In this paper, we propose improved methods which are image conversion and extraction method of watershed seed using morphological characteristic of teeth on complement image. Conventional tooth segmentation methods are occurred low detection ratio at molar region and over, overlap segmentation owing to specular reflection and morphological feature of molars. Therefore, in order to solve the problems of the conventional methods, we propose the image conversion method and improved extraction method of watershed seed. First, the image conversion method is performed using RGB, HSI space of tooth image for to extract boundary and seed of watershed efficiently. Second, watershed seed is reconstructed using morphological characteristic of teeth. Last, individual tooth segmentation is performed using proposed seed of watershed by watershed algorithm. Therefore, as a result of comparison with marker controlled watershed algorithm and the proposed method, we confirmed higher detection ratio and accuracy than marker controlled watershed algorithm.
In this paper, we present a novel method for design of fuzzy Logic controllers by defining a set of characteristic parameters (CFLCS). These parameters are extracted and defined by examining the structure and characteristics of the individual components of FLCs and parameterizing those. Based upon this formulation, a series of simulations is conducted for plants having simple dynamics in order to see the performance of this proposed method. The simplicity and effectiveness of this method are discussed in detail.
Tobacco mosaic tobamovirus (TMV), cucumber mosaic cucumovirus (CMV), cucumber green mottle mosaic tobamovirus (CGMMV) and zucchini yellow mosaic potyvirus (ZYMV) from individual fruits and seeds of hot pepper and cucumber were detected by the reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). The dilution end-points for RT-PCR in curde sap from TMV. and CMV - infected hot pepper leaves and CMV - and CGMMV-infected cucumber leaves were 10-5. However, the amount of PCR product obtained from preparation of ZYMV-infected cucumber leaf was 10-fold lower than those of CMV or CGMMV-infected cucumber leaves. In hot pepper, both TMV and CMV were detected in all parts of the fruit wall tissue, but the yields of PCR products in the fruit stalk and its surrounding tissues were higher than those of the end parts of the fruit. On the other hand, in cucumber fruit infected with CMV, CGMMV or ZYMV, the fruit wall tissue and seed located in both stalk and end parts showed higher yields of PCR products than those of intermediate parts. Of five viruses that were analysed, only TMV in hot pepper seed, and CGMMV and CMV in cucumber seed were detected in testa parts.

This study was performed to investigate the incidence of Hosta uirus X (HVX), a Potexvirus, from cultivated hosta ornamental plants in Korea and to ascertain seed transmission of the virus from infected parent plant to progeny ones for breeding program of hosta plants. Infection rate of HVX in cultivated hostas was 25.6 % (11 out of 43 collected samples contained HVX) based on Western blot and RT-PCR detection methods. Most of HVX-infected hostas showed visible systemic leaf symptoms (mosaic, mottle, curling, stunting or combinations). Variability of HVX was confirmed by sequences of coat protein gene of individual isolates from different hostas. HVX was seed-transmitted on Hosta 'Blue Cadet'. The virus was detected from seeds, and sprouts and seedlings from the virus-contaminated seed sources. Over 7.5 % of seeds were HVX-contaminated surveyed in this study, Our data suggest that HVX can be transmitted by seed source, and indexing of the virus should be done for breeding program of Hosta.

The seed, the most basic component, is an important factor in increasing production and efficiency in agriculture. Seeds with superior genes can be expected to improve agricultural productivity, crop survival, and reproduction. Currently, however, screening of superior seeds depends mostly on manual work, which requires a lot of time and manpower. In this paper, we propose a system that can extract the characteristics of seed phenotypes by using computer image processing technology, so that even a small number of people and a short period of time are needed to extract the characteristics of seeds. The proposed system detects individual seeds from images containing large quantities of seeds, and extracts and stores various characteristics such as representative colors, area, perimeter and roundness for each individual seed. Due to the regularity of input images, the accuracy of individual seed extraction in the proposed system is 99.12% for soybean seeds and 99.76% for rice seeds. The extracted data will be used as basic data for various data analyses that reflect the opinions of experts in the future, and will be used as basic data to determine the expressive nature of each seed.
