OP9 세포에서 포도당 흡수능에 대한 대계 추출물의 효과 (Effects of Herba Cirsii Extracts on Glucose Uptake in OP9 Cells)

  • Although the Herba Cirsii is known to posses beneficial health effects, the anti-diabetic effects and the mechanism of action have not been elucidated. In the present study we have shown that Herba Cirsii Extract (HCE) can stimulate glucose uptake in OP9 adipocytes. Unlike insulin, HCE did not stimulate the Ser473 phosphorylation and activation of Akt. The increasing effects of HCE on glucose uptake were inhibited by PD680509 and compound C pretreatment, which means that the glucose uptake effects by HCE were carried out by extracelluar signal-regulated kinase1/2(ERK1/2) and AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) activation. Further studies revealed that HCE stimulated glucose transport occurs through a mechanism involving ERK1/2 activation and AMPK activation.

  • For integrity evaluation of cracked or damaged structures, fracture toughness test results in ASTM are widely used. The fracture toughness values of the structures are used as an effective design criterion in nuclear plants and aircraft structures. Sometimes the difference of P-$\delta$ curve trend during the unloading /reloading cycle in the fracture toughness test using partial unloading compliance was observed. The phenomenon as a possible source of error in determining fracture toughness may be caused by the residual stress during unloading work-hardening and bucking of a specimen. Therefore, we evaluate the effect of bucking and compressive residual stress during the K-R and J-R testing using a finite element method.

  • 6-Chloro-2-hydrazinoquinoxaline(4) 또는 6-chloro-hydrazinoquinoxaline 4-oxide(7)를 alkyl(ethoxymethylene)cyanoacetate류와 반응시켜 prazolylquinoxaline류(5,8)를 합성하였다. 그리고 화합물 8을 dimethyl acethylenedicarboxylate와 반응시켜 1,3-쌍극성 고 리와 첨가반응과 고리변환에 의하여 pyrazolylpyrrolo[1,2-a]quinoxaline류(9)를 합성하였다.

  • A clincal study was performed on 124 cases of the esophageal diseases experienced at Department of thoracic & cardiovascular surgery, School of Medicine, Chosun University during 6 year period from 1986 to 1991. The result were as follows: 1. The incidence ratio of male to female in esophageal diseases was 3.6: l. 2. The most common esophageal disease was cancer and occupied 73% of the total. 3. The most common associated disease was pulmonary tuberculosis. 4. Esophageal stricuture occurs in young woman and its cause is lye and strong acid. 5. The mortality rate was 33% [2/6] in esophageal perforation

  • Status asthmaticus is a rare, fatal condition, especially in children. Sometimes respiratory support is insufficient with a mechanical ventilator or medical therapy for patients with status asthmaticus. In such situations, early extracorporeal membrane oxygenation application is a useful method for treating refractory respiratory failure. We report on a case of a six-year-old, male child who underwent venovenous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation support for refractory status asthmaticus.

  • Recently power plants and oil refineries are focusing on capacity enlargement for better efficiency through higher temperature and higher pressure. Thickness of boiler tubes becomes lessened due to oxidation and erasion caused by high temperature bums gas flowing over tubes outside. Accordingly, mechanical stress of tubes is increasing and that is a critical factor to make a crack and fracture. To prevent those sorts of accidents, aging assessment for proper periodic repair and replacement should be conducted reliably and reasonably. We performed IIT test on Cr-Mo steel, one of the most heat-resistant materials for facilities in power plants, and we report the test result and the considerable effectiveness of IIT test.
