으로 유의한 차이는 없었으나, 대조군과는 두 군 모두 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 보였다(P<0.05). Cu/Zn비는 세 군 사이에 모두 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 있었다(p<0.05). 간기능검사의 생화학적 표지자들 중에 총 단백, 알부민, ALP 그리고 총 빌리루빈은 세 군 간에 모두 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 있었으나(p<0.05), ALT와 AST의 간경화군과 간암군 간의 차이는 통계적으로 유의하지 않았고, 직접 빌리루빈은 대조군에 대해 간암군에서 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 없었다. 헐청 구리와 아연농도 그리고 Cu/Zn비와 통계적으로 유의한 상관관계를 보인 표지자는 세 군에서 다양하게 나타났다. 다중 로지스틱 회귀분석에서 간경화 및 간암에 대한 odds ratio는 혈청 아연농도만이 각각 0.951, 0.952로 통계적으로 유의하였고(p<0.05), 혈 청 구리 농도와 Cu/Zn비는 통계적인 유의성이 없었다. 세 군에 대한 판별분석에서 구분을 위한 주요변수로 선정된 것은 알부민, ALP, 혈청 아연농도, 나이 그리고 총 빌리루빈이었고, 이를 적용하여 판별한 결과 바른구분의 백분율은 대조군 95.4%, 간경변군 73.4%, 간암군 75.7%로 총 84.0% 였다. 본 연구는 아연이 간질환에 대해 독립적으로도 억제하는 효과가 있을 것이며, 혈청 아연농도의 측정은 간질환의 진단에 유용하게 이용될 수 있을 것임을 시사하고 있다고 생각된다.

양릉천(陽陵泉) 고주파(高周波) 전침자극(電鍼刺戟)이 $CCl_4$로 유발된 흰 쥐의 간손상(肝損傷)에 미치는 영향(影響) (A Study on the Effect of High Frequency Electroacupuncture at Yanglingquan(GB34) on $CCl_4$-intoxicated Rats)

  • Objective : The purpose of this study is to observe the effect of high frequency electro-acupuncture (hf-EA) at Yanglingquan(GB34) on $CCl_4$-induced liver damage in rats. Methods : The author performed several experimental items, including measurements of body weight and liver weight, hematological analysis for RBC, WBC, PLT, hemoglobin, lymphocytes, neutrophils, monocytes and biochemical assays for ALT, AST, ALP and total cholesterol in serum, and histological analysis of liver tissue. Results & Conclusion : 1. WBC level in blood was slightly reduced by acupuncture and hf-EA at GB34. 2. Lymphocyte level in blood was decreased by $CCl_4$-intoxication and significantly increased by acupuncture and hf-EA at GB34. 3. Neutrophils level in blood was slightly reduced by acupuncture and hf-EA at GB34. 4. ALT and AST in serum were reduced significantly by acupuncture and hf-EA at GB34. 5. The pathological changes of liver tissue induced by $CCl_4$ was reduced by hf-EA at GB34. 6. No significant difference was found between the effects of acupuncture and hf-EA on CCl4-induced liver damage in rats.

울산지역 노인의 아연 영양상태 및 아연 보충의 효과 (The Zinc Nutriture and Effect of Zinc Supplementation on the Elderly Living in Ulsan)

  • This study was intended to examine the zinc status and effect of zinc supplementation on the zinc nutritional status of the elderly living in the Ulsan area. The zinc intake of 207 subjects(male 97, female 110) was measured by a 24-hour dietary recall and food frequency method. Biochemical analysis were conducted from blood and urine samples to evaluate the changes of zinc nutriture with zinc supplementation. The average dietary zinc intake of subjects was $7.7\pm{2.8mg}$ for male and $7.5\pm{2.6mg}$ for female, which were 51.3% and 62.3% of Korean RDA respectively. The first source of zinc was cereal and grain(36%), and the second was eggs and milk group(27%). After 8 weeks of zinc supplementation, the serum zinc content was significantly increased(p<0.01), although the serum copper content was not significantly decrease. Serum HDL- cholesterol level was not significantly decreased with zinc supplementation. Serum alkaline phosphatase(ALP) activity and urinary zinc excretion were significantly increased(p<0.05). The urinary Zn/Cr was not significantly increased. It is suggested from the results that the daily zinc supplementation can be effective to improve zinc nutriture.

