Emission of heavy metals as hazardous air pollutants has been focused with tightening regulatory limits due to their hazardousness. Measurements and characteristic investigations of heavy metals emitted from a commercial power plant burning anthracite coal have been carried out. The plant consists of a circulating fluidized bed combustor, a cyclone, a boiler and an electrostatic precipitator(ESP) in series. Dust and gaseous samples were collected to measure main heavy metals including gaseous mercury before ESP and at stack. Dust emissions as total particulate matter (TPM), PM-10 and PM-2.5 at inlet of ESP were very high with 23,274, 9,555 and $7,790mg/Sm^3$, respectively, as expected, which is much higher than those from pulverized coal power plants. However TPM at stack was less than $0.16mg/Sm^3$, due to high dust removal efficiency by ESP. Similarly heavy metals emission showed high collection efficiency across ESP. From particle size distribution and metal enrichment in sizes, several metal concentrations could be correlated with particle size showing more enrichment in smaller particles. Mercury unlike other solid metals behaved differently by emitting as gaseous state due to high volatility. Removal of mercury was quite less than other metals due to it's volatility, which was 68% only. Across ESP, speciation change of mercury from elemental to oxidized was clearly shown so that elemental mercury was half of total mercury at stack unlike other coal power plants which equipped wet a scrubber.
In this study, ultra high-voltage (170kV AC), reliable 80pF mica capacitors for partial discharge system application were investigated. For capacitors design, Program was developed to sampling of series and parallel parameters. Mica was used as the dielectric of the capacitors. Using the conservative design rule, over 3 individual 50$\mu$m thick mica sheets with a size of 30mm$\times$35mm were used with lead foils to form a parallel capacitor element and 20 mica sheets were interleaved with lead foils to form a series stack of parallel capacitor element to meet the requirements of the capacitors. The dimension of the fabricated 80pF capacitor for 17kV AC were 90mm$\times$90mm. The high-frequency characteristics of the capacitance (C) and dissipation factor (D) of the developed capacitors were measured using a capacitance meter. The developed capacitor exhibited C of 79.5pF, had D of 0.001% over the frequency ranges of 150kHz to 50MHz, had a self-resonant frequency of 65MHz.

This paper proposes a PCB plane model for generic SPICE circuit simulators. The proposed model reflects two frequency-dependent losses, namely skin and dielectric losses. After power/ground plane pair is divided into arrays of unit-cells, each unit-cell is modeled using a transmission line and two loss models. The loss model is composed of a resistor for DC loss, series HL ladder circuit for skin loss and series RC ladder circuit for dielectric loss. To verify the validity of the proposed model, it is compared with SPICE ac analysis using frequency-dependent resistors. Also, we show that the estimation results using the proposed model have a good correlation with that of VNA measurement for the typical PCB stack-up structure of general desktop PCs. With the proposed model, not only ac analysis but also transient analysis can be easily done for circuits including various non-linear/linear devices since the model consists of passive elements onl.
Background: Airborne radioactive particulate in many important nuclear facilities (particularly nuclear power plants) will have a strong impact on the relative public dose if they are released into the corresponding environment traversing the stack or vents. The radiation protection researchers have regarded the relative environment assessing and estimation of public doses. And the model of assessing impact of discharges radioactive substance to the environment have been recommended by many international organizations (e.g. IAEA) with the nuclear energy safety and radiation protection. Materials and Methods: This paper introduced the generic models that were suggested by International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), for use in assessing the impact of discharges of radioactive substances to the environment (e.g. IAEA Safety Report Series No.19). Results and Discussion: The writers of this paper, based on the recommend methods, assessed the discharge limits in some airborne radioactive substances discharging standards. The reasons that IAEA method are introduced are mainly the following considerations: IAEA is one of international organizations with some authorities in the nuclear energy safety and radiation protection; and, more important, the recommend modes are operational methods rather than the methods having little operations such as that have used by some researchers. Conclusion: It is wish that the introduced methods in this paper can be referenced in draft or revise of the standards related to discharges of radioactive substances to the environment.
This paper presents a two stage L-band power amplifier realized with a $0.32{\mu}m$ Silicon-On-Insulator (SOI) CMOS technology. To overcome a low breakdown voltage limit of MOSFET, stacked-FET structures are employed, where three transistors in the first stage amplifier and four transistors in the second stage amplifier are connected in series so that their output voltage swings are added in phase. The stacked-FET structures enable the proposed amplifier to achieve a 21.5 dB small-signal gain and 15.7 dBm output 1-dB compression power at 1.9 GHz with a 122 mA DC current from a 4 V supply. The amplifier delivers a 19.7 dBm. This paper presents a two stage L-band power amplifier realized with a $0.32{\mu}m$ Silicon-On-Insulator (SOI) CMOS technology. Permanent Scatterer InSAR (PSInSAR) technique extracts permanent scatterers exhibiting high phase stability over the entire observation period and calculates precise time-series deformation at Permanent Scatterer (PS) points by using single master interferograms. This technique is not a good method to apply on nature environment such as forest area where permanent scatterers cannot be identified. Another muti-temporal Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR), Small BAseline Subset (SBAS) technique using multi master interferograms with short baselines, can be effective to detect deformation in forest area. However, because of the error induced from phase unwrapping, the technique sometimes fails to estimate correct deformation from a stack of interferograms. To overcome those problems, we introduced new multi-temporal InSAR technique, called Temporarily Coherence Point InSAR (TCPInSAR), in this paper. This technique utilizes multi master interferograms with short baseline and without phase unwrapping. To compare with traditional multi-temporal InSAR techniques, we retrieved spatially changing deformation because PSs have been found enough in forest area with TCPInSAR technique and time-series deformation without phase unwrapping error. For this study, we acquired ERS-1 and ERS-2 SAR dataset on Augustine volcano, Alaska and detected deformation in study area for the period 1992-2005 with SBAS and TCPInSAR techniques.

