  • Because of the wide scale in EC area, the use of Electronic Commerce spreads out quickly. This paper proposes the curriculum applied to the department of EC in University reflecting the recent social trend. EC has some relations with the several areas like Computer Science & Engineering, Management and Industrial Engineering etc. after analyzing the domestic curriculums, we propose the propriate curriculums and academic classification standard. Also according to the standard, We want to propose the separate curriculums to three important majors and describe the introduction to each major.

  • In this paper, we examined informatics textbooks for middle school students in accordance with 2009 revised curriculum through conducting both content analysis and surveys. The content analysis was analyzed the composition and contents of textbooks. Survey questionnaires were based on the authorization criteria and selection standards of informatics textbooks. The content analysis demonstrated that there were discrepancies among textbooks in areas such as the total number of pages, related material, the number of core concepts introduced in each chapter, and the application of software. The survey results showed that two sections - 'Expression and Modification' and 'Text' exhibited the most positive results, and the 'Creativity' section the least. Using the findings above, we present alternative ways to improve qualities of these textbooks.

  • Laboratory class is an integral part of biomedical engineering education. Current biomedical engineering curriculum in Korea mostly includes mandatory laboratory classes. Most of the Korean biomedical laboratory classes focus on electrical engineering aspects, while molecular/biological engineering aspects are neglected. Many leading universities in U.S.A. offer a more balanced laboratory class where both electrical engineering aspects and molecular/biological engineering aspects are considered. As a part of an effort to enhance undergraduate biomedical engineering education, a new biomedical engineering laboratory class is proposed to offer a more balanced laboratory learning experience.

  • In the rapidly changing field of Management Information Systems, the definition and educational programs must be continually reevaluated and revised. A study was conducted to find a way to which the modeling principle is applied for redefining the identity of Management Information Systems as an independent academic field and to develop a plausible MIS curriculum based on the modeling principle. Previous researches on the MIS frameworks, knowledge and technology requirements for IS professionals, and standard MIS curriculums were reviewed thoroughly. For this study, the Kantian cognitive model was adopted as a basis of modeling principle. The result shows that modeling ability has been the core competence of IS people in the field of MIS. The applicability of a modeling principle is also verified in establishing the identity of MIS and developing a normative MIS curriculum. For the MIS field to thrive as an independent academic field and research discipline, it is believed to be imperative for the discipline to have a unique educational goals distinguished from both other management areas, and sub-fields of computer science.

  • Nanotechnology is one of the leading edges of science and technology today, holding out the promise for revolutionary advances in just about any discipline. With the integration of nanoscale concepts into K-12 STEM education comes a special opportunity pertaining to the cultivation of future innovators and scientists who are more adept at traveling in this burgeoning field. It discusses some strategies and frameworks for effectively bringing nanotechnology into the K-12 curriculum. Hands-on activities, interdisciplinary approaches, and age-appropriate educational materials have been used with an emphasis on improving student engagement and enhancing understanding in nanoscale phenomena. Thus, early exposure to the principles of nanotechnology can be effectively used by teachers to develop curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, which are necessary for technological advancement. These results highlight the potential of nanotechnology education integration in the development of future STEM professionals. It results in an increase in the enrollment rate. Hence, this proves that there is a lasting impact of the intervention on the choice that students made while in school.

  • In this study, the readability of the texts in the third and the sixth grade science textbooks developed under the 2007 revised science curriculum were analyzed in terms of word and sentence units. In the word unit analyses, the levels of the words in the texts were classified into four categories, 1st to 4th levels. In the sentence unit analyses, the sentences in the texts were classified either a simple sentence or compound/complex sentences, and the average length of the sentences was also calculated. The results indicated that more than 90 percents of the words in the 2007 revised science textbooks were classified as the 1st to the 3rd levels. However, both the kinds and the frequencies of the words in the 2007 revised science textbooks were increased in comparison of those in the 7th science textbooks. In particular, it was found that the increasement in the 3rd grade science textbook was noticeable. The ratio of the compound/complex sentences in the 2007 revised science textbooks were increased in comparison of those in the 7th science textbooks. The average length of the sentences in the 2007 revised science textbooks was also increased.

  • Since the term, 'scientific literacy' was introduced by P. D. Hurd in 1958, it has been used as a term, representing major goals in science education. In Korea, the term 'scientific literacy' was used in the statement of the summative objective of the 2007 science reformed curriculum. But in various educational contexts m which teachers and researchers works, the definition of the term has not been used consistently. This phenomena would be interpreted as showing limits of the term describing the goals of science education. This study examined the historical change in the meaning of the term in purpose of trying to anchor the definition. In this study, the changing period was divided into before introducing the term and after. The after era was divided into the period of confusing and anchoring in the meaning, and the period of expanding the meaning. Especially, after science as intellectual ability was conceptualized in science education communities, the meaning of scientific literacy was partially confused. In current time, as the concepts of language in cognitive science influenced the use of language in science education, the trends of expending the meaning of scientific literacy has been grasped in science education community.

  • Secondary schools in Korea have been faced with several critical problems in their science education. Among them the most fundamental are the problems which involve the development and operation of science curricula. This study had, therefore, its objective to develop the suggestions for sabstantial science curricula of secondary schools. Actually the objectives are trifold as following specific description. ${\circ}$Analysis of the rationale and theory of science curricula. ${\circ}$Status survey of secondary science curricula and identification of the problems in development and operation of the curriculum in foreign and Korean secondary schools. ${\circ}$Development of suggestions for substantial science curriculam of secondary school. In order to attain these objectives the methods of literauare survey. questionaire and interview were used. Through these methods several problems are found and identified. The major findings and problems identified in this study are: ${\circ}$aims, goals, and objectives of science education are not dfferentiated. ${\circ}$the curricula show discipline-centered seleetion and organization of the content:neglect the relationship of science-technology-society and life-world context. ${\circ}$shortage of weekly instructional hours for science subjects. Other findings and problems are described and the descriptions of the suggestions for substantial curricula are followed at the end of this paper.

  • The study reported here is a part of the Korean Science Education Database (SEDB) project, a long-term effort to improve science education by providing educational information to science educators. The purpose of the SEDB project is to improve access to science resources available to teachers, students, parents, and others. Three educational database have been investigated and discussed in depth. The Educational Resources Information Center (ERIC) that is the largest education database in the world and the Eisenhower National Clearinghouse for Mathematics and Science Education (ENC) that is creating an easy-to-use catalog of mathematics and science curriculum materials have been investigated on the aspect of system and operation. The pilot form of the SEDB developed in this study has committed itself to reaching audiences that include practitioners and policymakers. The SEDB should be a collection of the most up-to-date and comprehensive listing of science curriculum materials in the nation, because educators need better access to the best instructional materials and programs to continually improve science education our nation's science. The researchers recommend the practical tips for developing an effective science education database.
