The sea is origin of all lift, and 90% of the all living organisms are in the sea. The biosynthesis is very different. Many organisms are kept on a lower or developed to another evolutionary level than on shore. Our society is increasing demand and need for marine food and this food has to product at onshore or offshore fish farming sites. Ocean fish farms have a special operation properties such as a good quality water, net cage, sheltered locations and feeding system. The farming site is controlled and monitored for fish welfare as ammonia($NH_3$), temperature, the speed of a running fluid. Specially, the fish farm is seriously influenced by ammonia. In this paper, $NH_3$ monitoring system for ocean fish farm is researched for the suitable fish farming sites, and test equipment is designed for achieving practical data. The equipment wit monitoring algorithm is expected to the useful system for ocean fish farm.
Offshore-aquaculture is a new idea, has emerged as an alternative method, which can minimize the damage to the natural disaster due to the environment pollution by the fish farming activities in the coast and overcome the problems of vicious cycle in fish farming management. On the other hand, as the current fish farming laws and institutions focus on the support for offshore-aquaculture, having the limit to revitalizing and supporting the fish farming business in the open sea, it is necessary to amend the laws and institutions related to fish farm. We should be establish in connection with offshore-aquaculture, after the study aims at examining the foreign laws and institutions in such countries as USA and Norway, establishing the methods for the future laws and institutions of open sea fish farm through the analysis of the issues and controversies in the process of enactment in Korea.
This study was conducted to better understand the impact of marine fish farming by estimating mass balances of carbon and nitrogen. According to the results, 94.55% of carbon and 95.66% of nitrogen inputs were from the feed supplied in the farm. Of the total carbon emissions in the farm, 47.28% was due to fish respiration, which was subsequently released into seawater. Advection and diffusion in the farm contributed to 30.29% of the carbon released. In the case of nitrogen, 50.70% of the nitrogen released into the seawater was produced by fish excreta, and 31.37% was advected and diffused into the system. The sedimentary environment received 3.82% and 3.10% of the carbon and nitrogen released from the farm, respectively. The fish feed used for healthy growth contained 11.64% carbon and 9.17% nitrogen. Since the feed type was floating pellets, the load released into the sedimentary environment was relatively lower than that released into the marine environment. These findings suggest that the identification of an optimal fish feed that respects fish physiology and preserves a healthy ecology is critical for the future of aquaculture. Furthermore, ecosystem-based aquaculture systems that decrease environmental burden, while endeavoring to improve environmental health, are required.
This study was conducted to evaluate the laboratory formulated extruded pellet (EP) for olive flounder Paralichthys olivaceus in the East Sea. Three replicate groups of 3,200 fish per each tank (initial weight of $28.1{\pm}0.2g$) were fed one of the two EPs (EP and CEP) and Moist pellet (MP) for 16 months in a commercial farm (Pohang, Korea). Survival was not significantly affected by experimental diets (P>0.05). Weight gain and specific growth rate of fish fed the EP were not significantly different from those of fish fed the MP, but that of fish fed CEP was significantly lower than that of fish fed EP and MP (P<0.05). Feed efficiency and protein efficiency ratio of fish fed the EP was significantly higher than those of fish fed MP (P<0.05), but not significantly different from those of fish fed CEP (P>0.05). The Contents of moisture, crude protein and crude lipid in the dorsal muscle were not significantly different among all groups (P>0.05). These results clearly indicated that the laboratory formulated extruded pellet used in this study can be developed to replace the moist pellet without affecting any growth performance of olive flounder in the commercial farm feeding trail.
This study aims to estimate the Green-House-Gas emissions from domestic farmed flounder in the southern sea and Jeju-Do, where is mainly produced, by the assessment of energy consumptions and GHG emissions from domestic fish farms for establishing reduce standards of greenhouse gas from a sustainable perspective. It needs to analyze such GHG emission components as feed, electricity, fuel, fixed capital, fish respiration, and liquid oxygen in two locations by 4 stage running water type farm size of small, small and medium, large and medium, large scale. The result showed that the mean GHG emissions were $36.83kg{\cdot}CO_2/year$ in the southern sea and $24.33kg{\cdot}CO_2/year$ in Jeju-Do, respectively, in the stage of production per fish 1kg at 2 locations and farm size from domestic farmed flounders, and it will give to be useful for policy, planning, and regulation of aquaculture development with establishing GHG reduction standards.
Due to red tide and abnormal currents that take place every year, the damage of inland fish farms that takes sea water is increasing frequently. Also, the households of inland fish farm due to the increase in the cost of fuel and electricity are struggling many hardships economically. In relation to underground seawater for it's farm analyzed economic effect based on the actual conditions for 1,700 inland fish farms, from this I have deduced policy implications for direction this project to be pursued from now on. The saving rate of costs of the fuel and electricity through the development of an underground seawater were approximately analyzed to decline about 3.4~9.7%, if utilizing only about 5% of the undeveloped farms, it was estimated effect of about 61 billion won, if 10%, it was estimated effect of about 122 billion won. Consideration in selecting the developer of underground seawater will be selected an character of farm method. It is expected this study will be helpful for business analysis related government in the fisheries.
The aim of this study was to investigate the range of influence of aquaculture activities in fish cage farms located on the southern coast of Korea (Farm A and B in Hadong, Farm C in Tongyoung, and Farm D in Geoje) by analyzing the distribution and characteristics of polychaete communities. Farm A and B showed remarkably high aquaculture intensity, and as a result, the polychaete communities near the farms were heavily polluted. However, there was a difference in the polychaete communities at a distance greater than 30 m from farm A and B, which may be due to topographical differences. The effect of the aquaculture activity of Farm C was only observed below the farm, however, the influence of aquaculture activities Farm D was maintained over a relatively long distance. According to the results of this study, the effect of the fish cage culture was mainly influenced by factors related to the production of fish, such as the stocking amount and the amount of food supply. Moreover, the distance at which the influence of aquaculture activity was observed was found to be closely related to the topographical characteristics and flow velocity around the farms.
