Performance Analysis by Secondary link Frame structure in UAV System (무인기 운용환경을 고려한 보조링크 프레임 구조설계에 따른 성능분석)

  • In this paper, we apply the LMMSE(: Linear Minimum Mean Square Error) algorithm to overcome the Doppler effect according to the UAV(: Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) velocity in multipath fading channel environment. Simulation results show that the performance difference depends on the pilot arrangement and pattern, and we confirmed that the frame structure proposed in this paper can provide a stable secondary link for high speed UAV system.

  • The objective of present work is to use numerical simulation to investigate the complex three-dimensional and secondary flow structures developed at the inlet and impeller in a centrifugal pump at design and off-design points. The pump impeller is shrouded with 6 backward swept blades and with a specific speed of 0.8574. The characteristic of the pump is measured experimentally with straight and curved intake sections. Numerical computation is carried out to investigate the pump inlet flow structures and subsequently the flow field within the centrifugal pump. The numerical results showed that strong interaction between the impeller eye and intake section. Secondary flow structure occurs upstream at the pump inlet has great influence on the pump performance and flow structure within the impeller.

Involvement of lymphoid inducer cells in the development of secondary and tertiary lymphoid structure

  • During development lymphoid tissue inducer (LTi) cells are the first hematopoietic cells to enter the secondary lymphoid anlagen and induce lymphoid tissue neogenesis. LTi cells induce lymphoid tissue neogensis by expressing a wide range of proteins that are associated with lymphoid organogenesis. Among these proteins, membrane-bound lymphotoxin (LT) $\alpha1\beta2$ has been identified as a critical component to this process. LT$\alpha1\beta2$ interacts with the LT$\beta$-receptor on stromal cells and this interaction induces up-regulation of adhesion molecules and production of chemokines that are necessary for the attraction, retention and organization of other cell types. Constitutive expression of LT$\alpha1\beta2$ in adult LTi cells can result in the formation of a lymphoid-like structure called tertiary lymphoid tissue. In this review, we summarize the function of fetal and adult LTi cells and their involvement in secondary and tertiary lymphoid tissue development in murine models.

  • Construction machinery includes an engine enclosure separated from a cooling system enclosure by a wall to reduce noise and advance cooling system performance. For this structure, however, the axial fan cannot be of benefit to the engine room, and so the temperature rise in the engine room makes several bad conditions. This paper proposes that hot air in engine room is evacuated tv secondary pipe using jet pump. This paper demonstrates the structure and the effect of jet pump and useful guideline on design of area, length, and shape of secondary pipe to maximize the effect of jet pump.

Genome Scale Protein Secondary Structure Prediction Using a Data Distribution on a Grid Computing

  • After many genome projects, algorithms and software to process explosively growing biological information have been developed. To process huge amount of biological information, high performance computing equipments are essential. If we use the remote resources such as computing power, storages etc., through a Grid to share the resources in the Internet environment, we will be able to obtain great efficiency to process data at a low cost. Here we present the performance improvement of the protein secondary structure prediction (PSIPred) by using the Grid platform, distributing protein sequence data on the Grid where each computer node analyzes its own part of protein sequence data to speed up the structure prediction. On the Grid, genome scale secondary structure prediction for Mycoplasma genitalium, Escherichia coli, Helicobacter pylori, Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Caenorhabditis slogans were performed and analyzed by a statistical way to show the protein structural deviation and comparison between the genomes. Experimental results show that the Grid is a viable platform to speed up the protein structure prediction and from the predicted structures.

Backbone 1H, 15N and 13C Resonance Assignment and Secondary Structure Prediction of HP0062 (O24902_HELPY) from Helicobacter pylori

  • HP0062 is an 86 residue hypothetical protein from Helicobacter pylori strain 26695. HP0062 was identified ESAT-6/WXG100 superfamily protein based on structure and sequence alignment and also contains leucine zipper domain sequence. Here, we report the sequence-specific backbone resonance assignment of HP0062. About 97.7% of all $^1H_N,\;^{15}N,\;^{13}C_{\alpha},\;^{13}C_{\beta}\;and\;^{13}C=O$ resonances were assigned unambiguously. We could predict the secondary structure of HP0062 by analyzing the deviation of the $^{13}C_{alpha}\;and\;^{13}C_{\beta}$ chemical shifts from their respective random coil values. Secondary structure prediction shows that HP0062 consist of two ${\alpha}$-helices. This study is a prerequisite for determining the solution structure of HP0062 and can be used for the study on interaction between HP0062 and DNA and other Helicobacter pylori proteins.