In order to render 3D model of the bone, the stack of cross-sectional images must be reconstructed from a series of X-ray radiographs, served as the projections. In the case where the distance between x-ray source and detector is not infinite, image reconstruction from projection based on parallel-beam geometry provides an error in the cross-sectional image. In such case, image reconstruction from projection based on conebeam geometry must be exercised instead. This paper is devoted to the determination of detector center for SART conebeam Technique which is critically effect the performance of the resulting 3D modeling.

This paper investigates the tolerance stack-up in a commercial sliding-type mobile phone model developed by a Korean electronics company, with focus on the dimensional quality of the gap between the sliding top and the main body. The tolerance analysis in this study is done using a commercial software package, which runs Monte Carlo simulations to produce the statistical distributions of the gap size at desired locations. Such an analysis revealed that the original design did not yield the desired dimensional quality of the gap. Through a series of systematic analyses and syntheses, an improved design is proposed for the nominal dimensions and tolerances of selected features of the parts. The proposed design was validated, through tolerance analysis simulation, to meet the desired requirement of the gap quality.
This paper addresses a new type of broad and stage-based hybrid carbon fiber reinforced polymer (HCFRP) sensor that is suitable for the sensing of infrastructures. The HCFRP sensors, a type of composite sensor, are fabricated with three types of carbon tows of different strength and moduli. For all of the specimens, the active materials are carbon tows by virtue of their electrical conductivity and piezoresistivity. The measurement principles are based on the micro- and macro-fractures of different types of carbon tows. A series of experiments are carried out to investigate the sensing performances of the HCFRP sensors. The main variables include the stack order and volume fractions of different types of carbon tows. It is shown that the change in electrical resistance is in direct proportion to the strain/load in low strain ranges. However, the fractional change in electrical resistance (${\Delta}R/R_0$) is smaller than 2% prior to the macrofractures of carbon tows. In order to improve the resistance changes, measures are taken that can enhance the values of ${\Delta}R/R_0$ by more than 2 times during low strain ranges. In high strain ranges, the electrical resistance changes markedly with strain/load in a step-wise manner due to the gradual ruptures of different types of carbon tows at different strain amplitudes. The values of ${\Delta}R/R_0$ due to the fracture of high modulus carbon tows are larger than 36%. Thus, it is demonstrated that the HCFRP sensors have a broad and stage-based sensing capability.

This research is to develop satiable battery charger with a variety of capacity and voltage specifications of battery. For this, voltage or current were controlled through buck converter which is DC voltage that already received three-phase at primary side and passed bridge rectifier diode. And, it was comprised of full-bridge converter and HFTR for insulation and a square wave AC. The transformer primary side was comprised in series to divide certain charging current and the secondly side was comprised of 6 fixed transformers so that they can generate certain amount of power and various output voltage through relay parallel compound 6 DC Link outputs. To confirm such structure's verification and validity, simulation with PSIM was conducted, and validity of proposed variable charger system was verified through 3kW stack production.
