  • In the recently, violent crime and accidental crime has been generated continuously. Consequently, people anxiety has been heightened. The Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) has been used to ensure the security and evidence for the crimes. However, the video captured from CCTV has being used in the post-processing to apply to the evidence. In this paper, we propose a flexible multi-level models for estimating whether dangerous behavior and the environment and context for pedestrians. The situation analysis builds the knowledge for the pedestrians tracking. Finally, the decision step decides and notifies the threat situation when the behavior observed object is determined to abnormal behavior. Thereby, tracking the behavior of objects in a multi-region, it can be seen that the risk of the object behavior. It can be predicted by the behavior prediction of crime.

  • The existing CCTV has limitation such as problem on usage of the off-line type of recorded image for specific investigation, and requirement on interactive operator intervention for real-time surveillance. Therefore, it is required to develop the intelligent CCTV equipped with various functionalities in order to overcome drawbacks mentioned above. In this paper, implementation methods of image-based virtual fence were proposed by using the spline curves with supplied control for setup of surveillance area. In addition, pre-alarm region within the predefined distance was established with tangent and normal lines extracted from control points. The image-based virtual fence can be used for remote detection of intrusion and provision of real-time intrusion alarm, and can be expected to use in safety-related application areas including security and crime prevention.

  • According to a research by global IT market research institute IDC, CSIM(Converged Security Information Management) market of Korea was estimated to be 1.7 trillion KRW in 2010, and it has grown approximately 32% every year since. IDC forcasts this size to grow to 12.8 trillion KRW by 2018. Moreover, this case study exemplifies growing importance of CSIM market worldwide. Traditional CSIM solution consists of various security solutions(e.g. firewall, network intrusion detection system, etc.) and devices(e.g. CCTV, Access Control System, etc.). With this traditional solution, the the data collected from these is used to create events, which are then used by the on-site agents to determine and handle the situation. Recent development of IoT industry, however, has come with massive growth of IoT devices, and as these can be used for security command and control, it is expected that the overall amount of event created from these devices will increase as well. While massive amount of events could help determine and handle more situations, this also creates burden of having to process excessive amount of events. Therefore, in this paper, we discuss potential events that can happen in CSIM system and classify them into 3 groups, and present a model that can categorize and process these events effectively to increase overall efficieny of CSIM system.

  • Today's security initiatives tend to integrate the physical and information securities which have been run by completely separate departments. That is, the converged security management becomes the core in the security market trend. However, to the best of our knowledge, we cannot find any solutions how to combine these two security events for the converged security. In this paper, we propose an information security object-driven approach which utilizes the physical security events to enhance and improve the information security. For scalability, we also present a systematic method using the analytic hierarchy process finding the meaningful event combinations among the large number of physical security events. In particular, we show the whole implementation processes in detail where we consider the information security object 'illegal computing system access' combined with two physical security devices - access controller and CCTV+video analyzer system.

  • Smart cities are expected to provide residents with convenience via various agents such as CCTV, delivery robots, security robots, and unmanned shuttles. Environmental data collected by various agents can be used for various purposes, including advertising and security monitoring. This study suggests a surveillance map data framework for efficient and integrated multimodal data representation from multi-agents. The suggested surveillance map is a multilayered global information grid, which is integrated from the multimodal data of each agent. To confirm this, we collected surveillance map data for 4 months, and the behavior patterns of humans and vehicles, distribution changes of elevation, and temperature were analyzed. Moreover, we represent an anomaly detection algorithm based on a surveillance map for security service. A two-stage anomaly detection algorithm for unusual situations was developed. With this, abnormal situations such as unusual crowds and pedestrians, vehicle movement, unusual objects, and temperature change were detected. Because the surveillance map enables efficient and integrated processing of large multimodal data from a multi-agent, the suggested data framework can be used for various applications in the smart city.

  • The DVR industry has been grown with their own, proprietary systems without the need of standards because the security products are independently installed in small scale and the communication needs are very limited. The industry might have tighter security than having standardized products, but the appearance of IP surveillance and the need of communications with IP products such as IP Phones and IP-PBX made the standardization unavoidable. In this paper, we built an IP surveillance system with SIP based session control and investigated the applications of it other than the security itself.
