Wireless sensor network has been widely used in Internet of Things (IoT) applications to support large and dense networks. As sensor nodes are usually tiny and provided with limited hardware resources, the existing multiple access methods, which involve high computational complexity to preserve the protocol performance, is not available under such a scenario. In this paper, we propose an intelligent Medium Access Control (MAC) protocol selection scheme based on machine learning in wireless sensor networks. We jointly consider the impact of inherent behavior and external environments to deal with the application limitation problem of the single type MAC protocol. This scheme can benefit from the combination of the competitive protocols and non-competitive protocols, and help the network nodes to select the MAC protocol that best suits the current network condition. Extensive simulation results validate our work, and it also proven that the accuracy of the proposed MAC protocol selection strategy is higher than the existing work.

In this paper, we developed a flexible transparent capacitive pressure sensor which can recognize X and Y coordinates and the size of force simultaneously by sensing a change in electrical capacitance. The flexible transparent capacitive pressure sensor was composed of 3 layers which were top electrode, pressure sensing layer, and bottom electrode. Silver nanowire(Ag NW)/poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene): poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) hybrid film was used for top and bottom flexible transparent electrode. The fabricated capacitive pressure sensor had a total size of 5 inch, and was composed of 11 driving line and 19 sensing line channels. The electrical, optical properties of the Ag NW/PEDOT:PSS and capacitive pressure sensor were investigated respectively. The mechanical flexibility was also investigated by bending tests. Ag NW/PEDOT:PSS exhibited the sheet resistance of $44.1{\Omega}/square$, transmittance of 91.1%, and haze of 1.35%. Notably, the Ag NW/PEDOT:PSS hybrid electrode had a constant resistance change within a bending radius of 3 mm. The bending fatigue tests showed that the Ag NW/PEDOT:PSS could withstand 200,000 bending cycles which indicated the superior flexibility and durability of the hybrid electrode. The flexible transparent capacitive pressure sensor showed the transmittance of 84.1%, and haze of 3.56%. When the capacitive pressure sensor was pressed with the multiple 2 mm-diameter tips, it can well detect the force depending on the applied pressure. This indicated that the capacitive pressure sensor is a promising scheme for next generation flexible transparent touch screens which can provide multi-tasking capabilities through simultaneous multi-touch and multi-force sensing.

Strain gauge type load cell is used widely as weight sensor. However, it has problems such as noise, power consumption, high cost and big size. Semiconductor type piezoresistive pressure sensor is practically used in recent for low hysteresis, good linearity, small size, light weight and strong on vibration. In this paper, we have fabricated the piezoresistive pressure sensor and packaged the miniature weight sensor. We packaged the miniature weight sensor by flip-chip bonding between die and PCB for durability, because the weight sensor is directly contacted on a physical solid distinct from air and oil pressure. We measured the characteristics of the weight sensor, which had the output of $10{\sim}80$ mV on the weight range of $0{\sim}2$ kg. In the result, we could fabricate the weight sensor with an accuracy of 3 %FSO linearity.
In this study, we describe the improvement of the resolution of a paper-based sensor by fabricating a high-concentration ninhydrin part using a low-temperature drying method to detect proline with high resolution. In the conventional paper-based sensor for detecting proline, the ninhydrin part is fabricated at room temperature, and in this process, the ninhydrin solution spreads around the ninhydrin part. Therefore, the concentration of the ninhydrin part becomes lower than that of the applied solution, lowering the resolution of the sensor. The proposed paper-based sensor better improved the sensitivity of the sensor compared to the existing sensor by fabricating a high-concentration ninhydrin part through drying the ninhydrin solution using a low-temperature drying method. Owing to the experiment, the intensity of the green color of the paper-based sensor with the integrated ninhydrin part fabricated at 10 ℃ is approximately 20% lower than the paper-based sensor with an integrated ninhydrin part fabricated at room temperature, indicating better sensor resolution. Therefore, the paper-based sensor with an integrated ninhydrin part fabricated at a high concentration could be useful for diagnosing drought.