Quantitative Analysis of Patents Concerning Cathode Active Materials for Lithium-Ion Secondary Batteries Based on Layer Structure (층상구조기반의 리튬이차전지용 양극 활물질에 관한 특허정량분석)

  • This paper discusses quantitative analyses of patents published for cathode active materials for lithium secondary batteries based on layer structure. Numbers of the patents analyzed were 356, 1628, 2915, 439, and 611 for Korea, USA, Japan, Europe, and PCT (WO), respectively. Trends of improved technologies and alternative technologies concerning lithium cobalt, from 1991 to 2012 were examined and the patent shares distribution of each principal countries about lithium secondary battery technologies were also scrutinized. The number of patents for the mixed structure technology and next-generation lithium secondary battery technology increased numerously in 2000. Particularly in 2005, lots of patents were also published and SANYO (34.5%), SONY (17.5%), LG (7%), and SAMSUNG (5.5%) possessed leading patent applicants. Finally, the research focus on cathode active materials for lithium secondary batteries was confirmed by bubble chart distributions for component-by-step process.

Probing Starch Biosynthesis Enzyme Isoforms by Visualization of Conserved Secondary Structure Patterns

  • Generally, enzymes in the starch biosynthesis pathway exist in many isoforms, contributing to the difficulties in the dissection of their specific roles in controlling starch properties. In this study, we present an algorithm as an alternative method to classify isoforms of starch biosynthesis enzymes based on their conserved secondary structures. Analysis of the predicted secondary structure of plant soluble starch synthase I (SSI) and soluble starch synthase II (SSII) demonstrates that these two classes of isoform can be reclassified into three subsets, SS-A, SS-B and SS-C, according to the differences in the secondary structure of the protein at C-terminus. SS-A reveals unique structural features that are conserved only in cereal plants, while those of SS-B are found in all plants and SS-C is restricted to barley. These findings enable us to increase the accuracy in the estimation of evolutionary distance between isoforms of starch synthases. Moreover, it facilitates the elucidation of correlations between the functions of each enzyme isoforms and the properties of starches. Our secondary structure analysis tool can be applicable to study the functions of other plant enzyme isoforms of economical importance.

Nucleotide Sequence Analysis and Secondary Structure Modeling of the 3'-Noncoding Regions of Two Korean Strains of Turnip Mosaic Virus (순무 모자이크 바이러스 두 한국계통의 3' 말단 비번역부위에 대한 염기서열분석 및 2차구조 모델링)

  • The RNA nucleotide sequences of the 3/-noncoding regions (3'-NCRs) of two Korean strains of turnip mosaic virus (TuMV), Ca and cqs, have been determined from their cDNA clones that encompassed the 3'-terminal regions of the viral genomic RNAs. The 3'-NCRs of both strains were 209 nucleotides long, terminated with GAC residues and poly (A) tails. The potential polyadenylational signal motif, UAUGU, was located 140 nucleotides upstream from the poly (A) tail in each of the virus. A highly conserved hexanucleotide sequence [A G U G A/U G/C], which was common in the 3'-NCRs of the potyvirus RNAs, was also found at the regions of 119 bases upstream from the 3'-end. Comparison of the 3'-NCRs of the two Korean isolates with those of four strains from Canada, China and Japan showed significantly identical genotypes (94.3∼99.5%). The secondary structure of three loops with long stems was found within the 3'-NCRs by sequence analysis. The substituted bases in the region among the six TuMV strains did not alter their secondary structures. Length of the 3'-NCRs of the know 11 potyviral RNAs and TuMV RNAs was different from one another and their nucleotide sequences showed 55.7% to 24.0% of homology. The 3'-NCR, therefore, is considered to be useful for phylogenetic studies in potyviruses.

  • A lithium ion secondary battery using carbon as a negative electrode has been developed. Further improvements to increase the cell capacity are expected by modifying the structure of the carbonaceous material. There are hopes for the development of large capacity lithium ion secondary batteries with long cycle, high energy density, high power density, and high energy efficiency. In the present paper, needle cokes from petroleum were examined as an anode of lithium ion secondary battery. Petroleum cokes, MCL(Molten Caustic Leaching) treated in Korea Institute Energy Research, were carbonized at various temperatures of 0, 500, 700, $19700^{\circ}C$ at heating rate of $2^{\circ}C$/min for lh. The electrolyte was used lM liPF6 EC/DEC (1:1). The voltage range of charge & discharge was 0.0V(0.05V) ~ 2.0V. The treated petroleum coke at $700^{\circ}C$ had an initial capacity over 560mAh.g which beyond the theoretical maximum capacity, 372mAh/g for LiC6. This phenomena suggests that carbon materials with disordered structure had higher cell capacity than that the graphitic carbon materials.
