  • In this paper, we assume that an output sensor of a ball and beam system is coupled with AC measurement noise. We propose an output feedback controller for a ball and beam system under measurement noise of feedback sensor. Measurement noise makes feedback signals distorted, and results in performance degradation or even system failure. Therefore, we need to design a robust controller to accommodate the possible measurement noise in the feedback information. Our controller is equipped with a gain-scaling factor to minimize the effect of measurement noise in output feedback information. We give an analysis of the controlled system and illustrate the improved control performance via simulation and experiment for a ball and beam system.

  • In this paper, We presented the algorithm for estimating a reliability between nodes in wireless distributed sensor networks (DSN). To estimate the reliability between nodes, we first modeled DSN as probability graph. Links of the graph are always reliable and the probability of node failure is independent. After all possible simple path which can be established between two nodes are examined, we perform sharp operation to remove repetition event between two nodes. Using probability for each variable of the minimized Boolean equation, we present the reliability formula.

  • An easy and efficient method is proposed for a computation of reliability of preprocessing filters in the fire control system when the sensor data are frequently unreliable depending on the operation environment. It computes state transition probability matrix after modeling filter states as a Markov process, and computing false alarm and detection probability of each filter state under the given sensor failure probability. It shows that two important indices such as distributed state probability and error variance can be derived easily for a reliability assessment of the given sensor fusion system.

  • Wireless sensor networks for forest monitoring are typically deployed in fields in which manual intervention cannot be easily accessed. An interesting approach to extending the lifetime of sensor nodes is the use of energy harvested from the environment. Design constraints are application-dependent and based on the monitored environment in which the energy harvesting takes place. To reduce energy consumption, we designed a power management scheme that combines dynamic duty cycle scheduling at the network layer to plan node duty time. The dynamic duty cycle scheduling is realized based on a tier structure in which the network is concentrically organized around the sink node. In addition, the multi-paths preserved in the tier structure can be used to deliver residual packets when a path failure occurs. Experimental results show that the proposed method has a better performance.

  • In centralized control sensor network, tree-based multi-channel communication overcomes the recurrent channel switching and makes possible to transfer data simultaneously from different sources. In our paper, we propose a greedy algorithm named as NIT (Non-Intersecting Tree) that the trees can avoid inter-tree interference. We also propose channel switching technique by which trees can avoid link failure or area blocking due to external interference locally without rerunningthe algorithm and without interrupting the whole network. At first we applied our algorithm for a random topology and then we evaluate the performance of the network using NS-2 simulator. The results show that with the increasing of channel the throughputand delivery ratio are increased significantly. We got better performance than a using a recent proposed Tree-based Multi-Channel Protocol (TMCP).

  • In this paper, we consider the agent management scheme for the data gathering in the crowd group. To the critical data gathered in dangerous region, the possibility of mission failure caused by the sensor node damage can be high. Hence, we study the node processing to the danger agent node through the cooperative network method for the sensor nodes.

  • Among various types of harmful gases, hydrogen sulfide is a strong toxic gas that is mainly generated during spillage and wastewater treatment at industrial sites. Hydrogen sulfide can irritate the conjunctiva even at low concentrations of less than 10 ppm, cause coughing, paralysis of smell and respiratory failure at a concentration of 100 ppm, and coma and permanent brain loss at concentrations above 1000 ppm. Therefore, rapid detection of hydrogen sulfide among harmful gases is extremely important for our safety, health, and comfortable living environment. Most hydrogen sulfide gas sensors that have been reported are electrical resistive metal oxide-based semiconductor gas sensors that are easy to manufacture and mass-produce and have the advantage of high sensitivity; however, they have low gas selectivity. In contrast, the electrochemical sensor measures the concentration of hydrogen sulfide using an electrochemical reaction between hydrogen sulfide, an electrode, and an electrolyte. Electrochemical sensors have various advantages, including sensitivity, selectivity, fast response time, and the ability to measure room temperature. However, most electrochemical hydrogen sulfide gas sensors depend on imports. Although domestic technologies and products exist, more research is required on their long-term stability and reliability. Therefore, this study includes the processes from electrode material synthesis to sensor fabrication and characteristic evaluation, and introduces the sensor structure design and material selection to improve the sensitivity and selectivity of the sensor. A sensor case was fabricated using a 3D printer, and an Ag reference electrode, and a Pt counter electrode were deposited and applied to a Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) filter using PVD. The working electrode was also deposited on a PTFE filter using vacuum filtration, and an electrochemical hydrogen sulfide gas sensor capable of measuring concentrations as low as 0.6 ppm was developed.

  • Currently, the K-Water uses various valves that can be remotely controlled for optimal water management. Valve system fault can be classified into rotor defects, stator defects, bearing defects, and gear defects of induction motors. If the valve cannot be operated due to a gear fault, the water management operation can be greatly affected. For effective water management, there is an urgent need for preemptive repairs to determine whether gear is damaged through failure prediction diagnosis.. Recently, deep learning algorithms are being applied for valve failure diagnosis. However, the method currently applied has a disadvantage of attaching a vibration sensor to the valve. In this paper, propose a new algorithm to determine whether a fault exists using a convolutional neural network (CNN) based on the voltage and current information of the valve without additional sensor mounting. In particular, a normalized Lisasjous diagram was used to maximize the fault classification performance in the CNN-based diagnostic system.

  • This paper presents a prototype expert system (ESRCP) for Reactor Coolant Pumps. The purpose of this system is to diagnose RCP failures and to offer corrective operational guides to plant operators. The first symptoms for the diagnosis are the alarms which are related to the RCP domain. Alarm processing is required to find a primary causal alarm when multiple alarms occur. The system performs the alarm processing by rule-based deduction or priority factor operation. To diagnose the RCP failure, the system performs rule-based deduction or Bayesian inference. Various sensor readings are required as symptoms to infer a root cause. When the symptoms are insufficient or uncertain to diagnose accurately, Bayesian inference is performed.

  • In this paper, we have researched semiconductor optical filters to solve the problem of the high failure rate that are recognize bad of financial account, jam of financial account and the ATM service interruption due to failure of accurate location information among the operation of the ATM (automatic teller machine) systems. A semiconductor optical filters that have high resolution and less diffuse, high transmittance are able to detect the information of financial account surface accurately. Therefore, it is a stable filter that is able to minimize the incidence of disability. In this paper, we drew the determinants by element for implement an excellent semiconductor optical filters. Based on this, we had to be able to implement the semiconductor optical filter that is able to be mounted on the actual ATM system through future studies.
