A Study about spatial experience on Intermedia Space of Eco-Architecture (친환경건축의 매개공간에 있어서 공간체험에 관한 연구)

  • The architectural space is the involuntary place where man lives and experiences, and as a 3 dimensional space through the continuous experience with the concept of 4th dimension of time, it provides the observers with the dramatic space imagery These kinds of space experiences are experienced mentally and perceptively through the physical elements of inner and outer space of the architectural buildings, and this space imagery is created here by all the space composing elemensts of the building. These space experiences are caused by the changing processes of the space characteristics, and the observers perceive the changes in space characteristics. The present building is going with Eco-Architecture. When 2008 sees the building,,Eco-Architecture design which hits appears. There is a possibility of seeing 16 kind types from that place. And From here examined the spatiality which is expressed. These changing processes of inner and outer space, space versus space, and unit space, which are perceived by the observer. It's way to help in architectural design and wishes.

Study on Communication Interface of Multiple Smartphones for Unit Control in a PC (PC에서 유닛 제어를 위한 다중 스마트폰의 통신 인터페이스 연구)

  • This study presents the unit control of a PC (Personal Computer) program using multiple smartphones based on ad hoc communication. A design of the data packet that multiple smartphones send to a computer, and a framework that manages and controls the unit in a computer after analyzing the data packet, are proposed. As a result, multiple users are able to control their own units using their smartphones while seeing the monitor connected to a computer. In other words, multiple users can share the same game in a computer or control their units embedded in a system using their smartphones. An experimental result shows that a racing game in a PC can be realized by the proposed communication interface, where four iPhones are used to control their units in a computer. Thus, the proposed framework can be effectively used for unit control in a PC using multiple smartphones.

  • The eyes are the first sensory organs to perceive the environment. We become accustomed to the environment with our eyes. When we contact the environment, we perceive the appearance of an object with our eyes. Then we recognize our position, and perceive the shape surrounding the object interacting with space. The perception of seeing constructs experiences which control most of our recognition, and the experiences are images of the environment surrounding it. So they are significantly expressed into sensitive and mental elements of material and non-material world. Gibson's ecological perception theory analyzes and information system, which helps man to move effectively, and its component stimulus'. The important thing is that we should understand the combination of systems gathering stimulus not as an individual system but as one whole system.

  • With the increase in multi-cultural families, Korea is seeing a rapid increase in immigrated housewives, who are closely related to food culture. However, studies for the diet of multi-cultural families, which is most closely related to our lives have not been sufficiently researched. With this background, this study conducted research for immigrated women nationwide about food cultures to provide the possibility which Korean food culture would be developed harmoniously with various foreign food cultures. In this study, the immigrated women seemed to have adapted to Korean food culture quickly, but they showed differences according to some conditions like countries they are from and the time they have been in Korea. To achieve this, we need to conduct consistent and in depth studies for food cultures in multi-cultural families so that we can make healthy development in food culture, harmonious with traditional Korean culture.

  • Typography has two aspects, form and meaning. It is a collaboration of elements both to be read and to be seen. Typographer has to consider that typography has a meaning from only visual form as well as various meanings from every receiver. Because meaning could be differently translated through their cultures, experiences and so on. New visual communication style, typography as discourse, is not one-way communication, but dialogue communication.

  • We investigate various physical parameters of the narrow-line region (NLR) of two type I QSOs, PG1012+008 and PG1307+085. Using the spectra obtained with the FORS1 at the VLT with an excellent seeing condition (<0.7"), we can extract spectra with varying distances from the center out to the galactic scales. From these spectra we derive physical quantities such as reddening, temperature, electron density, and ionization parameter as a function of distance from the center. We also explore the possibility of defining the size of the NLR with line ratio diagnostics regardless of starbursts, shock-ionized gas, or tidal tails.

  • The approach, for ensuring the quality and safety of a railway software can be considered with two points of views seeing from products, and from processes. The process point of view is to validate maturity of the organizations in accordance to the judging processes of organizations, which are specified by CMMI(Capability Maturity Model Integration) or SPICE(Software Process Improvement and Capability dEtermination : ISO/IEC15504). In this paper, we are trying to find approaches to estimate the maturity of manufacturer and assessment organization in the railway system.

Some effects of audio-visual speech in perceiving Korean

  • The experiments reported here investigated whether seeing a speaker's face (visible speech) affects the perception and memory of Korean speech sounds. In order to exclude the possibility of top-down, knowledge-based influences on perception and memory, the experiments tested people with no knowledge of Korean. The first experiment examined whether visible speech (Auditory and Visual - AV) assists English native speakers (with no knowledge of Korean) in the detection of a syllable within a Korean speech phrase. It was found that a syllable was more likely to be detected within a phrase when the participants could see the speaker's face. The second experiment investigated whether English native speakers' judgments about the duration of a Korean phrase would be affected by visible speech. It was found that in the AV condition participant's estimates of phrase duration were highly correlated with the actual durations whereas those in the AO condition were not. The results are discussed with respect to the benefits of communication with multimodal information and future applications.

  • This monograph is based on the purpose of exploiting the program, which let designers to easily compile the input data of a widely used FEM analysis program, SAP90 - one of structural analysis programs, and making it easy to design slab bridges by studying more efficient analysis method with optimization method. The knowledge of position at which a maximum moment occurs is helpful to do a practical design. Seeing that more time and capital should be invested when engineers depend on manual work in the process of making input data repeatedly, the automatic process would increase the degree of reliability and productivity.

Distortion in Visual Memory for Wide-angle Image (광각 이미지에 대한 시각적 기억의 왜곡)

  • Viewers remember seeing more of the scene than was present in the physical input: an illusion known as boundary extension. This study examined the aspects of the distortion by presenting 69 subjects with wide-angle views of four scenes. Results of recognition and reproduction test showed that the boundary extension is not a unidirectional phenomenon. On the contrary, boundary restriction and foreground extension were observed with extreme wide-angle views of scenes. Results support the hypothesis that boundary restriction and foreground extension were mediated by the activation of a memory schema during picture perception.
