This paper presents a new and efficient scheme to determine the optimal neutron source position in a model near-equilibrium pressurized water reactor, which is based on the OPR1000 Hanul Unit 3 Cycle 7 configuration. The proposed scheme particularly assigns importance of source positions according to the local adjoint flux distribution. In this research, detailed pin-by-pin reactor adjoint fluxes are determined by using the Monte Carlo KENO-VI code from solutions of the reactor homogeneous critical adjoint transport equations. The adjoint fluxes at each allowable source position are subsequently ranked to yield four candidate positions with the four highest adjoint fluxes. The study next simulates ex-core detector responses using the Monte Carlo MAVRIC code by assuming a neutron source is installed in one of the four candidate positions. The calculation is repeated for all positions. These detector responses are later converted into an inverse count rate ratio curve for each candidate source position. The study confirms that the optimal source position is the one with very high adjoint fluxes and detector responses, which is interestingly the original source position in the OPR1000 core, as it yields an inverse count rate ratio curve closest to the traditional 1/M line. The current work also clearly demonstrates that the proposed adjoint flux-based approach can be used to efficiently determine the optimal geometry for a neutron source and a detector in a modern pressurized water reactor core.

In this study, 1-hour integrated $PM_{2.5}$ mass and chemical composition concentrations were monitored at the St. Louis-Midwest Supersite in Illinois. Time-resolved samples were collected one week in each of June 2001 (22 June to 28 June), November 2001 (7 November to 13 November), and March 2002 (19 March to 25 March). A total of 427 samples were collected by CAMM (continuous ambient mass monitor) and 15 compounds were analyzed by AAS, PILS (particle-into-liquid sampler), and TOT (thermal optical transmittance) method. PMF was applied to identify the sources and apportion the $PM_{2.5}$ mass to each source for highly time resolved data. In addition, the nonparametric regression (NPR) was applied to identify the predominant directions of local sources relative to wind direction. Also, this study performed compare the NPR analysis and location of actual local point sources at the St. Louis area. The PMF modeling identified nine sources and the average mass was apportioned to gasoline vehicle, road dust, zinc smelter, copper production, secondary sulfate, diesel emission, secondary nitrate, iron+steel, and lead smelter, respectively. These results suggested that this study results will be help for $PM_{2.5}$ source apportionment studies at similar metropolitan area, establish $PM_{2.5}$ standard, and establish effective emissions reduction strategies in Korea.

Cooperative Communication using relays which include network separated into fixed cooperative relaying and incremental cooperative relaying defending on method receiving signal from a source. If some nodes included network is Primary user ad source and destination, another is Secondary user as relay, The nodes included network excepting source can help PU transmit signal. In the case of all of SU playing a role as relay, destination can get diversity gain, but useless time slot is consumed for transmitting signal. So in this paper, we analysis cooperative relaying which a node succeeding to sense primary signal send signal to destination. We use matlab simulation tool and consider AF, DF, fixed relaying, incremental relaying

As the high-level of the industrial and information age, the electricity become the indispensable element in the daily life including OA, FA, and computer, electric home appliances, and etc. In particular, The continuous use of the high capacity power supply system by applying a Switching Mode Power Supply(SMPS) according to the increase of the secondary side output terminal of the power load of the refrigerator of the home appliance or automation of the plant is pressed. The purpose using the way with this kind of high-capacity altogether is to supply the output voltage and output current regardless of the input voltage or to the external environmental conditions of the secondary-side load fluctuation. In this paper, a combination of a Buck Converter with Boost Converter by making a constant current source to control the inductor current and maintain stable power supply side operating characteristics, when load variations. While maintaining the same characteristics as conventional Buck Converter, and offer a DC-DC Converter system with the new switch pattern having a wide output range capable of operating in Buck-Boost Converter. In addition, after theoretical analysis, we carry out simulations and experiments to verify the validity and performance comparing with a conventional DC-to-DC converter.

