A Study on the Sequence Impedance Modeling of Underground Transmission Systems (지중송전선로의 대칭분 임피던스 모델링에 관한 연구)

  • Power system fault analysis is commonly based on well-known symmetrical component method, which describes power system elements by positive, negative and zero sequence impedance. The majority of fault in transmission lines is unbalanced fault, such as line-to-ground faults, so that both positive and zero sequence impedance is required for fault analysis. When unbalanced fault occurs, zero sequence current flows through earth and ground wires in overhead transmission systems and through cable sheaths and earth in underground transmission systems. Since zero sequence current distribution between cable sheath and earth is dependent on both sheath bondings and grounding configurations, care must be taken to calculate zero sequence impedance of underground cable transmission lines. In this paper, EMTP-based sequence impedance calculation method was described and applied to 345kV cable transmission systems. Calculation results showed that detailed circuit analysis is desirable to avoid possible errors of sequence impedance calculation resulted from various configuration of cable sheath bonding and grounding in underground cable transmission systems.

  • This paper represents a study on disassembly sequence generation for automobile parts. This is particularly useful because adequate end-of-life disassembly becomes crucial as take-back obligations are imposed for environmental reasons. Therefore in this paper a method is suggested to automatically derive all the feasible subassemblies and feasible actions between them from the assembly modeling files. As a result, in consideration of the all pars and subassemblies the optimum disassembly sequence is generated. And the optimum disassembly sequence for a certain part or subassembly can be also generated.

An Expert System of Moulding Working for Air Intake Hose Products using 3-Dimensional Parametric Modeling Technique

  • This paper deals with an application on the mould machining of air intake hose product by using 3-dimensional parametric modeling techniques. The detailed domain is the 3-dimensional product with similar shapes and different sizes which needs too much working time for preparation of modeling or machining due to making a trial and errors repeatedly. Decision making rules for selection of modeling order and technique, and for calculation of cutting conditions, and for determination of sequence and method concerning machining operations are required by interview of expert engineers in the field. The developed expert system of modeling and machining is programmed by using a user programming language under the CAD/CAM software of the Personal Designer. The developed system that aids a mould engineer who is working in the modeling and machining section which deal with air intake hose product provides strong and useful capabilities.

  • Most of companies related to the area of B2B electronic commerce are making their efforts to innovate their existing business process into new designed process. XML-based electronic data interchange has potential to impact on reshaping the traditional EDI systems. This study intends to suggest a prototype of XML-based electronic data interchange using unified modeling language, with a case study applied in Korean automobile industry. In order to accomplish the research objectives, we employed UML as its standard modeling language, In this study, four diagramming techniques such as use case diagram, sequence diagram, class diagram, component diagram among eight modeling techniques are used for analyzing hierarchical business process. As a result of applying UML methodology, we design and develop XML/EDI applications efficiently. Our field test applied to Korean automobile industry shows that data modeling to design XML application using UML is better than existing methodologies in representing object schema of XML data and in extension and interoperability of systems.

Comparison of event tree/fault tree and convolution approaches in calculating station blackout risk in a nuclear power plant

  • Station blackout (SBO) risk is one of the most significant contributors to nuclear power plant risk. In this paper, the sequence probability formulas derived by the convolution approach are compared with those derived by the conventional event tree/fault tree (ET/FT) approach for the SBO situation in which emergency diesel generators fail to start. The comparison identifies what makes the ET/FT approach more conservative and raises the issue regarding the mission time of a turbine-driven auxiliary feedwater pump (TDP), which suggests a possible modeling improvement in the ET/FT approach. Monte Carlo simulations with up-to-date component reliability data validate the convolution approach. The sequence probability of an alternative alternating current diesel generator (AAC DG) failing to start and the TDP failing to operate owing to battery depletion contributes most to the SBO risk. The probability overestimation of the scenario in which the AAC DG fails to run and the TDP fails to operate owing to battery depletion contributes most to the SBO risk overestimation determined by the ET/FT approach. The modification of the TDP mission time renders the sequence probabilities determined by the ET/FT approach more consistent with those determined by the convolution approach.

  • In this paper, Power Management System(PMS) simulator for Liquid Nature Gas Carrier(LNGC) is developed. Major components of power system for LNGC, such as generator, diesel engine and governor, transformer, circuit breaker, and 3 phase loads models are built based on MATLAB/SIMULINK. With these designed major parts, PMS simulator modeling is carried out. Based on MATLAB/Graphical User Interface, PMS simulator control for LNGC, and Human Machine Interface for monitoring is designed. PMS simulator for LNGC carries out simulation according to sequence of characteristics analysis. By comparing results of predicted simulation for each sequence to that of characteristics analysis, the reliability of PMS simulator for LNGC will be verified.

A Geometric Constraint Solver for Parametric Modeling

  • Parametric design is an important modeling paradigm in CAD/CAM applications, enabling efficient design modifications and variations. One of the major issues in parametric design is to develop a geometric constraint solver that can handle a large set of geometric configurations efficiently and robustly. In this appear, we propose a new approach to geometric constraint solving that employs a graph-based method to solve the ruler-and-compass constructible configurations and a numerical method to solve the ruler-and-compass non-constructible configurations, in a way that combines the advantages of both methods. The geometric constraint solving process consists of two phases: 1) planning phase and 2) execution phase. In the planning phase, a sequence of construction steps is generated by clustering the constrained geometric entities and reducing the constraint graph in sequence. in the execution phase, each construction step is evaluated to determine the geometric entities, using both approaches. By combining the advantages of the graph-based constructive approach with the universality of the numerical approach, the proposed approach can maximize the efficiency, robustness, and extensibility of geometric constraint solver.

Reliability Analysis for Structure Design of Automatic Ocean Salt Collector Using Sampling Method of Monte Carlo Simulation

  • This paper presents comparative studies of reliability analysis and meta-modeling using the sampling method of Monte Carlo simulation for the structure design of an automatic ocean salt collector (AOSC). The thickness sizing variables of structure members are considered as random variables. Probabilistic performance functions are selected from strength performances evaluated via the finite element analysis of an AOSC. The sampling methods used in the comparative studies are simple random sampling and Sobol sequences with varied numbers of sampling. Approximation methods such as the Kriging model is applied to the meta-model generation. Reliability performances such as the probability failure and distribution are compared based on the variation of the sampling method of Monte Carlo simulation. The meta-modeling accuracy is evaluated for the Kriging model generated from the Monte Carlo simulation and Sobol sequence results. It is discovered that the Sobol sequence method is applicable to not only to the reliability analysis for the structural design of marine equipment such as the AOSC, but also to Kriging meta-modeling owing to its high numerical efficiency.

  • A fast pseudo-noise (PN) sequence acquisition algorithm for the direct-sequence (DS) spread spectrum system is proposed. The basic concept of the algorithm has been adopted from that of the classical sliding correlator. Mathematical modeling, analysis and computer simulation of the proposed system have been done. The results of analysis and computer simulation show that the acquisition system yields a significant performance improvement over the sliding correlator. Its acquisition time takes only 45 ms when signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) is -18dB. The algorithm developed has been implemented in hardware and its experimental result is also given.

  • In this paper, a method for camera position estimation in gasher using elechoendoscopic image sequence is proposed. In orders to obtain proper image sequences, the gasser in divided into three sections. It Is presented thats camera position modeling for 3D information extvac lion and image distortion due to the endoscopic lenses is corrected. The feature points are represented with respect to the reference coordinate system below 10 percents error rate. The faster distortion correction algorithm is proposed in this paper. This algorithm uses error table which is faster than coordinate transform method using n -th order polynomials.
