  • The KOrea Multi-Purpose Satellite-3 (KOMPSAT-3) provides 0.7 m Ground Sample Distance (GSD) panchromatic image and 2.8 m GSD multi-spectral image data for various applications. The KOMPSAT-3 system data will be applied in the field of earth observations, covering land, sea, coastal zones, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). In order to keep the swath width of 15km at nadir view of KOMPSAT-3, CCD consist of approximately 24,020 pixels excluding 20 dark pixels at both sides and has overlap region. Because there are no CCD-line sensors with a pixel size of $7{\mu}m$, the field of view is separated into 2 parts and imaged on 2 detectors, each with 12,080 pixels. Therefore, 2 detectors have different geometric characteristic. This paper provides image simulation for geometric characteristics analysis of overlapping area of KOMPSAT-3 using KOMPSAT-2 image data.

  • There are cofferdam and watertight wall to prevent of circulation or pollution during building of ocean structures like a dam and bridge in the harbors area and the sea. Inflow fluid and base of structure is important thing as one of the structural design factors for this interception wall like a cofferdam and watertight wall. In this study, it is revealed that at least 500 instantaneous velocity field data are required for ensemble average to get reliable turbulence statistics. The turbulent shear flow around a surface-mounted vertical wall was investigated by using the two-frame PIV(CACTUS 3.1) system and Mean velocity distributions have also been measured in the whole flow field.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate and analyze the relationships between tidal cycles, surface landforms, and sediments of tidal flats and their resident life. The study areas are Uengdo Ri in the Garolim Bay with wide the mud flat, Doou Ri in the Youngwang tidal flat which is developed sand flat and salt field, and Gomso Bay which is developed aquaculture industry. For resident around tidal flats, sea working takes precedence over farming, and main earnings gets from tidal flats. Resident life around the tidal flats is deeply related to tidal cycles, and low water level of spring tide becomes, they are most active and get more earnings than usual day, so it seems to be periodic markets. It is usually developed shellfish aquafarms in the mud flat, the stow net fishery in the sand flat, and salt fields in the mixed flat near the coast. Also a tidal flat has specialization of economic activity, and is divided into salt field and fish-farming in the supratidal zone, shellfish aquafarm in the intertidal zone, and oyster and porphyra culture in the subtidal zone.

  • Rock physics serves as a useful tool for seismic reservoir characterization and monitoring by providing quantitative relationships between rock properties and seismic data. Rock physics models can predict effective moduli for reservoirs with different mineral components and pore fluids from well-log data. The distribution of reservoirs and fluids for the entire seismic volume can also be estimated from rock physics models. The first part of this report discusses the Voigt, Reuss, and Hashin-Shtrikman bounds for effective elastic moduli and the Gassmann fluid substitution. The second part reviews various contact models for moderate- to high-porosity sands. In the third part, constant-cement model, known to work well for the sand that gradually loses porosity with deteriorating sorting, was applied to the well-log data from an oil field in the North Sea. Lastly, the rock physics template constructed from the constant-cement model and the results from the prestack inversion of 2D seismic data were combined to predict the lithology and fluid types for the sand reservoir of this oil field.

  • As life quality have grown today, People have been greatly interested in health. Moreover, new knowledge and concepts are being applied in the medical facility field and that makes the field expand constantly. Hereby, this research is a study on design elements of dental clinics and the research goals are to understand interior design of current dental clinics by investigation and analysis on furniture, closing materials, colors and so on, and to investigate esthetic and functional environments for dental clinics through analyzing upcoming trends of inner spaces of dental clinics. The investigation was conducted by visits to four clinics per each research area, where are in Busan area and opened after year 2000 and are located in Seoul and Busan. Though the spaces of dental clinics vary according to the characteristics of each clinic, it generally has a consultation room, a waiting room and an X-ray room. The closing materials that make patients feel at ease are used in the waiting room, and ones that make patients feel tidy and fresh are used in consultation spaces, spare spaces, and management spaces. In Seoul area, antique and harmonic colors are used, and modernistic colors are used in Busan area. Reception desks, chair units, sofas and sink storage shelfs are the common furniture in the clinic. We have learned what are mentioned above by research and investigation on the component characteristics of dental clinic spaces. Based on these, more systematical and in-depth research should be continued.