  • Objectives : Laser therapy started in 1958 when Schawlow and Townes suggested medical value of Laser therapy. He-Ne laser has been utilized as a clinical treatment for various diseases by Plog since 1975. Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) has been used as medication for controlling obesity in the Korean Medicine. So this study is planned to investigate the effects of LLLT on the level of serum lipid and weight gain Methods : Experimental groups were divided into normal group(Normal), high fat diet group(Control), high fat diet and LLLT by helium-neon (He-Ne) on the tail is carried out once a 2 day during 5 weeks. The animals were divided into six groups: no ischemia-induced and no LLLT-treated group (Normal), the ischemia-induced and no LLLT-treated group (Control), the ischemia-induced and 5 mW 5 min LLLT-treated group (LLLT5-5), the ischemia-induced and 30 mW 5 min LLLT-treated group (LLLT30-5), the ischemia-induced and 5 mW 10 min LLLT-treated group (LLLT5-10), 30 mW 10 min LLLT-treated group (LLLT30-10). The effect of LLLT is observed by weight gain, food intake, food efficiency, serum of lipid concentrations, liver function and HDL to total cholesterol ratio of rats fed high fat diet for 5weeks. Results : Body weight and food intake were decreased in LLL5-5, LLLT30-5, LLLT30-10. Food efficiency was decreased in LLLT30-10. The level of serum Triglyceride, Free fatty acid, AST, ALT, ALP were decreased in LLLT30-10. Serum HDL-cholesterol was increase in LLLT5-10, LLLT30-10. Also serum ALT was decrease in LLLT5-5 Conclusions : LLLT(30 mW-10 min) is effective on Body weight, food efficiency ratio, the level of serum lipid and protection of liver function by obesity induced by high fat diet, and LLLT(5 mW-5 min) act on decrease of Body weight, food intake and ALT.

  • Objectives : This research was performed to investigate the effect of herbal acupuncture (Atratylodes japonica Koizumi and Coix lachrymajobi var. mayeun Stapf) at Pungnyung(ST40) and Umnungchon(SP9) on weight gain, food intake, food efficiency, serum of lipid concentrations, liver function and HDL to total cholesterol ratio of rats fed high fat diet for 5weeks. Methods : Experimental groups were divided into normal group(Sham), high fat diet group(Control), high fat diet and Atractylodes japonica-herbal acupuncture in ST40 SP9 treated group (AJ), high fat diet and Coix lachrymajobi var. mayeun Stapf-herbal acupuncture in ST40 SP9 treated group(CL), high fat diet and Atractylodes japonica+Coix lachrymajobi var. mayeun Stapf-herbal acupuncture in ST40 SP9 treated group(AJ+CL). Herbal acupuncture was bilaterally treated at the level of 132.5mg/kg body weight per day. Results : Body weight and food efficiency were decreased in AJ, AJ+CL. Feed intake was decreased in AJ, CL. The level of serum HDL-cholesterol was increased in AJ, CL. The level of serum total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol and phospholipid were not significant. The level of serum triglyceride, free fatty acid were increased in AJ. The level of serum AST was decreased in AJ, AJ+CL. The level of serum ALT was decreased in AJ, CL, AJ+CL. The level of serum ALP was decreased in AJ+CL. The HDL to Total cholesterol ratio was increased in AJ. Conclusions : Atractylodes japonica-herbal acupuncture in ST40 SP9 can control the body weight, feed intake and feed efficiency ratio, HDL-cholesterol and herbal acupuncture combined Atractylodes japonica with Coix lachrymajobi var. mayeun Stapf is effective on Body weight, feed intake, feed efficiency ratio, protection of liver function and prevention cardiovascular risk by obesity.

소아 비만에서 Leptin과 골대사의 연관성 (Relationships of Serum Leptin Levels with Bone Metabolism in the Childhood Obesity)

