  • Nano communication system technologies are future core technologies that facilitate the implementation of tiny wireless communication systems with sizes in the range of hundreds of nanometers to tens of micrometers, which cannot be implemented by current wireless communication system technologies. In particular, novel nano communication system technology, which is based on electrical and mechanical resonance characteristics of carbon nanotube(: CNT), does not simply miniaturize system modules, but suggests a new approach that changes system architectures. Therefore, this paper surveys the state of the art on CNT-based nano communication technologies in aspects of system implementation, and proposes important research issues for convergence of nano and communication technologies.

  • The frequent occurrence of overwhelming disasters necessitates risk communication systems capable of operating effectively in disaster contexts. Few studies have examined risk communication networks during disasters through social networking services (SNS). This study therefore investigates the patterns of risk communication by comparing Korean and international networks based on the social amplification of risk communication in the context of the Sewol ferry disaster (SFD). In addition, differences in language use and patterns between Korean and international contexts are identified through a semantic analysis using KrKwick, NodeXL, and UCINET. The SFD refers to the sinking of the ferry while carrying 476 people, mostly secondary school students. The results for interpersonal risk communication reveal that the structure of the Korean risk communication network differed from that of the international network. The Korean network was more fragmented, and its clustering was more sparsely knitted based on the impact and physical proximity of the disaster. Semantic networks imply that the physical distance from the disaster affected the content of risk communication, as well as the network pattern.

  • In this paper, the design of a channel filter and its group-delay-and-amplitude equalizer is carried out for the Ka-band satellite transponder subsystem. The 8th order dual-mode filter is employed for high selectivity around the band-edges with an elliptic-integral function response and has an in-line configuration. The 2-pole, reflection-type, group-delay equalizer is designed and manufactured to reduce the group-delay and amplitude variation, which can be large for such a high order filter. It is noted that in both the filter and equalizer, adopting the dual-mode coupling mechanism leads to less mass and volume. Through measurement, the performance of the realized group-delay-equalized filter is shown to meet the equipment requirements and to be appropriate for the satellite input multiplexer.

  • In this paper, the EM wave absorber for ETC system was designed and fabricated. We fabricated several samples in different composition ratios of flaked sendust and CPE(Chlorinated Polyethylene). Absorption abilities were simulated in accordance with different thicknesses of the prepared absorbers and changed complex relative permittivity and permeability according to composition ratio. The optimized mixing ratio of flaked sendust and CPE was found as 60 : 40 wt.% by experiments and simulation. Then the EM wave absorber was fabricated and tested using the simulated data. As a result, the developed EM wave absorber has the thickness of 2.75 mm and absorption ability was 22.5 dB in the case of normal incidence at 5.8 GHz. Therefore, it was confirmed that the newly developed absorber can be used for ETC system.

  • In this paper, we present a quasi-Jacket block matrices over binary matrices which all are belong to a class of cocyclic matrices is the same as the Hadamard case and are useful in digital signal processing, CDMA, and coded modulation. Based on circular permutation matrix(CPM) cocyclic quasi block low-density matrix is introduced in this paper which is useful in coding theory. Additionally, we show that the fast algorithm of quasi-Jacket block matrix.
