Markov Decision Process-based Potential Field Technique for UAV Planning

  • This study proposes a methodology for mission/path planning of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) using an artificial potential field with the Markov Decision Process (MDP). The planning problem is formulated as an MDP. A low-resolution solution of the MDP is obtained and used to define an artificial potential field, which provides a continuous UAV mission plan. A numerical case study is conducted to demonstrate the validity of the proposed technique.

  • Hierarchical IPP (Integrated Path Planning) combining the GPP (Global Path Planner) and the LPP (Local Path Planner) is interesting the researches who study about the mobile vehicle in recent years. However, in this study, there is the path mismatch problem caused by the difference in the map information available to both path planners. If ever a part of the path that was found by the GPP is available to mobile vehicle, the part may be unavailable when the mobile vehicle generates the local path with its built-in sensors while the vehicle moves. This paper proposed the TWR (Temporal Waypoint Reviser) to solve the path mismatch problem of the hierarchical IPP. The results of simulation provide the performance of the IPP with the TWR by comparing with other path planners.

  • Multi-day trip itinerary planning is complex and time consuming task, from selecting a list of worth visiting POIs to arranging them into an itinerary with various constraints and requirements. In this paper, we present CYTRIP, a multi-day trip itinerary planning system that engages human computation (i.e. crowd recommendation) to collaboratively recommend POIs by providing a shared workspace. CYTRIP takes input the collective intelligence of crowd (i.e. recommended POIs) to build a multi-day trip itinerary taking into account user's preferences, various time constraints and locations. Furthermore, we explain how we engage crowd in our system. The planning problem and domain are formulated as AI planning using PDDL3. The preliminary empirical experiments show that our domain formulation is applicable to both single-day and multi-day trip planning.

한국 농촌의 기능 변화: 식량공급에서 국가균형발전으로 (The Functional Change of Rural Society in Korea: from Food Supply to Balanced Development)

  • The major purposes of this paper are (1) to explore korean rural planning as subplanning of nation planning and regional planning, (2) to explore functional change of korean rural areas, (3) and suggest appropriate policy for functional change of rural society in Korea. I divided korean rural planning into five periods according to its paradigm shift. In the first period of rural planning lay emphasis on food self-supply, antipoverty and improvement of living condition. In the second period of rural planning lay emphasis on food self-supply, green revolution and income gap mitigation between urban and rural areas. In the third period of rural planning lay emphasis on integrated rural development. In the fourth period of rural planning lay emphasis on multifunctionality of agriculture. In the fifth period of rural planning Korea government announced a new policy and lay emphasis on balanced national development. Food supply used to be most important function of rural areas, but it is weakened in recent days. The role as axis for balanced national development become another important function of rural areas.

그래프 데이터베이스 기반 자동 PDDL Planning 시스템 (Automated PDDL Planning System using Graph Database)

  • 유연한 planning system은 로봇이 다양한 임무를 수행하기 위해서 중요한 요소이다. 본 논문에서는 변화하는 환경에 대응할 수 있는 automated planning system architecture를 소개한다. 심볼릭 기반의 task planning을 위해 PDDL을 활용하였으며 실시간 환경 정보 업데이트를 위해 그래프 데이터베이스를 이용한다. 제안한 구조는 시나리오 기반 실험을 통해 검증하였다.

A study on urban planning between Buyeo and Kyoto in terms of the interrelationship over the history

  • Due to the strong relationship between Baekje, one of the ancient Korean Kingdom and Japan through the same religion, Buddhism, it is possible to find many similarities in remains, such as temples, and pagodas, and in many relics, in both cities. However, from the point view of urban planning, Buyeo, originally designed as the fortress city, has a different city planning strategies from that of Kyoto which is a straight-lined city. After Buyeo was destroyed by Silla, one of the Three Kingdoms in Korea, it got deemphasized in Korean history. Later, Buyeo's recent city planning was directly affected and implanted in Japanese Imperialism period (1910-1945) one which emphasizes the layout of Japanese temple which serves as the center of the ceremonies for their ancestors. Thus, it is possible to find cultural interrelation in urban planning between two cities throughout the history of Korea and Japan.

비용, 일정 및 기술적 성과를 고려한 통합 계획수립 프로세스 구현 방안 (Integrated Planning Process Implementation Method Based on the Cost, Schedule, and Technical Performance)

  • The purpose of the research is to propose an integrated project planning process and its implementation method. Although there is increasing interest in the application of the Earned Value Management(EVM) method in the project management area, the progress and maturity of the technical performance have not been included in assessing the Earned Value. The main concept of the planning process is to use cost, schedule, as well as the technical performance in the assessment of the Earned Value Management for Military R&D project management practices. The resulting process can enhance the efficiency of the project work by eliminating the currently duplicated activities between traditional project planning process and the newly implemented Earned Value Management process and by shortening the early planning process duration of projects adopting EVM practices.

  • 특허와 같은 지적재산권, 과학데이터와 같은 1차 정보 등의 산업기술정보에 대한 동향 및 발전방향에 대한 명확한 분석을 기반으로 실질적인 R&D 과제기획에서 산업기술정보의 활용은 R&D 과제에 투여되는 예산 및 기회비용의 절감을 위한 중요한 기반이 될 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 연구개발기획과정에서 산업기술정보의 수집 및 분석의 중요성에 대해 알아보고 이를 활용하는 방안에 대해 알아보고자 한다. 이를 위해 먼저 기획의 정의 및 필요성을 알아보고, 연구과제 기획을 위한 산업기술정보 유형에 대해 알아보고자 한다. 다음으로 연구개발 기획과정에서 이러한 산업기술정보 활용의 중요성에 대해 분석하고, 이를 이용해 성공한 국내외 사례에 대해 알아보고자 한다. 마지막으로 연구기획을 위해 활용되는 산업기술정보 분석기법을 분석하고, 연구기획을 위해 도서관이 할 수 있는 역할에 대해 제안하고자 한다.

Ontology-based Safety Risk Interactions Analysis for Supporting Pre-task Planning

  • The construction industry remains serious accidents, injuries, and fatalities due to it's unique, dynamic, and temporary nature. On workplace sites, Safety pre-task planning is one of the efforts to minimize injuries and help construction personnel to identify potential hazards. However, the working conditions are complicated. Many activities, including tasks or job steps, are executing at the same time and place. It may lead to an increase in the risks from simultaneous tasks. This paper contributes to addressing this issue by introducing a safety risk interaction analyzing framework. To accomplish this objective, accident reports of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) are investigated. The pairs of task incompatibility, which have time-space conflicts and lead to incidents, are found. Ontology technology is applied to build the risk database, in which the information is acquired, structuralized. The proposed system is expected to improve pre-task planning efficiency and relieve the burdens encountered by safety managers. A user scenario is also discussed to demonstrate how the ontology supports pre-task planning in practice.

농촌경관계획수립 기준 정립 연구 (A Study for Rural Landscape Planning Criteria)

  • The purpose of this study is to propose the rural landscape planning criteria for Korean rural area. For this, the meaning of rural landscape is defined, and the legislative framework and several legal processes are surveyed, including the deliberation system for natural landscape impacts and the Landscape Law recently legislated. Through literature studies and analysis, the rural landscape planning criteria are proposed, which have step-by-step processes; goals and objectives, analysis and estimation for present conditions, basic planning concept, landscape planning for different visual landscape types, landscape designing for visual elements, and practical action plans. Each processes are designed considering the existing legislative framework, so it can be well-matched to current systems. But, because there are few rural landscape plans so far, comparing to the urban landscape plans, the validity of this criteria should be verified in the future studies.
