Results: Differences in yangsaeng according to general characteristics were as follows. Total yangsaeng and all of yangsaeng categories except seasonal yangsaeng were significantly different according to self-perceived health. Diet yangsaeng was significantly different according to cohabitation, house ownership and self-perceived health. Activity and rest yangsaeng was significantly different according to age, gender, job, successful aging and self-perceived health. Exercise yangsaeng was significantly different according to gender and self-perceived health. Seasonal yangsaeng was significantly different according to successful aging and self-perceived health. Sleep yangsaeng was significantly different according to age, gender, job and self-perceived health. Sex life yangsaeng was significantly different according to all of the variables except religion and successful aging. There was a positive correlation between yangsaeng and the variables. Conclusion: The findings of this study may be useful in understanding the health status of community-dwelling elders and developing more specific health promotion programs.
The purpose of this study was to explore the developmental patterns of self-concept of pre-adolescents and adolescents by using the longitudinal data originated by the Korean Institute for Research in the Behavioral Sciences (KIRBS). Specifically, using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), the effects of parents and peer groups on the stability and change of self-concept were examined across a 9-year-period. The subjects were 62 children(29 boys and 33 girls) from the KIRBS longitudinal data. The results showed that, peer relationships revealed consistent effects on children's self-concept from pre-adolescence to mid-adolescence. In particular, this influence was most evident at 7 years of age and at 16 years of age. However, parental influence was almost non-existent for 7-year-olds, equivalent to peer relationships for 10-year-olds, and decreased for 16-year-olds. On the whole, parental and peer influence on self-concept gradually decrease in adolescence. Nevertheless, parental and peer influence continue to maintain a certain level of influence from childhood to adolescence. This study provides an understanding of developmental change and stability in the self-concept of Korean adolescents.
The current study was designed to expand oar understanding of children's entertainer idolization phenomenon by investigating the relationship between Korean teens'entertainer idolization and their self-esteem. Four hundred and fifty five children (244 11 year-olds, 211 14 year-olds) were randomly selected from 4 elementary schools and middle schools located in Inchon and Seoul, Korea. A set of reliable and valid self-reporting questionnaire was used: Adolescent Idolization of Pop Singer (Raviv, 1996 translated into Korean), which include questions about how children express their entertainer idolization, the reason for the idolization and the influence of the idols on children's lives, was selected to measure children's entertainer idolization and Self-Esteem Questionnaire for Korean Children and Adolescence (Kyung-Yeun, 1999 Korean) was used to measure children's self-esteem in academic achievement, peer-related, physical-appearance, family-related. and personality dimensions. The major results of the study were: (1) The singers and male entertainers were the most popular among Korean teens. (2) The results of two sample comparisons showed that 14-year olds and girls expressed their entertainer idolization more actively than their counter paras (11-year olds and boys, respectively). (3) Entertainers'personal characteristics were found to be the most important factor that influence idolization. (4) The relationship between entertainer idolization and self-esteem was stronger in the case of 11-year olds than in the case of 14-year olds.
Purpose: This study was designed to determine visiting nurses' job performance and self confidence by career and number of visiting households. Methods: The subjects were 120 visiting nurses fully in charge of the visiting health care program working in 18 community health care centers, who were checked for 5 domains of visiting nurses' job, 39 tasks of job performance and self confidence. ANOVA test, Scheffe test and Pearson correlation coefficient were used for data analysis. Results: The level of job performance and self confidence indicated highest in understanding of the visiting health care program among 5 domains of visiting nurses' job. The level of job performance and self confidence indicated lowest in community resource connection. When nurses were classified by a career with approximately 5 years of working experience, nurses with a career of more than 5 years were highly significant. Job performance and self confidence were positively correlated. Conclusion: Based on the result of this study, it is recommended that the education program for newly hired nurses should be differentiated from that for visiting nurses with a career in order to improve quality of the visiting nursing program and capacity of residents' health care.

Meta-cognition is the knowledge and cognition of cognitive phenomena, including the control of ones own memory, comprehension, and thought processes. Meta-cognition is similar to self-awareness, which is the understanding of oneself, and affects people's attitudes and behaviors. This study demonstrated the mediating effect of meta-cognition between internal locus of control and self-efficacy. Internal locus of control refers to the steady faith that any outcome is related to one's own efforts. Self-efficacy is a collection of personal strong belief that one individual can achieve his or her own goals. In this study, if a person has a tendency to adopt an internal locus of control, meta-cognition is improved, and self-efficacy can in turn be increased if meta-cognition is improved. This study conducted an empirical analysis through questionnaires conducted on 260 university students. The results of the research demonstrated that there is a highly positive correlation between meta-cognition, control position, and self-efficacy. In addition, this study emphasized that positive meta-cognition with internal locus of control can lead to positive attitudes and behaviors, and positive results.

