  • Conditional Access System (CAS) is a core security mechanism of IPTV SCP (Service and Content Protection) which enables only authenticated user to be able to watch the broadcasting contents. In the past, it was general that CAS was built in Set-Top Box (STB) as hardware or as a detachable cable card. However, numerous researches in Downloadable CAS (DCAS), where users can download CAS code in their STB through their network, have been recently conducted widely due to the lack of security and scalability problem. In this paper, the security requirements of OpenCable based DCAS which is typical example of downloadable IPTV SCP will be derived, the novel authentication and key management scheme will be proposed by using the Authentication Proxy (AP) which is the core DCAS. Also, the benefits of the proposed system will be evaluated by comparison and analysis with preceding research.

  • A Protection Profile(PP) is a common security and assurance requirements for a specific class of Information Technology security products such as firewall and smart card. A PP should be included "TOE(Target of Evaluation) Security Environment", which is consisted of subsections: assumptions, treat, organizational security policies. This paper presents a new threats statement generation method for developing TOE security environment section of PP. Our survey guides the statement of threats in CC(Common Criteria) scheme through collected and analysed hundred of threat statements from certified and published real PPs and CC Tool Box/PKB that is included a class of pre-defined threat and attack statements. From the result of the survey, we present a new asset classification method and propose a threats statement generation model. The former is a new asset classification method, and the later is a production rule for a well formed statement of threats.

  • The government was fully aware of the gravity of a recent massive leak of personal information of credit card users. Meanwhile, the government just took a light disciplinary action by imposing a fine, but it showed its intention to strengthen the regulations by taking the severest disciplinary action. The tightened regulations against personal information leak will be applied to the private security industry without exception to protect individual people's property and lives if such an incident occurs in that industry that deals with a wide variety of personal information such as CCTV data or privacy information all the time. The purpose of this study was to examine the state of the protection and management of personal information for service users among private security firms in an effort to suggest some reform measures. The findings of the study were as follows: First, administrators or managers who are involved with personal information protection should make a full-fledged effort to gather information. Second, counseling or related programs should be provided for small and mid-sized security firms to guarantee thorough personal information protection. Third, Korea Security Association should improve the educational system related to personal information protection to resolve problems with this education currently provided for managers and employees of these companies.

  • Recently, with smart device proliferation and providing the various services using this, they have interested in mobile and Smart TV security. Smartphone users are enjoying various service, such as cloud, game, banking. But today's mobile security solutions and Study of Smart TV Security simply stays at the level of malicious code detection, mobile device management, security system itself. Accordingly, there is a need for technology for preventing hacking and leakage of sensitive information, such as certificates, legal documents, individual credit card number. To solve this problem, a variety of security technologies(mobile virtualization, ARM TrustZone, GlobalPlatform, MDM) in mobile devices have been studied. In this paper, we propose an efficient method to implement security technology based on TYPE-I virtualization using ARM TrustZone technology.

  • In 2005, A. Saxena, B. Soh and S. Priymak [10] proposed a two-flow blind identification protocol. But it has a weakness of the active-intruder attack and uses the pairing operation that causes slow implementation in smart cards. In 2008, Y. W. Lee [9] made a method of the active-intruder attack on their identification scheme and proposed a new zero-knowledge blind identification protocol for smart cards. In this paper, we give more simple and fast protocols than above protocols such that the prover using computationally limited devices such as smart cards has no need of computing the bilinear pairings. Computing the bilinear pairings is needed only for the verifier and is secure assuming the hardness of the Discrete-Logarithm Problem (DLP).

  • In this paper, we propose a new blind group identification protocol and a hidden group signature protocol as its application. These protocols involve many provers and one verifier such that (1) the statement of all the provers are proved simultaneously, (2) and also all the provers using computationally limited devices (e.g. smart cards) have no need of computing the bilinear pairings, (3) but only the verifier uses the bilinear pairings. A. Saxena et al. proposed a two-round blind (group) identification protocol in 2005 using the bilinear pairings. But it reveals weakness in the active-intruder attack, and all the provers as well as the verifier must have devices computing bilinear pairings. Comparing their results, our protocol is secure from the active-intruder attack and has more fit for smart cards. In particular, it is secure under only the assumption of the hardness of the Discrete-Logarithm Problem in bilinear groups.

  • Corrected Block TEA(or XXTEA) is a block cipher designed to correct security weakness in the original block TEA in 1998. In this paper, XXTEA cipher hardware which can encrypt or decrypt between 64-bit and 256-bit messages using 128-bit master key is implemented. Minimum message block size is 64-bit wide and maximal message block size is 256-bit wide. The designed XXTEA can encrypt and decrypt variable-length message blocks which are some arbitrary multiple of 32 bits in message block sizes. XXTEA core of this paper is described using Verilog-HDL and downloaded on Vertex4. The operation frequency is 177MHz. The maximum throughput for 64-bit message blocks is 174Mbps and that of 256-bit message blocks is 467Mbps. The cryptographic IP of this paper is applicable as security module of the mobile areas such as smart card, internet banking, e-commerce and IoT.