Ecological success of introduced species is frequently attributed to the reproductive characters of those species. We examined the relationship between both flowering season and plant size and reproductive characters in two introduced species of Taraxacum, e.g., T. officinale and T.laevigatum. Seventy six plants of T. officinale and 23 plants of T. laevigatum were randomly tagged from a population at the sungshin Women's University in April of 1997. The size and number of vegetative characters such as rosette diameter, leaf number, and the largest leaf length and width were measured for each plant at the onset of flowering. The infructescence was collected continually from each plant before seed dispersal from April to August of 1997. The number of infructescence per plant, and seed number and total seed weight per infructescence were measured. Mean individual seed weight per infructescence was also obtained. T. officinale possessed larger sized, but smaller number of, leaves than T. laevigatum, thereby resulting in no significant difference in total leaf area. There was a trend that vegetatively larger plants in both of these species produced reproductive characters larger in size or greater in number, except for seed number and total seed weight per infructescence in T. laevigatum. All reproductive characters examined in T. officinale decreased toward the end of flowering season. In T. laevigatum, infructescence number per plant also declined during a flowering season: however, mean seed number per infructescence increaed toward the end of flowering season with no significant seasonal change in the total seed weight per infructescence. T. officinale produced on average about twice as many seeds per plant as T. laevigatum during a growing season. These two Taraxacum species produced quite small seeds in size compared to the endemic species, exhibiting a far better dispersal ability of introduced species. These data demonstrate that most reproductive characters decline in size and number in both species during a long flowering period, but the two species appear to employ different strategies to achieve reproductive success in disturbed habitats.
The possibility of grape seeds as industrial resources was tested by analyzing various chemical proper-ties of their oils from seven different species. The range of crude oil content of the grape seeds was 26.0-32.0% showing the highest content in Steuden, Mean individual fatty acid contents in the grape seeds were lioleic (70.75%) oleic (18.48%) stearic (2.01%) and palmitic (8.45%) acids. Stearic acid was low in Jingyu and high oleic acid was found in Fugiminori compared with other grape strains. Total lipirds were consisted of nutral lipid (87.25%) glycolipid(4.68%) and phospholipid *8.06%) Content of crude proteins was approximatery 11.2% with some variation between strains. Total sugar content was 2.35~5.63$\mu$g/mg with reducing sugar 3.20$\mu$g/mg. Mean saponification value of crude oils was 186.3mg.KOH.oil Antioxidant activity of grape seed oils was better than that of sesame oil resulting in the hi-oils and sesame oil after heat treatment at 18$0^{\circ}C$.
The antioxidant activity of roasted defatted perilla (Perilla frutescens) seed was determined by measuring its radical scavenging effect on 1,1-diphenyl-2- picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radicals, inhibitory activity on total reactive oxygen species generation in kidney homogenates using 2',7'-dichlorodihydro-fluorescein diacetate, and scavenging effect on authentic peroxynitrites. The methanolic extract of roasted defatted perilla seed showed strong scavenging activity in both DPPH and peroxynitrite radicals, and thus fractionated with several solvents. The antioxidant activity potential of the individual fraction was in the order of ethyl acetate>n-butanol>dichloromethane>water>n-hexane fraction. The ethyl acetate soluble fraction exhibiting strong antioxidant activity was further purified by repeated silica gel and Sephadex LH-20 column chromatography. Luteolin was isolated as one of the active principles from the ethyl acetate fraction, together with the inactive chrysoeriol and apigenin.
This study proposed a field-applicable natural regeneration method using natural seeding to afforest a secondary growth forest after felling in Larix kaempferi plantations. In 2016, an experimental site was established usingseed-tree and clear-cutting methods in Gapyeong, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. Characteristics of seed fructification and inflow in the natural regeneration site were analyzed along with an experimental site in Bonghwa, Gyeongsangbuk-do, which was established in 2014. As a result, the number of seeds per individual tree of V age class L. kaempferi was 690,340 seeds in a good year, with an estimated 13.8 million seeds per ha fruited in natural regeneration sites of L. kaempferi with 25 seed-trees per ha. Seed dispersal began in September and germination rates of seeds dispersed until November were greater than 40%. Reserved seed-tree sites showed the highest amount of seed inflow, followed by the seed-tree site and clear-cut site in descending order. The reserved seed-tree method performed better than other methods for evenly scattering seeds. Therefore, the timing of logging and seedbed generation for natural regeneration of L. kaempferi is estimated to be most effective before September when seeds are purposefully scattered using the reserved seed-tree method as an effective method for uniform seed supply.
Amethysts were grown hydrothemally. The origin of amethyst color is iron center, which is developed by correlation between Fe3+(substitutional) and Fe3+ (interstitial)1). Crackless amethysts without smoky centers were grown only from major (1011) and minor (1101) seeds on K2c03 solutions. The violet color of amethyst depended on both iron concentration and amount of irradiation of r-ray. Increasing the iron concentration resulted in the deep violet color. Also amethysts color were changed to dark proportional to amount of irradiation. From visible spectra it was found that increasing the amount of irradiation affected not the character of individual iron center but the total number of iron centers.
