This study investigated the anti-amnesic effect of fermented Ganoderma lucidum water extracts (GW) on scopolamine- induced memory impairment in rats. GW were fermented by the lactic acid bacterium Bifidobacterium bifidum (FGWB), followed by Lactobacillus sakei LI033 (FGWBL). To induce amnesia, scopolamine (1 mg/kg) was intraperitoneally injected into rats 30 min before the behavioral tests. Step-through latencies of rats treated with primary fermented extracts (300 mg/kg, FGWB) and secondary fermented extracts (300 mg/kg, FGWBL) were significantly longer than those of rats treated with GW (300 mg/kg) in the retention trial of the multiple trial passive avoidance test. In the Morris water maze task, FGWBL significantly shortened escape latencies in training trials. Furthermore, swimming times within the target zone during the probe trial with FGWBL were significantly higher than the GW and FGWB treatments. In addition, acetylcholinesterase activities were lower in the brains of scopolamine-treated rats treated with FGWBL. These results suggest that FGWBL could be useful to enhance learning memory and cognitive function via cholinergic dysfunction.
The process of evaluating and selecting the best available techniques presents various characteristics for each country. In the case of EU, BAT is selected through TWG meeting after first screening, mass and energy balance, impact assessment and decision support process. Korea has proposed four principles to select BAT that can be carbon neutral for each environmental infrastructure in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. In order to evaluate and select the best available technique, it is necessary to differentiate the method according to whether it is a technique generally applied at the current workplace, whether it is a single technique or a combination technique, and whether it is a technology technique or management technique. In the case of a single technique, it should be evaluated whether it is a technique applied in the workplace, excessive cost, superior environmental technique over BAT, and secondary environmental pollution. In the case of multiple techniques, it is necessary to examine whether the emission standards are met and whether the pollutants can be treated at the same level as BAT. In the case of BAT candidates for management techniques, whether or not they contribute directly or indirectly to lowering the emission level of pollutants can be an important evaluation item. In the case of environmental techniques that are not generally applied in the workplace, it is recommended that the following 8 steps be carried out, including those prescribed by law. In the first stage, the list of performance evaluation factors is listed. In the second stage, the level of disposal of pollutants and the level of satisfaction with standards are listed. In the third stage, the environmental evaluation elements are listed. In the fourth stage, Is to list the economic evaluation elements, step 6 is to list the pollution and accident prevention evaluation factors, step 7 is the quantitative evaluation of the technical working group, and step 8 is BAT confirmation through deliberation of the central environmental policy committee.
The purpose of the current experiment was to describe interlimb coordination when swing limb conditions are being manipulated by constraining step length or by adding a 5 or 10 pound weight to the swing limb distally. Subjects were asked to begin walking with the right limb to land on the primary target (normal step length) that is 10 cm in diameter. However, if, during movement, the light was illuminated, then the subject had to step on one of the secondary targets (long and short step length). These three step length conditions were repeated while wearing a 5 pound ankle weight and then when wearing a 10 pound ankle weight. Ground reaction force (GRF) data indicated that there were changes in the forces and slopes of the swing and stance Fx GRFs. Long stepping subjects had to increase the propulsive force required to increase step length. Consequently, swing and stance toe-off greatly increased in the long step length condition. Short step length subjects had to adequately adjust step length, which decreased the speed of gait initiation. Loading the swing limb decreased the force and slope of the swing limb. Swing and stance toe-off was longest for the long step length condition, but there was a small difference of temporal events between no weight and weight condition. It appears that subjects modulated GRFs and temporal events differently to achieve the peak acceleration force of the swing and stance limb in response to different tasks. The findings from the current study provide preliminary data, which can be used to further investigate how we modulate forces during voluntary movement from a quiet stance. This information may be important if we are to use this or a similar task to evaluate gait patterns of the elderly and patient populations.
Purpose: This study examined the distribution of the body mass index (BMI) according to gender and age among Korean children and adolescents to compare the distributions of being underweight, normal, overweight, and obese using both Korean and international criteria. Methods: This secondary data analysis utilized the data of the 2016 Korean National Health Examination for School Students Height, weight, and BMI distributions among children and adolescents were analyzed using descriptive statistics, and the differences in BMI distribution according to gender and age were analyzed using chi-square tests. Differences in the mean BMI according to the Korean Centers for Disease Control (KCDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the International Obesity Task Force (IOTF) criteria were analyzed using ANOVA. Results: Using the IOTF criteria, the prevalence of underweight, overweight, and obesity among grades 1-12 students was 6.7%, 20.8%, and 7.1%, respectively; 1.6%, 21.3%, and 11.8%, respectively, according to the WHO criteria; and 5.8%, 10.1%, and 13.0%, respectively, according to the KCDC criteria. Conclusion: It is recommended to use the IOTF criteria for health promotion programs to target underweight children and adolescents while the WHO and KCDC criteria should be used for health programs for treating obese people.