  • 목 적: 체중과 지방량이 골밀도와 밀접한 연관이 있는 것으로 알려져 왔다. 비만아에서는 지방 조직에서 합성 분비되는 leptin이 증가되는데, 증가된 leptin이 비만아의 골 대사에 미치는 영향에 대해 알아보고자 연구를 하였다. 방 법: 2005년 11월부터 2006년 5월까지 조선대학교병원 외래를 방문한 50명의 남자(비만아 25명, 정상 체중의 대조군 25명)를 대상으로 하였다. 체질량 지수, 체지방률, 삼두박근 피부주름 두께와 견갑골하 피부주름 두께를 측정하고 혈청 leptin과 골대사 지표인 B-ALP, CICP 및 total DPD 농도를 검사하였다. 비만군과 대조군의 신체 계측, leptin 및 골대사 지표 농도를 비교하고, leptin과 골대사 지표와의 상관성을 알아보았다. 결 과: 비만군에서 체질량 지수(r=0.551, p<0.05), 체지방률(r=0.584, p<0.05)과 유의한 양의 상관관계가 있었다. Leptin은 골형성 지표인 B-ALP (r=-0.613, p=0.026) 및 CICP (r=-0.583, p=0.037)와 유의한 음의 상관성을 보였다. 그러나 골흡수 지표인 total DPD (r=0.103)와는 유의한 상관성이 없었다. 대조군에서 leptin과 유의한 상관성이 있는 인자는 없었다. 골대사에 영향을 주는 체중을 통제하고 상관성을 알아본 결과에서도 비만군에서 leptin은 B-ALP (r=-0.728, p=0.007) 및 CICP (r=-0.684, p=0.014)와 유의한 음의 상관성을 보였으나 total DPD와는 연관성이 없었다. 대조군에서는 leptin과 연관성 있는 골대사 지표는 없었다. 비만군에서 골대사 지표에 영향을 미치는 인자에 대해 다중 단계별 회귀 분석을 시행한 결과 종속변수인 B-ALP는 leptin과 유의한 음의 상관성을 보였으며(Y=-39.653X+356.341, p=0.026), CICP도 leptin과 유의한 음의 상관성을 보였다(Y=-13.437X+116.013, p=0.037). 결 론: 비만아에서 leptin은 골형성 지표인 B-ALP 및 CICP와 음의 상관성이 있었으며, 골 흡수가 아닌 골 형성을 저하시키는 것을 알 수 있었다.

Effect of Feeding Ammoniated Wheat Straw Treated with Hydrochloric Acid on Blood Biochemical Profile in Growing Male Buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) Calves

  • An experiment was conducted to study the effect of feeding ammoniated wheat straw treated with HCl on blood biochemical profiles in growing male buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) calves. Twenty-four growing male buffalo calves (one year of age, 88.54${\pm}$3.81 kg average body weight) were divided into three groups in a completely randomized design on the basis of their body weight. Animals in all the three groups were fed on concentrate mixture. In addition, they were offered wheat straw, ammoniated wheat straw (4% urea at 50% moisture level) and HCI treated ammoniated wheat straw (4% urea at 50% moisture level and HCl added to trap 30% of the NH3 evolved) in groups I, II and III, respectively for a period of 180 days, as per Kearl (1982) for body weight gain of 500 g/d. In all diets, concentrate:roughage ratio was fixed at 50:50 and were made isonitrogenous by adjusting CP levels of conc. mixtures. Blood was collected from jugular vein of each buffalo calf at the beginning and subsequently at two months interval of experimental feeding. Due to urea-ammoniation, the CP content of wheat straw increased from 2.90 to 6.96% and addition of HCl along with urea further increased the CP content to 10.09%. In all the three groups, the mean values of plasma glucose (mg %) and serum globulin (g %), showed a decreasing trend, while the mean value of serum TP (g %), serum A:G ratio, serum urea (mg %), serum creatinine (mg %), serum ALP (KA units), SGOT (units/ml.), SGPT (units/ml), serum T$_3$ and T$_4$ (ng/ml) showed an increasing trend with the advancement of feeding period. The cumulative period mean values of serum TP (6.15 to 6.20 g %), serum albumin (3.07 to 3.18, g %), serum globulin (2.98 to 3.09, g %), serum A:G ratio (1.03 to 1.10), serum ALP (23.15 to 23.63, KA units), serum T$_3$ (1.20 to 1.23 ng/ml) and serum T$_4$ (21.33 to 21.88 ng/ml) were comparable among the groups. The cumulative period mean plasma glucose (mg %) in group III (57.28) was similar to groups I (55.31) and II (59.41), however, the cumulative period mean plasma glucose in group II was significantly (p<0.01) higher than group I. The cumulative period mean serum urea (mg %) in group III (47.34) was significantly (p<0.001) higher than group I (38.38) and II (42.24), which were statistically alike. However, the cumulative period mean serum creatinine values (mg %) in groups II (1.43) and III (1.52) were similar and were significantly (p<0.01) higher than group I (1.24). The cumulative period mean SGOT (units/ml) in groups I, II and III was 91.71, 96.04 and 96.64, respectively. Similarly the cumulative period mean SGPT (units/ml) was 19.00, 19.93 and 20.01 in groups I, II and III, respectively. The cumulative period mean values of SGOT (p<0.05) and SGPT (p<0.001) in groups II and III were similar and were significantly higher than group I. The cumulative period mean serum T$_3$ and T$_4$ values in groups I (1.21 and 21.81), II (1.23 and 21.42) and III (1.20 and 21.33) were comparable. From the present study it may be concluded that feeding of AWS treated with and without HCI to growing male buffalo calves for 180 days had no significant adverse effect on blood biochemical profile.

