Analysis of Effect on Seawater Flow Change and Circulation Inside Port Due to the Construction of South Breakwater and Weir at Gamcheon Port

  • In this study, numerical simulations are used to analyze the effect of the south breakwater and weir on seawater flow change and circulation within the Gamcheon port. Flow patterns in the eastern direction are particularly affected by the breakwater during the ebb tide and current velocity is slightly reduced by construction of the weir. Additionally, seawater circulation is reduced by both features. In order to increase seawater circulation, a seawater flux structure is needed on the west breakwater. A weir-type structure will be more efficient than a seawater flux culvert.

  • 주문진항의 해수교환율을 증대시킬 목적으로 기존의 해수교환방파제에 원거리 방류가 가능하도록 다기수로를 설치하였다. 원거리 방류가 가능한 해수교환시스템의 성능을 평가하기 위해서 총 4개의 CASE를 선정하여 수리모형 실험과 수치모형실험을 실시하였고, 항내수역의 해수순환 양상과 해수교환율을 비교 및 분석하였다. 실험결과 기존의 해수교환방파제(CASE 1)를 통하여 유입된 해수는 정체수역의 발생으로 전체 해수교환율이 48%로 측정되었다. 반면, 원거리 방류가 가능한 해수교환시스템은 해수순환이 원활하지 않은 정체수역까지 외해수를 전달하여 CASE 2, CASE 3, 그리고 CASE 4의 경우 전체 해수교환율은 CASE 1에 비교하여 각각 19%, 15%, 그리고 17%가 향상되었다.

선박의 연속적 접⋅이안이 항내 해수순환에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Consecutive Ship Docking and Undocking on Seawater Circulation in Harbor)

  • In this study, the model developed by Hong (2012) was modified to describe the consecutive docking/undocking situation and was also applied to investigate the effect on seawater circulation in Busan port by consecutive docking/undocking at the connecting bridge of Busan port. Numerical experiments for various docking/undocking cases were performed by dumping the initial concentration within Busan Port and indicated that the concentration in Busan port becomes steady state without numerical wiggles after sufficient time (at least 20 or 30 days). In addition, it was found that the seawater circulation under ship docking was slightly reduced in comparison with that under ship undocking, and the approach time to the target concentration under all the docking cases increased in comparison with the undocking case.

  • Using the hydraulic and numerical model of semi-enclosed bay (Chinhae Bay), the efficiencies of flow-control structures on the seawater-circulation in the inner bay were investigated. Expecially, this study was confirmed the effectiveness of the flow-control structures at the mouth and narrow channel of Chinhae Bay through the experiments. The system of flow-control structures could enhance the water exchange improvement appropriately. The results of this study can be used as the long-term and integrated environmental impact assessment model in the inner bay.

하구밀도류와 취송류가 영일만 해수유동에 미치는 영향 (Numerical Prediction of Tidal Current due to the Density and Wind-driven Current in Yeong-il Bay)

  • This study constructed a 3D real-time numerical model that predicts the water quality and movement characteristics of the inner bay, considering the characteristics of the wind-driven current and density current in estuaries, generated by the river discharge from the Hyeong-san river and oceanic water of the Eastern sea. The numerical model successfully calculated the seawater circulation current of Yeong-il Bay, using the input conditions oj the real-time tidal current, river discharge, and weather conditions during March 2001. This study also observed the wind-driven current and density current in estuaries that are effected by the seawater circulation pattern of the inner bay. We investigated and analyzed each impact factor, and its relationship to the water quality of Yeong-il bay.