And the CONSORT was introduced, which encompasses various initiatives developed by the CONSORT Group to alleviate the problems arising from inadequate reporting of randomized controlled trials (RCTs). the CONSORT has 13 guides like these: 1. How participants were allocated to interventions 2. Scientific background and explanation of rationale 3. Eligibility criteria for participants. The settings and locations where the data were collected. 4. Precise details of the interventions intended for each group and how and when they were actually administered 5. Specific objectives and hypotheses 6. Clearly defined primary and secondary outcome measures, When applicable. any methods to enhance the quality of measurements (e.g., multiple observations, training of assessors) 7. How sample size was determined. When applicable, explanation of any interim analyses and stopping rules 8. Method used to generate the random allocation sequence, Details of any restriction [of randomization] 9. Method used to implement the random allocation sequence 10. Who generated the allocation sequence, who enrolled participants. and who assigned participants to their groups 11. Whether or not participants, those administering the interventions, and those assessing the outcomes were blinded to group assignment. If done, how the success of blinding was evaluated 12. Statistical methods used to compare groups for primary outcome(s), Methods for additional analyses, such as subgroup analyses and adjusted analyses 13. Considering the complexity and difficulty on the researching, how to enhance the performance of ejector-diffuser system effectively became a significant task. In the present study, the supersonic nozzle was redesigned using Chevrons installed at the inlet of the secondary stream of the ejector-diffuser system for the purpose of the performance improvement. A CFD method based on Fluent has been applied to simulate the supersonic flows and shock waves inside the ejector. Primary numerical analysis results show that the Chevrons get a positive effect on the ejector flows. The comparison of ejector performance with and without the Chevron was obtained and optimal number of chevron lobe is discussed to increase the performance. The ejector-diffuser system performance is discussed in terms of the entrainment ratio, pressure recovery as well as total pressure loss.
Purpose: This study was carried out to investigate the difference in job satisfaction and marital satisfaction by gender and to explore the influences of demographic status. employment characteristics. and job satisfaction/marital satisfaction on each type of satisfaction. Method: Social statistics survey data collected by National Statistical Office in 1998 were used for the secondary analysis in the study. Job satisfaction was measured by questionnaires, which consisted of 12 items such as task, promotion, placement, wage, benefits, future in the work, working environment, human relationship. and working hours. And marital satisfaction was collected by questionnaires which consisted of 7 items, including satisfaction with general family life, relationship with their own parent and parent-in-law, relationship with brothers and sisters, relationship with their children, and economic living status. These are measured by 5-point Likert scale. Result: The results show that more than 60% of women were working as part-time employees. Their education levels were lower than men. Men were satisfied significantly more in their jobs than women. Men also had higher marital satisfaction. The employment status had the most important factor on the job satisfaction. and the marital satisfaction was the second important factor among women and men. As for the age, while older men showed higher job satisfaction, younger women showed higher job satisfaction, 28.04% of the variance in the job satisfaction for men and 33.86% for women were accounted for by the following variables: the younger age. the higher education. job satisfaction, and the higher marital satisfaction, 22.15% of the variance in the marital satisfaction for men and 21.19% for women were accounted for by these variables. Conclusion: The results of this study showed that there were differences in job satisfaction and marital satisfaction between genders, and that job satisfaction and marital satisfaction influenced each other. Employment status was the most predictive factor on the job satisfaction. Married women had an unstable employment status such as part-time position. The stability of employment could be considered as a strategy for enhancing job satisfaction for both sexes. The reason that women had lower marital satisfaction than men will have to be further investigated.
This essay examines the relationship between counterterrorism within the Lake Chad Basin Commission hereinafter referred to as LCBC and its effects on leaders' tenure in office. The countries of the LCBC, an intergovernmental institution promoting regional integration in the sub-region, established the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) primarily to maintain peace and security. In April 2012 the mandate of this structure was reinvigorated and broadened to manage the ongoing menace perpetrated by the Islamist terrorist group, Boko Haram in the sub-region. The political consequences, however, has not been identical for leaders of the member states of the LCBC participating in this counterterrorism operation. This essay primarily relies on secondary data derived from available public data sets in explaining this phenomenon. The phenomenon of leaders in Nigeria, Cameroon, Niger and Chad between 2010 and 2018 is used to examine the relationship between counterterrorism in the Lake Chad Basin Commission and its effects on political survival. Results suggest that leaders of highly democratic countries are more likely to lose office and held accountable for either perceived inaction or failure in the counterterrorism operation than their counterparts in autocratic states.
The purpose of this study is to identify the types of nursing organization culture recognized by hospital nurses and to confirm the relationship between these nursing organizational culture and professional quality of life. A convenience sampling method was used to collect data from 216 participants who worked in a university hospital in C city, Chungbuk province. Data were analyzed using SPSS / WIN22.0 program. The significant predictors of Compassion Satisfaction, which is a subdivision of the professional quality of life, include Innovation-oriented culture, marital status, and the relationship - oriented culture. As for secondary traumatic stress, it has the significant predictors such as age, task-oriented culture and hierarchy-oriented culture. Burnout also turns out to be affected by the predictors of relationship - oriented culture, clinical career, and hierarchy-oriented culture. Based on these results, to create a innovation-oriented culture and relation-oriented culture within the organization, it is necessary to develop an intervention program for nurses' recognition change and improvement, in addition, studies that test the clinical effects are needed. In order to secure skilled nurses with rich clinical and career abilities, the working environment and treatment should be improved at the organization level.
Purpose: This study is a comparison of spatiotemporal parameters between straight and curved walking in individuals with chronic hemiparetic stroke, investigating whether those patients can adapt their walking according to task demands and environmental changes. Methods: Twenty-eight patients who diagnosed with their first stroke at least six months prior to this study were recruited. They were measured for spatiotemporal parameters in three different walking conditions: straight walking, walking with an inner curve to the more-affected leg, and walking with an inner curve to the less-affected leg. This study also measured secondary clinical factors, such as the timed up-and-go test, the trunk impairment scale, and the dynamic gait index. The statistical methods for the three different walking conditions, using the averaged value of each condition, was repeated measures ANOVA. Results: The difference in cadence was statistically significant when comparing straight walking, walking with an inner curve to the more-affected leg, and walking with an inner curve to the less-affected leg. Swing duration (%) was also a statistically significant difference between straight walking and walking with an inner curve to the more-affected leg. However, differences in other spatiotemporal parameters were not statistically significant among the three conditions. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that stroke survivors could adapt their walking according to straight and curved walking conditions, although cadence and swing duration were different between straight and curved walking groups.