  • History will be defined as a science on human beings in both space and time(des hommes dans le temps et l'espace). Navigational History is a premise to compose Maritime History. Maritime History is a branch of General History which is classified on the basis of space and will be definded as a branch of history to examine 'inter-realtions between maritime affairs and inland affairs'. Then, what kind of 'go by sea'can be a subject of Navigational History ? A research-subject of Navigational History must be navigation rather than sail or voyage. Because while 'sail' means to 'passive and noncommercial sailing' and voyage means to journeyin a general sense that includes sail and navigation, navigation means to indicate ' to go from one place to another in a ship' adn 'to convoy goods by water'. Then, how can we define Navigation History? Navigational History in a narrow sense is to be a field of studying 'process of development of nautical science and seamanship on the side of History ofScience and Techique, whereas Navigational History in a broad sense is to be a field of analyzing 'effects of historical navigation upon history on the side of General History. On studying Navigational History in a narrow sense, there are signifiacances of disclosing what the development of nautical instruments and arts of navigation have played a role in history. Navigational History in a broad sense is a branch of General History to study effects of historical navigation upon history. In conclusion, the significance of studying Navigation History is to disclose process of developmentof arts of navigation, and on the basis of this study is to reveal how the human elements operate in historical navigation. In short, it should not cease to study Navigational History in a narrow sense, and should enlarge its perspective of research toward Navigational History in a broad sense.

  • For the efficient use of the insufficient frequency resources, a precise prediction of field strength based on various propagation environments should be set up to design of radio stations with reliable transmit power and service coverage. Therefore, many countries have tried to secure the propagation models suitable for their each geographical environments, and also, some models like BCAST were developed by Korea, but these models give the different results compared to measured values. In this paper, based on the measurements of DTV broadcasting services in domestic rural area, analysis and comparison of ITU-R P.1546 and BCAST models provide errors between measured and predicted values, and some points for improving SMI system has been proposed. As a result, P.1546 model provides the valid predicted data similar to measured data, but BCAST model has some problems of large deviation and higher prediction to measured data. In future, these problems and fading loss due to a forest or group of trees, and reflection loss due to a lake or sea need to be studied carefully.

  • A small millimeter-wave tracking radar is a pulse-based radar that searches, detects, and tracks a target in real time through a TWS (Track While Scan) method for a traps target on the sea with a large RCS running at low speed. It is necessary to develop a board equipped with a high-speed CPU to acquire and track target information through LPRF, DBS, and HRR signal processing techniques for a trap target operating various kinds of dexterous objects such as chaff and decoy, We designed a signal processor structure including DFT (Discrete Fourier Transform) module design that can perform real - time FFT operation using FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) and verified the signal processor implemented through performance test.

  • Present study aims at the development of a reasonable boundary condition for a structure over inclined seabed in case of the numerical model with quadrilateral mesh system. The technique for the inclined impermeable/permeable boundary in the quadrilateral mesh is newly proposed. The new technique and LES-WASS-3D model (Hur and Lee, 2007) have been used for the investigation of the dynamics of fluid field, and validated through the comparison with a typical stair-type boundary condition. 3-Dimensional numerical model with Large Eddy Simulation is called LES-WASS-3D, and is able to simulate directly interaction of WAve Structure Sea bed/Sandy beach.

  • In this paper, Annual flux variations in the Boseong Tall Tower (BTT) from 2016 to 2020 were analyzed using data from three levels (2.5 m, 60 m, and 300 m). BTT was installed in Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do in February 2014 and continued to conduct energy exchange observations such as CO2, sensible heat, and latent heat using the eddy covariance method until March 2023. The BTT was located in a very flat and uniform paddy field, and flux observations were conducted at four levels: 2.5 m, 60 m, 140 m, and 300 m above ground. Surface energy balance was confirmed from observed data of net radiation flux, soil heat flux, sensible heat flux, and latent heat flux. Additionally, 2.5 m height surface fluxes, which are most influenced by agricultural land, were compared with data from Local Data Assimilation and Prediction System (LDAPS) of the Korea Meteorological Administration to evaluate the accuracy of LDAPS flux data. The correlation coefficient between LDAPS flux data and observed values was 0.95 or higher. Excluding summer latent heat flux data, there was a general tendency for LDAPS data to be higher than observed values. The footprint areas estimated below 60 m height mainly covered agricultural land, and flux observations at 2.5 m and 60 m heights showed typical agricultural characteristics. In contrast, the footprint estimated at 300 m height did not show agricultural characteristics, indicating that observations at this height encompassed a wide range, including mountains, sea, and roads. The analysis results of long-term flux observations can contribute to understanding the energy and carbon dioxide fluxes in agricultural fields. Furthermore, these results can be utilized as essential data for validating and improving numerical models related to such fluxes.