  • The pressurized light water cooled, medium power (330 MWt) SMART (System-integrated Modular Advanced ReacTor) has been under development at KAERI for a dual purpose : seawater desalination and electricity generation. The SMART design verification phase was followed to conduct various separate effects tests and comprehensive integral effect tests. The high temperature / high pressure thermal-hydraulic test facility, VISTA(Experimental Verification by Integral Simulation of Transient and Accidents) has been constructed to simulate the SMART-P (the one fifth scaled pilot plant) by KAERI. Experimental tests have been performed to investigate the thermal-hydraulic dynamic characteristics of the primary and the secondary systems. Heat transfer characteristics and natural circulation performance of the PRHRS (Passive Residual Heat Removal System) of SMART-P were also investigated using the VISTA facility. The coolant flows steadily in the natural circulation loop which is composed of the steam generator (SG) primary side, the secondary system, and the PRHRS. The heat transfers through the PRHRS heat exchanger and ECT are sufficient enough to enable the natural circulation of the coolant.

Hydro-hypsographic 분석을 이용한 근소만 해수 교환 특성 연구 (A study on the flushing characteristics in Geunso bay using hydro-hypsographic analysis)

  • 만과 외해와의 해수유통은 저서환경에 영양염과 산소 공급, 오염물질 정화 등 생태계를 건강하게 만드는 중요한 요인이며, 만 내 저서환경의 건강성은 해수 교환 특성과 밀접한 관련을 갖는다. 이 연구에서는 서해안 근소만 저서환경의 해수 분포 및 유동 특성을 파악하기 위한 hydro-hypsographic 분석을 통해 수리적 교환시간을 계산함으로써 근소만의 해수유통 특성을 정량적으로 분석하였다. 위성영상 자료를 이용한 수륙경계선 추출방법과 음향측심기에 의해 획득한 조하대 수심자료를 이용하여, 연구지역의 지형고도모델을 작성하였으며, 지리정보시스템의 공간분석 기능을 이용하여 hydro-hypsographic 분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과, 근소만 전체 면적의 95%가 갯벌인 것으로 나타났으며, 수리적 교환시간은 1.03 tidal cycle로서 만의 해수 유통 특성이 우수한 것으로 나타났다. 국내외 타 지역과 비교하였을 때도, 근소만이 상대적으로 저서환경이 차지하는 면적이 넓고 조차도 국외 지역에 비해 커서 해수의 교환이 상대적으로 잘 이루어지고 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 이 연구의 결과는 국내 만들의 해수유통 특성 분석에 의해 각 만들의 건강성을 정량화 할 수 있는 체계 마련 및 만의 저서환경, 생태 등 관리를 위한 기초자료로 활용 가능할 것이다.

Three-dimensional Numerical Modelling of Seawater Circulation of Semi-enclosed Bay with the Flow-control Structures

  • The characteristics of tidal circulation with the flow-control structures using the three-dimensional numerical model (POM, Princeton Ocean Model) of Chinhae Bay, Korea were investigated. To confirm th efficiencies of flow-control structures, the training wall and submerged training wall were constructed at the mouth and narrow channel in Chinhae Bay. On the basis of the present investigation, the tidal circulation induced by the construction of flow-control structures could enhance the water exchange improvement appropriately. And, th training wall at the central is more dominated than the other structures for the efficient of water exchange. The sites and types of structure and flow patterns seem to be very sensitive in tidal simulation and changes in flow fields.

소내만의 해수교환율 (Seawater Exchange Ratio in Small Bay)

  • To understand seawater exchange are important to analyze the formation of watermass, material circulation and transfer of pollutant material etc. The purpose of this study is to review the previous studies and to propose new exchange ratio. where,$C_1$ ; average salinity of the water at low water$C_2$ ; average salinity of the water at the next low water$C_0$ ; average salinity of the water passing the bay mouth on the flood tide$V_2$ ; total water volume of the bay on the low water$V_0$ ; the volume of the remaining outer bay water entering during the flood tideSeawater exchange ratio of Dongho Bay calculated by new method are 26.1%, 23.8% respectevely.The average fresh water residence ratio calculated by equation (12) is 2.2 days, that is corresponding 23.5 % of exchange ratio. Thus, it appears similar result as proposed exchange ratio.
