  • Despite the recent remarkable advances in the computing power of mobile devices, the heat and battery problems still restrict their performances, particularly compared to PCs. Therefore, in the application of the ray-tracing technique for high-quality rendering, the consideration of a method that traces only the secondary rays while the effects of the primary rays are generated through rasterization-based OpenGL ES rendering is worthwhile. Given that most of the rendering time is for the secondary-ray processing in such a method, a new volume-grid technique for dynamic scenes that enhances the tracing performance of the secondary rays with a low coherence is proposed here. The proposed method attempts to model all of the possible spatial secondary rays in a fixed number of sampling rays, thereby alleviating the visitation problem regarding all of the cells along the ray in a uniform grid. Also, a hybrid rendering pipeline that speeds up the overall rendering performance by exploiting the mobile-device CPU and GPU is presented.

  • Kinetic and structural studies have been carried out on the effects of meso-tetrakis(4-sulfonatophenyl)-porphyrin ($H_2TPPS_4$) as an anionic and meso-tetrakis(3-N-methyl-pyridyl)porphyrin ($H_2TMPYP$) as a cationic porphyrin with adenosine deaminase (ADA) in 25 mM citrate/phosphate buffer, pH = 4-8, at $37^{\circ}C$ using UVvis spectrophotometry, circular dichroism (CD), fluorescence spectrophotometry as well as molecular dynamics (MD) and molecular docking. Kinetic results showed that the two porphyrins are non-competitive inhibitors. Increasing pH, increases $K_I$ and cationic porphyrin has a higher $K_I$ and lower binding constant ($K_b$) at all pH ranges. Analyzing the secondary structure revealed that both ligands decrease the secondary structure and that the anionic porphyrin is more effective.

  • The autoclave process is frequently utilized in the manufacturing of aircraft parts because of the low void content and high fiber volume fraction. However, due to the slow curing process (5∼8 hours per part) and it's limited producibility for complicated shape, this process is very expensive and applied to the relatively simple geometry structures. RTM is considered as an alternative process to overcome the limitation of autoclave process. In this study, the idea of RTM application on the secondary Fairing structure of aircraft has been proved to be technically feasible and very cost effective by changing the multiple part of subassembly into one integral composite structure.

  • Backbone $^1H$, $^{13}C$ and $^{15}N$ resonance assignments are presented for the anticodon binding domain (residues 557-674) of human glycyl-tRNA synthetase (GRS). Role of the anticodon binding domain (ABD) of GRS as an anticancer ligand has recently been reported and its role in other diseases like Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) and polymyositis have increased its interest. NMR assignments were completed using the isotope [$^{13}C/^{15}N$]-enriched protein and chemical shifts based secondary structure analysis with TALOS+ demonstrate similar secondary structure as reported in X-ray structure PDB 2ZT8, except some C-terminal residues. NMR signals from the N-terminal residues 557 to 571 and 590 to 614 showed very weak or no signals exhibiting dynamics or conformational exchange in NMR timescale.

  • The objective of this article is finding optimized locations of active mounts applied to 6-DOF beam structure with two active paths. When sinusoidal excitation forces are applied to the beam structure, secondary forces from two active mounts which can minimize (ideally becoming zero) transmitted forces are calculated mathematically and the vibration attenuation performance is validated through computer simulations. When the force applied to two active mounts are relatively low, those specific locations are considered as optimized location of active mounting system. As the location of mount changes, amplitude and phase of secondary forces in each path are analyzed with 3D plots. Based on the simulation results, a criterion for selecting mounting location is suggested and it would be very useful for selecting actuators for active mounts appropriately.

  • Both structural transformation and education are the predominant subjects in the literature of development economics. This study examines the relationship between education before the tertiary level and the structural transformation of provinces by using Vietnam as a case study. In this study, education before the tertiary level would be disaggregated into three groups: primary, lower secondary, and upper secondary, then analyzed simultaneously on three-panel data models. Research data is taken from the statistical yearbook of provinces in Vietnam for 2015-2018. Research results show that education before the tertiary level plays a vital role in structural transformation. The enrolment rate of various education levels has a different influence on economic structure, and the lower secondary level has more significant effects than the upper secondary level. This reflects that participating in lower secondary is a fundamental requirement for taking some jobs in the non-agriculture sector, while upper secondary helps to upgrade the learner's abilities to respond to higher requirement jobs. The high rate of repeaters in upper secondary education will slow down the structural shift towards non-agriculture, and changing the traditional attitude about repeaters plays an essential role in improving this rate.

  • An application of the EQS (Eradi Quake System) bearings to a short period building structure and the structure earthquake responses according to the design parameters of the EQS are studied by the ICT Center case study. The features of the EQS application to seismic isolated building structures are investigated, and the design procedure to determine the yield load and the secondary stiffness of the EQS is also studied. A computational analysis is performed to confirm the applicability of the EQS to the building structure and the earthquake responses according to the design parameters. The ICT Center in Indonesia is adopted as an application case of the EQS. The application of the EQS is found to extend the fundamental period of the ICT Center. Three types of EQS with different yield loads and secondary stiffness are designed and applied in the earthquake response analyses. The analysis results show the response of the structure with respect to the design parameters and which type of EQS is suitable for the ICT Center.

  • The p13 gene is uniquely present in Group II nucleopolyhedroviruses (NPVs) and some granuloviruses, but not in Group I NPVs. p13 gene was first described by our laboratory in Leucania separatamultiple nuclear polyhedrosis virus (Ls-p13) in 1995. However, the functions of Ls-P13 and of its homologues are unknown. When Ls-p13 was inserted into Autographa californica nucleopolyhedrovirus, a Group I NPV, polyhedra yield was inhibited. However, this inhibition was prevented when the leucine zipper-like domain of Ls-p13 was mutated. To determine the cause of this marked difference between Ls-P13 and leucine zipper mutated Ls-P13 (Ls-P13mL), oligomerization and secondary structure analyses were performed. High performance liquid chromatography and yeast two-hybrid assays indicated that neither Ls-P13 nor Ls-P13mL could form oligomers. Informatics and circular dichroism spectropolarimetry results further indicated marked secondary structural differences between Ls-P13 and Ls-P13mL. The LZLD of Ls-P13 has two extended heptad repeat units which form a hydrophobic surface, but it is short of a third hydrophobic heptad repeat unit for oligomerization. However, the mutated LZLD of Ls-P13mL lacks the above hydrophobic surface, and its secondary structure is markedly different. This difference in its secondary structure may explain why Ls-P13mL is unable to inhibit polyhedra yield.
