  • In this paper, we suggest an advanced method searching for differential trails of block cipher with ARX structure. we use two techniques to optimize the automatic search algorithm of differential trails suggested by A. Biryukov et al, and obtain 2~3 times faster results than Biryukov's when implemented in block cipher SPECK. This results contribute to find better differential trails than previous results.

  • Full-mesh IPSec tunnels, which constitute a black network, are required so that the dynamically changing PT (Plain Text) networks can be reachable across the black network in military environments. In the secure and mobile black networks, dynamically re-configuring IPSec tunnels and security policy database (SPD) is very difficult to manage. In this paper, for the purpose of solving mobility and security issues in military networks, we suggest the relating main technologies in association with DMIDP (Dynamic Multicast-based IPSec Discovery Protocol) based on existing IPSec ESP (Encapsulating Security Payload) tunnels and IPSec key managements. We investigate the main parameters of the proposed DMIDP techniques and their operational schemes which have effects on mobility and analyze operational effectivemess of the DMIDP with proposed parameters.

  • Security threats through e-mail service, a representative tool to convey information on the internet, are on the sharp rise. The security threats are made in the path where malicious codes are inserted into documents files attached and infect users' systems by taking advantage of the weak points of relevant application programs. Therefore, to block infection of camouflaged malicious codes in the course of file transfer, this work proposed an integrity-checking and behavior-based detection system using File Transfer System (FTS), logical network partition, and conducted a comparison analysis with the conventional security techniques.

  • Corporations use e-mail as their primary method for internal communication and business processes. By their nature, the e-mails are in general used for major business processes that contain large amounts of business information. When there is a critical event, such as Technology leakage, an e-mail message can become important evidence. However, as there is a high likelihood that a suspect will intentionally erase an e-mail message, the ability to recover deleted e-mail is very important. This pater analyzes the deleted e-mail item structure in files of various e-mail clients, and explains the possibility and methods of recovery.

  • OTP (One Time Password) is widely used for protecting accounts on Internet banking, portal services and online game services in Korea. OTP is very strong method for enforcing account security but there are several ways for exploiting vulnerabilities caused by implementation errors. These attacks can work because of the weakness from OTP enabled system's vulnerabilities, not for OTP's algorithm itself. In this paper, we present the known attack scenarios such as MITM (Man-in-the-Middle) attack and various reverse engineering techniques; also, we show the test result of the attacks and countermeasures for these attacks.

  • COVID-19 poses a major risk to global health, highlighting the importance of faster and proper diagnosis. To handle the rise in the number of patients and eliminate redundant tests, healthcare information exchange and medical data are transmitted between healthcare centres. Medical data sharing helps speed up patient treatment; consequently, exchanging healthcare data is the requirement of the present era. Since healthcare professionals share data through the internet, security remains a critical challenge, which needs to be addressed. During the COVID-19 pandemic, computed tomography (CT) and X-ray images play a vital part in the diagnosis process, constituting information that needs to be shared among hospitals. Encryption and image steganography techniques can be employed to achieve secure data transmission of COVID-19 images. This study presents a new encryption with the image steganography model for secure data transmission (EIS-SDT) for COVID-19 diagnosis. The EIS-SDT model uses a multilevel discrete wavelet transform for image decomposition and Manta Ray Foraging Optimization algorithm for optimal pixel selection. The EIS-SDT method uses a double logistic chaotic map (DLCM) is employed for secret image encryption. The application of the DLCM-based encryption procedure provides an additional level of security to the image steganography technique. An extensive simulation results analysis ensures the effective performance of the EIS-SDT model and the results are investigated under several evaluation parameters. The outcome indicates that the EIS-SDT model has outperformed the existing methods considerably.

  • From an information security perspective, protecting sensitive data requires utilizing algorithms which resist theoretical attacks. However, treating an algorithm in a purely mathematical fashion or in other words abstracting away from its physical (hardware or software) implementation opens the door to various real-world security threats. In the modern age of electronics, cryptanalysis attempts to reveal secret information based on cryptosystem physical properties, rather than exploiting the theoretical weaknesses in the implemented cryptographic algorithm. The correlation power attack (CPA) is a Side-Channel Analysis attack used to reveal sensitive information based on the power leakages of a device. In this paper, we present a power Hacking technique to demonstrate how a power analysis can be exploited to reveal the secret information in AES crypto-core. In the proposed case study, we explain the main techniques that can break the security of the considered crypto-core by using CPA attack. Using two cryptographic devices, FPGA and 8051 microcontrollers, the experimental attack procedure shows that the AES hardware implementation has better resistance against power attack compared to the software one. On the other hand, we remark that the efficiency of CPA attack depends statistically on the implementation and the power model used for the power prediction.

  • This paper is about Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) cell security in which an Output Feedback (OFB) mode is applied to an AES block ciphers. ATM cells are divided into user data cells and maintenance cells, and each cell is 53 octets in size and consists of a header of 5 octets and a payload of 48 octets. In order to encrypt/decrypt ATM cells, the boundaries of cells must be detected, which is possible using the Header Error Control (HEC) field in the header. After detecting the boundary of the cell, the type of payload is detected using a payload type (PT) code to encrypt only the user cell. In this paper, a security method for ATM cells that satisfies the requirements of ISO 9160 is presented.

  • Nuclear power plants have recognized the importance of nuclear cybersecurity. Based on regulatory guidelines and security-related standards issued by regulatory agencies around the world including IAEA, NRC, and KINAC, nuclear operating organizations and related systems manufacturing organizations, design companies, and regulatory agencies are considering methods to prepare for nuclear cybersecurity. Cryptographic algorithms have to be developed and applied in order to meet nuclear cybersecurity requirements. This paper presents methodologies for validating cryptographic algorithms that should be continuously applied at the critical control system of I&C in NPPs. Through the proposed schemes, validation programs are developed in the PLC, which is a critical system of a NPP's I&C, and the validation program is verified through simulation results. Since the development of a cryptographic algorithm validation program for critical digital systems of NPPs has not been carried out, the methodologies proposed in this paper could provide guidelines for Cryptographic Module Validation Modeling for Control Systems in NPPs. In particular, among several CMVP, specific testing techniques for ECB mode-based block ciphers are introduced with program codes and validation models.

  • The iris, a biometric information, is safe, unique, and reliable, such as fingerprints, and is personal information that can significantly lower the misrecognition rate than other biometric authentication. However, due to the nature of biometric authentication, it is impossible to replace it if it is stolen. There is a case in which an actual iris photo is taken and 3d printed so that the eyes work as if they were in front of the camera. As such, there is a possibility of iris leakage through high-definition images and photos. In this paper, we propose to improve iris masking performance by supplementing iris region masking research based on existing blurring techniques. Based on the results derived in this study, it is expected that it can be used for the security of video conference programs and electronic devices.
