The purpose of this study was to perform research on the development of core course textbooks in the LIS field. The process of textbook development proposed in this study can also be a useful reference for developing the textbooks for other, non-core courses. The textbook development procedure used was as follows; 1) investigating and analyzing the main textbooks of LIS core courses domestically and abroad, 2) deriving optimal curriculum content from job analysis results, 3) gathering comment and feedback from professors teaching core courses, 4) proposing a final, three-tiered table of contents for an optimal textbook. The textbook table of contents proposed as a result of this research relates to the core subjects of: Introduction to Library and Information Science, Information Services, Library Management, Information Organization, Information Retrieval, and Library Fieldwork. We suggested chapter and section levels for all subjects, and list all of the details that should be dealt with in each section; instructors are then able to select from these options at their discretion.

This study analyzed the effects of interactivity on the learning attitude in the tablet PC-based digital textbook environment. Most of digital textbook studies focused on comparison of learning effect between digital textbook and paper textbook. This study, instead, focused on the interaction between students and digital textbook, and examined the hypothesis that, in the digital textbook-based learning environment, interactivity factors affect learning attitude. The results showed that active control, two-way communication, and synchronicity have significant effects on the learning attitude. Those findings indicate that it's necessary to effectively realize interactivity in the process of developing digital textbooks. Also, important implication is not the fixed interactivity but how students perceive the digital textbook and make use of it. Therefore, for the interactive digital textbook, perceived user control, two-way communication, and synchronicity should be realized properly.

Elementary teachers should lower their levels of expectation and indeed perspectives to those of elementary students. Even in relation to basic symbols, such as an arrow, can be read differently by teachers or students. Semiotics deals with the creation of meaning in rotation to symbols and signs. This study introduces semiotic analysis to the study of science textbooks. Elementary science textbooks contain a great many inscriptions, such as photographs and cartoons, even more than texts, such as words and sentences. Inscriptions employ various social conventions such as arrows, auxiliary lines, etc. Some conventional signs, however, hold different or indeed multiple meanings than the textbook author intended the sign to have. The arrows used in science textbook, mainly in the inscriptions, were analyzed and classified according to their intended meaning. The results indicated that teachers should use such arrows more carefully in lessons with elementary students.

Digital textbook is noted as a new education materials to realize a new education paradigm with changes in digitalized society. The purposes of this study is investigation of key factors on digital textbook satisfaction by selecting of the three factors(domestic environment factor, teachers factor, school environment factor), analysis of awareness of effect factors on digital textbook satisfaction, and verification for each effect factors' influence on elementary school. 201 elementary school students, 201 their parents, and 12 teachers in Chung-nam were surveyed and factors which influenced on digital textbook satisfaction were analyzed. According to the results, firstly, there was a statistical significant difference in domestic internet environment, device owned environments, the utilization of the internet for the purpose of education and using time, device type of teachers, lesson time of digital textbook used in class and time ratio. Secondly, multiple regression analysis was conducted to find out the influence on digital textbook, the Awareness of parents about digital textbook, The lesson time using digital textbook by teacher, The utilization of the internet for the purpose of education affected satisfactions significantly in the order. This study has significant implications about which we have provided the effort needed to use digital textbook.

In this paper we develop textbook 'Modem Algebra' for training mathematics teacher of secondary schools. In order to understand mathematics teacher's viewpoint about desirable textbook 'Modem Algebra' we created a Questionnaire related with curriculum and textbook for training mathematics teacher of secondary schools. We analyze the result of the questionnaire along with recent studies on teacher education and come up with basic principles of developing textbook 'Modern Algebra'. The first version of 'Modern Algebra for Mathematics Teachers' that we have developed based on our study can be found in website 'www.teacheredu.co.kr'.

The purpose of the research is to examine the teachers' cognition about the math textbook selecting and to provide the implications about the rational process of the textbook selection and criteria based on the research. In terms of the research result about the inner and outer criteria of the actual process of the textbook selecting, they utilized the standard selection criteria distributed by Office of Education, and they considered 'Organization of learning contents' and 'Learning evaluation' as the most important factors. The selection method was that the answer 'After scoring the grade with matching standards, selecting by adding the total score' was the highest. In case of the actual selection, the most considerable inner criteria appeared 'Learning quantity and propriety of the difficulty level'. The outer criteria showed 'Awareness', and the difficulty in the selection process was 'in sufficient time for reviewing'. Based on this research result, we draw the implication that needs to be improved in the process of the textbook selection and the criteria.

Information literacy education is a important role of today's school libraries. So the development of information literacy curriculum and textbook is necessary to establish educational role of school libraries more firmly. The purpose of this study is to examine the development of new information literacy textbook, School Library and Information Literacy published in 2011. For this, this study investigated the status of information literacy education and instructional media in Korea, the United States and Japan. After all, this study presented the textbook's development progress, curriculum, contents and method of application.

The purpose of this study is to examine how well students can acquire scientific knowledge from the process and activity presented in the textbook. This is achieved by analysing of comparison on the material area in the 6th and 7th national curriculums' 3rd and 4th grade science textbooks. The method of this study is to analyse the contents, teacher's instruction and illustrations of the textbooks in the material area in both 6th and 7th national curriculum's 3rd and 4th grade science textbooks. Following is the result of the study. First, compared to the 6th national curriculum's content. 7th national curriculum is composed by phenomenon and activity focused. This considers student's developmental stages and abilities of concentration so one topic in the textbook is divided into 16 small contents. Therefore the textbook content of the 7th curriculum seems to have desirable changes. Secondly, teacher's instruction in the textbook of the 7th curriculum has impartial distribution in part Ⅰ and part Ⅱ according to Homey's analysis. This shows that some problems of writing textbooks that were pointed in the 6th curriculum have been improved. Thirdly, the content of the textbook emphasizes inquiry process as the 6th curriculum did. The 7th curriculum, however, more deeply deals with expecting and inferring. Finally, the analysis of illustration shows that the proportion of motive induction is high. This is also desirable approach to give students more interests in studying science.