Purpose: This purpose of this study was to examine the effects of a rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT) counseling program on self-efficacy and adjustment to college life for nursing freshmen. Methods: This study used a nonequivalent control pretest-posttest quasi-experimental design. Thirty-eight new nursing students were randomly assigned to either an experimental group (n=18) or a control group (n=20) recruited from a four-year nursing college. An REBT counseling program was composed of 8 group sessions of orientation, understanding the theory of REBT, finding irrational beliefs, internalizing rational beliefs, and closing over a duration of 5 weeks. The duration of each session was 90 minutes. Self-efficacy and adjustment to school life were measured by the Sherer's Self-Efficacy Scale and Baker & Siryk's Student Adjustment to College before and after the REBT counseling program. Data were analyzed using t-tests and paired t-tests. Results: The experimental group showed a significant improvement in self-efficacy compared to the control group. There was no significant change in college life adjustment between the experimental and control groups. Conclusion: An REBT counseling program could be applied as an effective program in enhancing self-efficacy resulting in positive and goal-oriented behavior for new nursing students in college.
The objective of this study was to analyze the influence of physical education classes based on Flipped Learning on self-directed learning abilities and learning attitude towards these classes, for middle school students. The study selected 90 students as an experimental group (3 classes) and 97 students as a control group (3 classes), among 240 students of the first-year students attending a middle school located at Jeonju City of South Korea, applying convenience sampling, one of the non-probability sampling methods. For the experimental group, 36 sessions of physical education classes were held for 14 weeks, while the control group received teacher-centered classes. Comparing the results with the control group, the experimental group showed significant differences in terms of all sub factors of self-directed learning abilities, namely; desire for learning, learning objective establishment, basic self-management abilities, selection of learning strategy and self-reflection. Moreover, the experimental group manifested significant differences in terms of all sub factors of attitude towards the physical education subjects, namely; positive emotions, negative emotions, health & physical strength, interpersonal relations, physical activities & movements, and active participation & positive performance. From the findings, it can be considered that physical education classes based on Flipped Learning contributed to improving self-directed learning abilities and attitude towards physical education classes. This result can serve as a significant basic material for designing and performing classes in raising the understanding of Flipped Learning and effectively applying Flipped Learning in physical education classes.
Purpose: This study systematically examined the concept of digital selling readiness of salespeople. Additionally, this study empirically confirms the sequential mediating roles of digital literacy and salesperson self-efficacy in the impact of digital selling readiness on customer-oriented behavior. Research design, data, and methodology: We collected data from salespeople at a Bank and Financial Service firm in South Korea. A total of 254 salespeople were invited to participate, with 154 surveys returned. After removing the questionnaires with missing values, 150 complete surveys were employed for the analysis. Results: The empirical analysis indicates that digital selling readiness positively affects digital literacy. Digital literacy, in turn, is positively associated with self-efficacy, leading to increased customer-oriented behaviors among salespersons. This study also confirms the sequential mediating effects of digital literacy and self-efficacy in the impact of salespeople's digital selling readiness on customer-oriented behavior. Conclusions: Our research deepens the understanding of how digital selling readiness fosters customer-oriented behavior through the sequential mediating effects of digital literacy and self-efficacy. This study extends the previous model by sequentially involving digital literacy and self-efficacy to better understand the psychological processes of digital selling. The results highlight the role of digital selling readiness in preparing salespeople for digital sales.
Objective: The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of young children's behavioral inhibition on self-determination, examining the sequential mediating effects of mothers' parenting anxiety and autonomy support. Methods: Participants in this study were 225 mothers with children aged 6 years. An online survey was conducted, and SPSS Statistics 23.0 was used for basic analysis. The research model used the Process Macro 4.0 program. Results: The higher the level of behavioral inhibition, the lower the child's self-determination. Furthermore, a mediating effect was confirmed when parenting anxiety was added. However, in the single mediation model and the sequential mediation model in which autonomy support was added, the direct effects of behavioral inhibition temperament and parenting anxiety on self-determination disappeared. As a result, behavioral inhibition characteristics were found to have an indirect effect on self-determination through the sequential mediating effects of mother's parenting anxiety and autonomy support. Conclusion/Implications: If a mother with a child with a behaviorally inhibited temperament properly handles the negative emotions experienced during parenting based on her understanding of the child and supports the child to have a high degree of autonomy, she can enhance the child's right to self-determination.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine how the self-image of nursing students can affect the perception of the nurse and to verify the moderating effect of self-regulatory efficacy on perception of the nurse and self image of nursing students. Methods: This study was carried out by 768 nursing students of 10 Universities from all parts of the country from June 18, 2012 to July 13, 2012. Data was analyzed by the SPSS (frequency, ANOVA, and hierarchial multiple regression analysis) program. The moderating effect of self-regulatory efficacy in the relationship between self-image and the nurse's perception of nursing students was measured. Results: The result of male students shows that self-regulatory efficacy affects the perception of the nurse. In the case of female students, their self-image and self-regulatory efficacy were statistically significant. In addition, the moderating effect of self-regulatory efficacy was statistically significant. Conclusions: Colleges of nursing are in need of providing chances to students to attend a class related to understanding how to encourage a positive self image. In addition, a positive self image can effect a nurse's identity. As the moderating effect of self-regulatory efficacy is proved to be effective, nursing students should request a way to achieve recognition with professionalism during nurse's training.
