Grid is a new Information Technology (IT) concept of "super Internet" for high-performance computing: worldwide collections of high-end resources such as supercomputers, storage, advanced instruments and immerse environments. The Grid is expected to bring together geographically and organizationally dispersed computational resources, such as CPUs, storage systems, communication systems, real-time data sources and instruments, and human collaborators. The term "the Grid" was coined in the mid1990s to denote a proposed distributed computing infrastructure for advanced science and engineering. The term computational Grids refers to infrastructures aimed at allowing users to access and/or aggregate potentially large numbers of powerful and sophisticated resources. More formally, Grids are defined as infrastructure allowing flexible, secure, and coordinated resource sharing among dynamic collections of individuals, institutions and resources referred to as virtual Organizations. GRID is an emerging IT as a kind of next generation Internet technology which will fit very well with agrometeorological services in the future. I believe that it would contribute to the resource sharing in agrometeorology by providing super computing power, virtual storage, and efficient data exchanges, especially for developing countries that are suffering from the lack of resources for their agmet services at national level. Thus, the establishment of CAgM-GRID based on existing RADMINSII is proposed as a part of FWIS of WMO.part of FWIS of WMO.
If we look at Korea's urbanization since 1960, only the urban communities like buildings have developed, yet the resting places for human itself have been ignored. Many people continuously felt alienated especially after the mechanization and started to demand for better living space. For that reason, it is essential for us to develop the resting places for human among the buildings in urban areas and these resting places could form the basis of new community. We have researched on street furniture and citizen's behavior pattern in resting places through references and internet surfing to propose a design concept for a new resting place and street furniture, Therefore, we would like to design a resting place in urban area considering human, community and environment. As a result, we have designed a resting place where citizens could interact with surrounding environment and let office workers enjoy the nature among the buildings in this resting place. People could always stop by and take some rose by enjoying the surrounding nature. The resting place consists of 5 zones- public square, environmental zone, communication zone, technology zone, and entertainment zone. Each zone has its own design motif to lead systematic street furniture and site planning. The resting place is formed in a specific region which is a prototype of a resting environment in urban areas in the future and it could be reassigned according to its regional condition.

These days, the products like Walkman, mobile phone, notebook PC, PDA are moving together with our body, and in the imaginary world like internet, our other self, Avatar is moving in place of our body on the cyber world. These products are related with our human body, and when considering the ones, attached to the human body, and having the meaning of mental combination like these, as the combination of the human and the products, it is necessary to examine these products in approaching them with respect to the combination relation between the human and the products. As a result of examining we can understand that the products, said to combine with the human body, are coming oui steadily. and recently, the inclination on the combination and the movement appears strongly. As this background, there are a breakdown of dichotomy thought, mixed sexual imitation, cyber culture, techno culture. concept of informative nomands, phenomenon which the division of human and machine becomes vague. and the miniaturization of products. imitation of human, phenomenon that the Inclination on the combination with human is more accelerated by networking. These products combine with human body at each wearing type in the various forms. This paper deals with a teaching method in EMI(English Medium Instructor) Education for engineering major subjects which is accomplished between non-native english speaking professors and students. Goals of EMI in non-english speaking countries will be both a improvement of communication ability and understanding of the major subjects. However, when students who have a low level-english ability participate in english class, it is necessary to analyze whether they can obtain above goals or not and to study on a teaching method for them. The english classes were aimed at students at the college of engineering who have 200-420 TOEIC average score. The research was proceeded by course evaluations to three direct EMI and surveys that were performed targeting all students participated in english class. The proposed research results may lead to development of EMI for students who have a low level- english ability and give them a better understanding and interest of major subjects.
Conducting polymer sensors show high sensitivity when exposed to volatile organic compounds gases at room temperature. The 8 sensor array using by polypyrrole and polyaniline has been fabricated by chemical polymerization for measuring sensing characteristics of VOCs gases. Conducting polymer was polymerized by using distilled pyrrole, aniline as a monomer and ammonium persulfate (APS) as an oxidant and dodecylbenzene sulfonic acid (DBSA) as a dopant. Dedoped film was synthesized by reverse voltage and redoped film was synthesized by using 1-octanesulfonic acid sodium salt as another dopant in electrochemical cell. The sensitivity and reversibility were influenced by doping, dedoping, redoping and thickness for the polypyrrole and polyaniline. We investigated the relation between the structure of conducting polymer and sensitivity of these sensors through the analysis of scanning electron microscope (SEM), scanning probe microscope (SPM) and $\alpha$-step.