A numerical study of the fluid flow and heat transfer characteristics of the two-dimensional impingement jet with a confinement plate has been carried out. The fluid flow was calculated by solving the full Navier-Stokes equation. In doing that, the well known SIMPLER algorithm was used and the trouble making convection term was discretized according to QUICKER scheme. The energy equation was simply solved by using the SOR method. For the Reynolds number of 10000, two channel heights, say 1.5 and 3.0 times the jet exit width, and two thermal boundary conditions constant wall temperature and constant wall heat flux were considered. Discrete heat sources were flush mounted along the impingement plate at a distance of 0, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 12, times the jet exit width from the stagnation point. The length of each heat source is 4 times the jet exit width long. The Nusselt number averaged over each heat source was compared with experiment. Comparison shows that both calculations and experiment have the secondary peak of Nusselt number at downstream of stagnation point, even though there is a little quantitative difference in between. The difference is believed due to abscure thermal boundary condition in experiment and also accuracy of turbulence model used. The secondary peak is shown to be caused by rigorous turbulent flow motion generated as the wall jet flow is retarded and developes into the channel flow without flow reversal.
As studies and developments of nano-material increase, the release of the nano-sized material to water environment increase. Especially, silver nanoparticles have been found as dissolved and particulate state since nano-silver particle have been intensively used in industrial and our living environment due to the anti-bacterial effect of the nano-particles. The silver nano-particles and silver ion gives adverse effect on ecology and US-EPA set a secondary drinking water standards as 0.1 mg/L. Current study focused on the analysis of silver in groundwater, small scale water supply systems in Gyeongbook area. The results have been compared with the secondary drinking water standards and discussed at the point of characteristics of the local area and purpose of use of the water sample. Among the total of 298 samples, 2 samples exceed the secondary drinking water standards of EPA, 0.64% rate. Community drinking water and simplified water service showed relatively high detection rate and groundwater gave relatively higher concentration of silver indicating anthropogenic source and natural source could contribute simultaneously on groundwater.
An immersed boundary method for solving the Navier-Stokes and thermal energy equations is developed to compute the heat transfer over or inside the complex geometries in the Cartesian or cylindrical coordinates by introducing the momentum forcing, mass source/sink, and heat source/sink. The present method is based on the finite volume approach on a staggered mesh together with a fractional step method. The method of applying the momentum forcing and mass source/sink to satisfy the no-slip condition on the body surface is explained in detail in Kim, Kim and Choi (2001, Journal of Computational Physics). In this paper, the heat source/sink is introduced on the body surface or inside the body to satisfy the iso-thermal or iso-heat-flux condition on the immersed boundary. The present method is applied to three different problems : forced convection around a circular cylinder, mixed convection around a pair of circular cylinders, and forced convection around a main cylinder with a secondary small cylinder. The results show good agreements with those obtained by previous experiments and numerical simulations, verifying the accuracy of the present method.

The concentrations of aldehydes were measured in downtown area of Buchun and Kwanghwamoon of Seoul from October 1997 to August 1998 using 2-series impingers. The data have been analysed to identify the seasonal pattern of aldehyde sources in metropolitan areas. The measured concentration (in ppbv) of aldehydes were 8.86 $\pm$ 7.28 HCHO (formaldehyde) and 7.79$\pm$7.29 $CH_3$CHO (acetaldehyde) in Buchun, while recording 10.13$\pm$8.58 (HCHO) and 7.64$\pm$6.65 ($CH_3$CHO) in Kwanghwamoon. Their diurnal variation patterns showed significant increase of HCHO and $CH_3$CHO concentration in early afternoon, indicating an increase in secondary sources. Their concentrations however decreased in the nighttime, regardless of seasons. The strength of correlations between certain pairs such as (1) HCHO and CO and (2) $CH_3$CHO and CO were generally high during the winter months (0.64< r < 0.84), suggesting the possibility of similar source processes for HCHO, $CH_3$CHO and CO. On the other hand during the summer months, their correlations are frequently lower than winter months. We suggested that the complexity of source/sink processes during the summer period may reduce the correlations between aldehyde and CO.

The utilization of unused energy is important because it can afford to offer a chance to increase energy efficiency of a heat pump system. One of the promising unused energy sources is river water. It can be used as a heat source in both heating and cooling effectively with its superior features as a secondary working fluids. In this study, the performance of a 5HP heat pump system using river water as a heat source is investigated by both experiment and simulation. According to system simulation results, performance improvement of condenser seems more effective than that of evaporator for better $COP_H$. The serial connection is also preferred among several methods to improve plate type heat exchanger performance. The experimental results show that the hot water of $50{\sim}60^{\circ}C$ can be acquired from water heat source of $5{\sim}9^{\circ}C$ with $COP_H$ of $2.7{\sim}3.5$.
LED is expected as an environmentally friendly next generation light source with its good reliability and long lifetime. The light sources for illumination have a variety of applications in the indoor and outdoor, and the variation of optical power and color rendering of the light source limits their applications. Therefore, it is necessary to research the LED lamp and its luminaire to minimize the variation of dynamic characteristics and to improve the color rendering due to that illuminating environment. Daylight is very good light source to human and can be used as primary or a secondary light source with benefits of energy, productivity and health. This paper presents the design method of LED lighting system to improve poor property in terms of CR(color redering) characteristic to use daylight effectively.
