  • A new method of calculating sensitivity coefficients of core characteristics relative to infinite-dilution cross sections has been developed. Conventional sensitivity coefficients are evaluated for the changes of effective cross sections which are dependent on individual models of core and cell. Therefore a correction has been derived to the conventional sensitivity coefficients based on the perturbation theory. The accuracy of the present method has been verified by comparing numerical results of sensitivity coefficients with a reference Monte-Carlo method.

  • ZVS Half-Bridge converter is proposed. This converter is operating in fixed switching frequency to regulate output voltage. The ZVS is maintained by Partial resonance during the OFF interval of both switches. Using self-driven synchronous rectifier, this circuit minimizes the Power loss in the rectification circuit. 50[W] ZVS Half-Bridge converter is simulated and built. Two results has been compared.

  • For the development of a biocompatible nano-scale drug carrier. hydrophilic polysaccharide pullulan was hydrophobized by the conjugation with fatty acid. The synthesized polymers were characterized by the measurements of fourier transform infrared (FT -IR) spectroscopy and 1H -nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. In aqueous solution. hydrophobically modified puliulan was self-assembled and structured into the core-shell type nanoparticles. (omitted)

  • A power generation systems are proposed to convert ambient mechanical vibration into electrical energy using cantilever-type piezoelectric materials. The vibration-based power device can be used for self-powered systems without batteries. This paper presents the theoretical analysis for the coupled equations of piezoelectric and structural motions and investigates the dynamic characteristics of the self-power system using transfer function method. The theoretical model is verified by the finite element analysis of the resonance frequency, the dynamic response of the structure and the sensor sensibility. Experimental results measured using a prototype system agree with the theoretical predictions. The system is shown to produce 34.5 ㎼ in average. Finally, we perform the optimal design for system variables to maximize output power.

  • It is well known that a rotating bar potential can transport angular momentum to the disk and hence cause the evolution of the disk. Such a process is particularly important in disk galaxies since it can result in fuelling AGNs and starburst ring activities. In this paper, we will present the numerical simulations to show how this mechanism works. The problem, however, is quite complicated. We classify our simulations according to the type of Lindbald resonances and try to single out the individual roles they play in the disk evolution. Among many interesting results, we emphasize the identification of the origin of the starburst rings and the dense circumnuclear molecular disks to the instability of the disk. Unlike most of the other simulations, the self-gravitation of the disk is emphasized in this study.

  • This paper presents the self power generation from vibration using the piezoelectric bimorph actuator. The piezoelectric bimorph actuator was well developed with PZT-PNN-Fe piezoelectric ceramics. As the applied voltage was increased, a linear change of displacement was obtained with a relatively high ratio of 12.53 um/V for the bimorph actuator. Moreover, when the motor's rotational speed was 2000 rpm, the bimorph actuator, which has a resonance frequency of 68 Hz, exhibited the most efficient generation voltage of 10.4 V. This bimorph actuator could make the LED, emitting 60 mW, working successfully. Therefore, it is anticipated that the bimorph actuator will be useful as a power source for the next-generation electronic devices.

  • In order to properly quantify fission reactor neutronics parameter uncertainties, we have to use covariance data and sensitivity profiles consistently. In the present paper, we establish two consistent methodologies for uncertainty quantification: a self-shielded cross section-based consistent methodology and an infinitely-diluted cross section-based consistent methodology. With these methodologies and the covariance data of uranium-238 nuclear data given in JENDL-3.3, we quantify uncertainties of infinite neutron multiplication factors of light water reactor and fast reactor fuel cells. While an inconsistent methodology gives results which depend on the energy group structure of neutron flux and neutron-nuclide reaction cross section representation, both the consistent methodologies give fair results with no such dependences.

  • In this paper, we propose a new mART(modified ART) neural network by combining the winner neuron definition method of SOM(self-organizing map) and the real-time adaptive clustering function of ART(adaptive resonance theory) and construct it in a modular structure, for the purpose of organizing the feature maps of three dimensional targets. Being constructed in a modular structure, the proposed modular mART can effectively prevent the clusters from representing multiple classes and can be trained to organze two dimensional distortion invariant feature maps so as to recognize targets with three dimensional distortion. We also present the recognition result and self-organization perfdormance of the proposed modular mART neural network after carried out some experiments with 14 tank and fighter target models.

  • A balanced dual-band bandpass filter based on ${\lambda}$/2 stepped-impedance resonators and open-loop resonators is proposed in this letter. By employing a type of self-feedback structure, an extra transmission zero is introduced near the common-mode resonance frequency, and the common-mode signal is suppressed. The measured results indicate that the filter can operate in 2.46 GHz and 5.6 GHz bands, and the insertion loss is 1.85 dB and 1.9 dB, respectively. Also, better common-mode suppression is achieved.