The hybrid acoustic sensor for implantable hearing aid has the structure in which a sound pressure based acoustic sensor (ECM) and a vibration based acceleration sensor are combined. This sensor combines the low frequency sensitivity of an acoustic sensor with the high frequency sensitivity of an acceleration sensor, allowing the acquisition of a wide range of sound from low to high frequency. In this paper, an acceleration sensor for use in a hybrid acoustic sensor has been proposed. The acceleration sensor captures the vibration of the tympanic membrane generated by the acoustic signal. The size of the proposed acceleration sensor was determined to diameter of 3.2 mm considering the anatomical structure of the tympanic membrane and the standard of ECM. In order to make the hybrid acoustic sensor have high sensitivity and wide bandwidth characteristics, the aim of the resonance frequency of the acceleration sensor is to be generated at about 3.5 kHz. The membrane of the acceleration sensor derives geometric structure through mathematical model and finite element analysis. Based on the analysis results, the membrane was implemented through a chemical etching process. In order to verify the frequency characteristics of the implemented membrane, vibration measurement experiment using external force was performed. The experiment results showed mechanical resonance of the membrane occurred at 3.4 kHz. Therefore, it is considered that the proposed acceleration sensor can be utilized for a hybrid acoustic sensor.

Thermopile thermometer can measure the temperature of an object without attaching the object. It measures the temperature by receiving the radiation energy from objects. The idea of this is from the law of Stefan-Boltzmann. In the past it was not used well because the size was big and the cost was too expensive. But, In these days it can be used many field because the size become smaller and advantage of cost by using micro machine technology. However, The accuracy of measuring is not better than electric type. So we want to improve the accuracy of sensor by analyzing the heat transfer of the thermopile. To analyze temperature distribution in the thermopile sensor, we use the FEM software which is named ANSYS. The conduction and radiation heat transfer is considered to simulate the temperature distribution and time response inside of the sensor.

The rigorous requirements of modern spacecraft missions necessitate a precise attitude determination strategy. This paper mainly researches that, based on three space-borne attitude sensors: 3-axis rate gyros, 3-antenna GPS receiver and star-sensor. To obtain global attitude estimation after an information fusion process, a feedback-involved Federated Kalman Filter (FKF), consisting of two subsystem Kalman filters (Gyros/GPS and Gyros/Star-sensor), is established. In these filters, the state equation is implemented according to the spacecraft's kinematic attitude model, while the residual error models of GPS and star-sensor observed attitude are utilized, to establish two observation equations, respectively. Taking the sensors' different update rates into account, these two subsystem filters are conducted under a variable step size state prediction method. To improve the fault tolerant capacity of the attitude determination system, this paper designs malfunction warning factors, based on the principle of ${\chi}^2$ residual verification. Mathematical simulation indicates that the information fusion strategy overwhelms the disadvantages of each sensor, acquiring global attitude estimation with precision at a 2-arcsecs level. Although a subsystem encounters malfunction, FKF still reaches precise and stable accuracy. In this process, malfunction warning factors advice malfunctions correctly and effectively.
The sensor network that may be deemed to fall in the field of ubiquitous computing performs the basic function of transmitting sensing data through the autonomous sensing and the Ad hoc network. In order to collect and treat various sensing data at the time of application and manage extremely limited system resources, the sensor network requires the embedded operating system that uses low power, a small cord size and the least hardware resources. In this paper, The operating system having a new structure for constructing the IEEE 802. 15.4 MAC and Zigbee sensor network is suggested and can be formed by reviewing the characteristics and the core structural requirements of the operating system for the sensor network based on operating systems, which have been formed under existing similar conditions, and applying such features and core structural requirements to the design of the operating system for achieving the features and the requirements.
Sensor placement is a crucial aspect of bridge health monitoring (BHM) dedicated to accurately estimate and locate structural damages. In addressing this goal, a sensor placement framework based on the deflection influence line (DIL) analysis is here proposed, for the optimal design of damage detection-oriented BHM system. In order to improve damage detection accuracy, we explore the change of global stiffness matrix, damage coefficient matrix and DIL vector caused by structural damage, and thus develop a novel sensor placement framework based on the Fisher information matrix. Our approach seeks to determine the contribution of each sensing node to damage detection, and adopts a distance correction coefficient to eliminate the information redundancy among sensors. The proposed damage detection-oriented optimal sensor placement (OSP) method is verified by two examples: (1) a numerically simulated three-span continuous beam, and (2) the Pinghu bridge which has existing real damage conditions. These two examples verify the performance of the distance corrected damage sensitivity of influence line (DSIL) method in significantly higher contribution to damage detection and lower information redundancy, and demonstrate the proposed OSP framework can be potentially employed in BHM practices.
