  • Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) has limited power and bandwidth. In order to high data rate and high speed communication systems are required. Cooperative communication system can help to decrease power consumption through spatial diversity. In cooperative transmission, one partner node assists one sensor node to transmit their data to destination. Instead of using M partners for M sensor nodes, we propose 1 partner for M sensor nodes. And we proposed relay selection scheme base on ARQ. Proposed protocol offers higher diversity order as conventional one with much less bandwidth and power. The destination will consider the one packets received from the best relay to reduce the complexity of the system. We verified BER performance for the proposed protocol through Monte-Carlo simulation over Rayleigh fading plus AWGN.

  • The multi-path routing schemes that assigns labels to sensor nodes for the reliability of data transmission and the accuracy of an aggregation query over the sensor networks where data transfer is prone to defect have been proposed. However, the existing schemes have high costs for reassigning labels to nodes when the network topology is changed. In this paper, we propose a novel routing method that avoids duplicated data and reduces the update cost of a sensor node. In order to show the superiority of the proposed scheme, we compare it with the existing scheme through the various experiments. Our experimental results show that our proposed method reduces about 95% the amount of the transmitted data for restoration to node failure and about 220% the amount of the transmitted data for query processing over the existing method on average.

  • This paper deals with essentially secure group management and key transfer methods in a wireless sensor network environment. To provide an efficient security service to a widespread network with a large number of sensor nodes, the network has to be made up by several security groups, and Group Key distribution and group management are needed. In this paper we propose a mechanism for efficiently constructing and managing a security node by constructing a group using an algorithm to construct a logical group. Previous Group Key Transport method has special condition. When Base Station transports Group Key, all sensor nodes must share Secret Key with Base Station before it is intended to be deployed. Hence, we also propose a Key transport mechanism without sharing Secret Key between Base Station and sensor node.

  • In this paper, a power-aware query processing using optimized distributed R-tree in a sensor network is proposed. The proposed technique is a new approach for processing range queries that uses spatial indexing. Range queries are most often encountered under sensor networks for computing aggregation values. The previous work just addressed the importance but didn't provide any efficient technique for processing range queries. A query processing scheme is thus designed for efficiently processing them. Each node in the sensor network has the MBR of the region where its children nodes and the node itself are located. The range query is evaluated over the region which intersects the geographic location of sensors. It ensures the maximum power savings by avoiding the communication of nodes not participating over the evaluation of the query.

  • Due to the resource limitations of sensor nodes, providing a security protocol is a particular challenge in sensor networks. One popular method is the neighborhood-based key agreement protocol (NEKAP). NEKAP is an efficient and lightweight protocol, but it includes loopholes through which adversaries may launch replay attacks by successfully masquerading as legitimate nodes. In this paper, we present a modified security protocol for wireless sensor networks. We provide four types of keys for each node, which adapt to different security requirements; and an improvement is made to alleviate the replay attack. According to our qualitative performance analyses, the proposed security protocol provides effectiveness in terms of authentication security, attacking node detection, and replay attack resilience when compared to the conventional method.

  • In recent years, the demands of multimedia data in wireless sensor networks have been significantly increased for the high-quality environment monitoring applications that utilize sensor nodes to collect multimedia data. However, since the amount of multimedia data is very large, the network lifetime and network performance are significantly reduced due to excessive energy consumption on particular nodes. In this paper, we propose an energy-efficient dynamic area compression scheme in wireless multimedia sensor networks. The proposed scheme minimizes the energy consumption in the huge multimedia data transmission process by compression using the Chinese Remainder Theorem(CRT) and dynamic area detection and division algorithm. Our experimental results show that our proposed scheme improves the data compression ratio by about 37% and reduces the amount of transmitted data by about 56% over the existing scheme on average. In addition, the proposed scheme increases network lifetime by about 14% over the existing scheme on average.

  • A by-pass path in wireless sensor networks is the alternative path which be able to forward data when a routing path is being broken. One reason of depleting energy is occurred by the path. The method for solving prior to addressed the problem is proposed. However, this method may deplete radio resource. The best path has advantage that network lifetime of sensor nodes is prolonged; on the contrary, in order to maintain the best path it have to share their information between the entire nodes. In this paper, we propose the best path searching algorithm in the distributed three dimensional sensor networks. Through the neighboring informations sharing in the proposed method, the proposed algorithm can decide the best k-path as well as the extension of network lifetime.

However, since the amount of multimedia data is very large, the network lifetime is significantly reduced due to excessive energy consumption on particular nodes. To overcome this problem, in this paper, we propose a high efficiency data compression scheme in wireless multimedia sensor networks. The proposed scheme reduces the packet size by a multiple compression technique that consists of primary compression that deletes the lower priority bits considering characteristics of multimedia data and secondary compression based on Chinese Remainder Theorem. To show the superiority of our scheme, we compare it with the existing compression scheme. Our experimental results show that our proposed scheme reduces the amount of transmitted data by about 55% and increases network lifetime by about 16% over the existing scheme on average.

  • In this paper we design and implement a sensor network management framework(SNMF) for ubiquitous sensor networks(USNs). The SNMF employs the policy-based management approach for the autonomous and energy-efficient management of USNs. Moreover, a new light-weight policy distribution protocol called TinyCOPS-PR is designed and USN PIB for low-level policy is also defined. This allows the high-level policies defined by an administrator to translate into the specific low-level policies. The low-level policies are executed on sensor nodes so it can fulfill the proper management actions. The sensor nodes that receive some policies from an administrator perform local management actions according to those policies. SNMF can therefore realize small energy consumption and bring long network lifetime. It can also manage USNs automatically with a minimum of human interference.

  • Recently, there are tendency that wireless sensor network is one of the important techniques for the future IT industry and thereby application areas in it are getting growing. Researches based on the hierarchical network topology are evaluated in good at energy efficiency in related protocols for wireless sensor network. LEACH is the best well known routing protocol for the hierarchical topology. However, there are problems in the range of message broadcasting, which should be expand into the overall network coverage, in LEACH related protocols. Thereby, this paper proposes a new clustering scheme to solve the co-shared problems in them. The basic idea of our scheme is using the inherent memory restrictions in sensor nodes. The results show that the proposed scheme could support the load balancing by distributing the clusters with a reasonable number of member nodes and thereby the network life time would be extended in about 1.8 times longer than LEACH.