음곡 애엽약침이 난소적출 흰쥐의 골다공증에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Herbal-acupuncture with $Artemisiae$ $Vulgaris$ $Folium$ Extract at $KI_{10}$($Eumgok$) on Osteoporosis in Ovariectomized Mice)

  • Objectives & Methods : The purpose of this study is to observe the effects of herbal-acupuncture with $Artemisiae$ $Vulgaris$ $Folium$ extract(AaH-HA) at $KI_{10}$($Eumgok$) on osteoporosis in ovariectomized(OVX) ddy mice. We carried out several experimental items to analyze the changes in body weight, urine, weight, uterus index, tibial length, the ash bone weight, tibial BMD, serum ALP, serum osteocalcin, serum Ca, and the levels of Ca, P, Ca/P ratio in tibia, and we performed histological and histomorphological analysis as well. Results : 1. Herbal-acupuncture with AaH-HA at $KI_{10}$ significantly inhibited the reduction phosphorus level in serum in ovariectomized mice. 2. Herbal-acupuncture with AaH-HA at $KI_{10}$ significantly inhibited the reduction creatinine level in serum in ovariectomized mice. 3. Herbal-acupuncture with AaH-HA at $KI_{10}$ significantly inhibited the increase of tibial osteoclast cells in ovariectomized mice. 4. Herbal-acupuncture with AaH-HA at $KI_{10}$ significantly inhibited the reduction of TBV(trabecular bone volume) and TBT(trabecular bone thickness) in ovariectomized mice. 5. Herbal-acupuncture with AaH-HA at $KI_{10}$ significantly inhibited the overgrowth of tibial growth plate length(GPL) in ovariectomized mice. Conclusions : In conclusion, our study suggested that Herbal-acupuncturing with AaH-HA at $KI_{10}$ can be effective treatment for osteoporosis.

인삼부산물 추출액의 ginsenosides 함량 및 고지방 식이에 있어 혈청 콜레스테롤 농도 개선에 미치는 효과 (Ginsenoside Contents and Hypocholesterolemic Effects of a By-Product in Ginseng Radix)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the application possibility of leaf and stem extract(LSE) extracted from mixture of leaf and stem of ginseng radix (Panax Ginseng C.A. Meyer). We conducted analysis of the ginsenoside content by HPLC. Also we investigate the effects of the LSE on the reduction of serum lipid and improvement of blood parameters in rats fed high fat diet 5 weeks. We examined by analyzing the serum total cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, triglyceride and atherogenic index and hematological datas and serum metabolic variables. Sprague-Dawley rat weigh $150\;g\;{\pm}\;15\;g$, were ramdomly assigned to 4 groups, basal diet only(BDG), high fat diet weithout LSE(FDCG), high fat diet and 10% LSE(FD10G), high fat diet and 20% LSE(FD20G). The result of this study were as follow. Hematological datas of 4 groups were same level, which were not significant. The activities of ALP, GOT and LDH level were significantly different. Total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, triglyceride contentrations in serum and atherogenic index were remarkably reduced in LSE supplemented groups as compared high fat control groups. These result imply that LSE could be used as possible for decrease of serum lipid concentration.

가미소요산(加味逍遙散)이 난소적출로 유발된 흰 쥐의 골다공증에 미치는 영향 (A Study on the Effects of Gamisoyosan on Ovariectomized Osteoporosis in Rats)

  • Purpose: Osteoporosis that occurred after menopause is one of the most common metabolic disease. and it is that bone mass significant decrease in comparison with normal people. Its symptoms are fracture, decrease of height, etc. The purpose of this study is to examine what are the effects of the Gamisoyosan on the aged ovariectomized rat model of postmenopausal osteoporosis. Methods: 24 female rats were ovariectomized and divided into normal group(normal), ovariectomized group(control), and treated with Gamisoyosan group(treated). During 8 weeks we dosed D.W to sham and control group, and dosed Gamisoyosan(105 mg/100 g) to experimental group. After 8 weeks we sacrificed rats and measured the body weight, albumin, P, Calcium, ALP, total cholesterol, triglyceride, AST, ALT, T4, estradiol, the femur weight, the tibia ash weight, trabecular bone area, trabecular thickness, osteoclast number. Results: The level of serum albumin, calcium, AST, ALT, estradiol in Gamisoyosan group showed significant increase in comparison with control group. The level of serum triglyceride in Gamisoyosan group showed significant decrease in comparison with control group. Trabecular bone area and osteoclast number in Gamisoyosan group showed significant increase in comparison with control group. Conclusions: Reviewing these experimental results, Gamisoyosan has shown to activate osteogenesis and prevent bone resorption, and it should show efficacy on prevention and improvement of osteoporosis after menopause.