This paper aims at the development and clinical evaluation of the wireless gyro-mouse system. The wireless gyro-mouse system is a computer interface with gyro-sensor and wireless communication, for the patients with upper-extremity disabled from the traffic accident or stroke to use the computer software i.e. internet browser. In the development, we focused on, firstly, to make the system wireless for the patients to manipulate the mouse easily even on the bed or wheelchair, secondly, to insert the gyro-sensor into a headband for easy don-and-doff and aesthetic appearance, thirdly, to devise a click switch in case of $C5{\sim}C6$ patients and a head nodding detection in case of C4 patients for sending click message to computer operating system. We performed evaluation experiment for patients with upper-extremities disabled from spinal cord injury. The results show that the displacement error of the cursor position against the target position during linear (vertical/horizontal) movement manipulation decreased with trial number. The click rate per minute also increased with trial number. This indicates the developed wireless gyro-mouse system would be more useful to the patients with repetitive use.
This study investigated the effect of 40% oxygen administration on the addition task performance in three levels of difficulties and physiological signals. Ten male and female college students were selected as the subjects for this study. The experiment consisted of two runs: one was a addition task, with normal air (21% oxygen) administered and the other was with hyperoxic air (40% oxygen) administered. The experimental sequence in each run consisted of Rest1 (3 min), Task1 (1 min, one digit addition task), Task2 (1 min, two digit addition task), Task3 (1 min, three digit addition task), and Rest2 (4 min). Blood oxygen saturation and heart rate were measured throughout the five phases. The accuracy rates of the addition task were enhanced with 40% oxygen administration compared to 21% oxygen. Difference in the accuracy rates grew higher with the rise of difficulty. When 40% concentration oxygen is supplied, blood oxygen saturation increased and heart rate was decreased comparing to 21%. This study showed that the supply of high concentration oxygen increases blood oxygen saturation, which in turns accelerates brain activation resulting from cognitive process and enhances arithmetic abilities. Particularly when difficulty is high, demand for oxygen increases and, as a result, the effect of high concentration oxygen becomes more significant.

As a series of fundamental researches on the development of an automatic identification monitoring system for fishing gear. Firstly, the study on the installation method of automated identification buoy for the coastal improvement net fishing net with many loss problems on the west coast was carried out. Secondly, the study was conducted find out how to install an automatic identification buoy for coastal gill net which has the highest loss rate among the fisheries. GPS for fishing was used six times in the coastal waters around Seogwipo city in Jeju Island to determine the developmental status and underwater behavior to conduct a field survey. Next, a questionnaire was administered in parallel on the type of loss and the quantity and location of fishing gear to be developed and the water transmitter. In the field experiment, the data collection was possible from a minimum of 13 hours, ten minutes to a maximum of 20 hours and ten minutes using GPS, identifying the development status and underwater behavior of the coastal gillnet fishing gear. The result of the survey showed that the loss of coastal net fishing gear was in the following order: net (27.3%), full fishing gear (24.2%), buoys, and anchors (18.2%). The causes were active algae (50.0%), fish catches (33.3%) and natural disasters (12.5%). To solve this problem, the installation method is to attach one and two electronic buoys to top of each end of the fishing gear, and one underwater transmitter at both ends of the float line connected to the anchor. By identifying and managing abnormal conditions such as damage or loss of fishing gear due to external factors such as potent algae and cutting of fishing gear, loss of fishing gear can be reduced. If the lost fishing gear is found, it will be efficiently collected.

For an efficient indexing and retrieval of digital video data, research on video caption extraction and recognition is required. This paper proposes methods for extracting artificial captions from video data and enhancing their image quality for an accurate Hangul and English character recognition. In the proposed methods, we first find locations of beginning and ending frames of the same caption contents and combine those multiple frames in each group by logical operation to remove background noises. During this process an evaluation is performed for detecting the integrated results with different caption images. After the multiple video frames are integrated, four different image enhancement techniques are applied to the image: resolution enhancement, contrast enhancement, stroke-based binarization, and morphological smoothing operations. By applying these operations to the video frames we can even improve the image quality of phonemes with complex strokes. Finding the beginning and ending locations of the frames with the same caption contents can be effectively used for the digital video indexing and browsing. We have tested the proposed methods with the video caption images containing both Hangul and English characters from cinema, and obtained the improved results of the character recognition.
