  • This study quantitatively analyzed the effects of self-efficacy in the workplace on job-stress and work-life balance (WLB) using a structural equation model (SEM) to seek ways to increase the WLB. Because the current government promotes the 52-hour weekly policy, WLB that refers to the balance between work and life that is used throughout society. In addition, self-efficacy, which was used mainly in the home and education system, has expanded its scope of application, and efforts to increase it in the workplace are working as demand for the times. The observation variables to be included in the SEM were collected from a questionnaire of 5,454 adults, and AMOS 21 was used for statistical analysis. As a result of the analysis, self-efficacy in the workplace has a negative correlation with stress, and a higher self-efficacy means a higher WLB. The results of this study did not show that the more workers are passionate about their work in the workplace due to work-oriented thinking and behavior rather than home had a lower WLB. In addition, these results can be used to analyze the WLB policy in the ROK Army.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of action observation training (AOT) on the balance and cognition of the elderly with dementia. Methods: Twenty-four participants were randomly assigned to experimental and control groups (12 participants each). The 5-week intervention involved 45 minutes sessions, three times a week. Both groups did 30 minutes of general physical exercises, followed by the experimental group watching a 5 minutes video featuring functional movements and imitating them for 10 minutes. The control group watched a scenic video and did functional training for 10 minutes, mimicking the experimental group. All participants were evaluated using the Timed Up and Go (TUG) test, Functional Reaching Test (FRT), Berg's Balance Scale (BBS), and Korean version of Mini-Mental State Examination (K-MMSE) before and after the intervention. A paired t-test was conducted to compare the within-group change before and after the intervention. Two-way repeated measures ANOVA was performed to compare the between-group difference. The statistical significance level was set to p=0.05 for all variables. Results: The experimental group showed significant within-group changes in the TUG test, FRT, BBS, and K-MMSE (p<0.05). The control group showed a significant change in FRT and K-MMSE (p<0.05). A significant difference was observed between the experimental group and the control group regarding the change in the TUG test, BBS, and K-MMSE after the interventions (p<0.05). Conclusion: The findings of this study suggest that the AOT and repetition of actual movements, led to more significant improvements in balance and cognitive abilities compared to the control group that observed scenic landscapes.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effects of therapeutic climbing training on postural alignment and balance of normal adults and to suggest possibilities for clinical intervention. The study investigated 30 normal adults who were randomly assigned to either a training group or a control group (n= 15 each). The training group performed climbing training on the climbing wall three times a week for 6 weeks for a total of 40 minutes, while the control group did not perform any training. Biorecue was used to evaluate balance ability, while formetric was used for evaluation of postural alignment. The results showed that there was a significant difference in body slope between the groups in posture alignment (p<.05), as well as in balance ability (p<.05) and time and group interaction (p<.05). In this study, climbing training affected the posture alignment of normal adults, increased the left and right torso tilt and positively affected balance ability. Therefore, these findings confirm that training using climbing is valuable for rehabilitation and clinical application intervention of the general public and patients.

  • The study attempted to systematically and comprehensively analyze individual studies in which proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) was performed with chronic stroke patients. Selection criteria included type of participants (stroke patients), intervention (PNF), comparison (intervention group or non-intervention group), outcomes (effect on dynamic balance), and study design (randomized controlled trial). We searched seven literature databases, and selected 17 papers that met our selection criteria. For meta-analysis, effect size of each individual study was extracted using the R project for Statistical computing version 4.0.3. Rob 2.0 tool, developed by the Cochrane group, was used to evaluate the quality of each individual study. The overall effect size PNF with dynamic balance was 0.59 (95% CI=0.41-1.77), which was significantly different than the median effect size (p<0.05). The sub-group for dynamic balance was analyzed, for effect sizes of BBS (0.50), TUG (0.78), and FRT (0.51). Thus, PNF intervention has a positive impact on improve of dynamic balance by chronic stroke patients.

  • Sucrose esters were synthesized by transesterification of sucrose with docosahexaenoic acid ethylester mixture (DHAEE). Potassium carbonate as a base catalyst was used in the presence of dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) for the reactions. The reactions were performed with the different reaction times and molar ratios of substrates in the presence of surfactant in vacuum. Among the reaction conditions in this study, SE#4~7 showed the relatively high conversion rate (>96%) of DHAEE, leading to the high yield of sucrose esters. In addition, the product composition was changed from sucrose mono ester to di/tri/polyesters after the prolonged reaction time while the increased molar ratio of DHAEE also resulted in the composition changes of sucrose mono ester to the sucrose di/tri/polyesters. From the reaction (SE#7), conversion ratio was 98.5% in which 87.3% mono ester and 13.7% di/tri/polyester were found, resulting in the highest content of mono ester. Therefore, the sucrose ester containing various rates of mono and di/tri/polyesters, which effects on hydrophilic lipophilic balance (HLB) values, can be manipulatively synthesized using the reaction conditions reported in this study.

  • This paper presents a new algorithm about motion adjustment for dynamic balance. It adjusts an unbalanced motion to an balanced motion while preserving the nuance of original motion. We solve dynamic balancing problem using the zero moment point (ZMP) which is often used for controlling the balance of biped robot. Our algorithm is consists of four steps. First, it fits joint angle data to spline curves for reducing noise. Second, the algorithm analyzes the ZMP trajectory so that it can detects the dynamically-unbalanced duration. Third, the algorithm project the ZMP trajectory into the supporting area if the trajectory deviates from the area. Finally, the algorithm produces the balanced motion that satisfies the new ZMP trajectory. In this step, the constrained optimization method is used so that the new motion keeps the original motion characteristics as much as possible. We make several experiments in order to prove that our algorithm is useful to add physical realism to a kinematically edited motion.

  • Super-duplex stainless steels (SDSS) have a good balance of mechanical property and corrosion resistance when they consist of approximately equal amount of austenite and ferrite. The SDSS needs to avoid the detrimental phases such as sigma(${\sigma}$), chi(${\chi}$), secondary austenite(${\gamma}2$), chromium carbide & nitride and to maintain the ratio of ferrite & austenite phase as well known. However, the effects of the subsequent weld thermal cycle were seldom experimentally studied on the micro-structural variation of weldment & pitting corrosion property. Therefore, the present study investigated the effect of the subsequent thermal cycle on the change of weld microstructure and pitting corrosion property at $40^{\circ}C$. The thermal history of root side was measured experimentally and the change of microstructure of weld root & the weight loss by pitting corrosion test were observed as a function of the thermal cycle of each weld layer. The ferrite contents of root weld were reduced with the subsequent weld thermal cycles. The pitting corrosion was occurred in the weld root region in case of the all pitted specimen & in the middle weld layer in some cases. And the weight loss by pitting corrosion was increased in proportional to the time exposed at high temperature of the root weld and also by the decrease of ferrite content. The subsequent weld thermal cycles destroy the phase balance of ferrite & austenite at the root weld. Conclusively, It is thought that as the more subsequent welds were added, the more the phase balance of ferrite & austenite was deviated from equality, therefore the pitting corrosion property was deteriorated by galvanic effect of the two phases and the increase of 2nd phases & grain boundary energy.
