An Audio System Based on Vertical Sound Source Elevation for the Improvement of Audio Realism in Home TV Environments (가정용 TV 환경에서의 실감효과 향상을 위한 정면 수직음상정위 기반 오디오 시스템)

  • 본 논문에서는 가정용 TV 환경에서 실감효과를 향상시키기 위한 정면 수직음상정위에 기반한 오디오 시스템을 제안하고 이를 구현한다. 제안된 시스템은 가정용 대형 TV 환경에서 TV 하단에 배치된 오디오 시스템으로 인해 음상이 TV 의 하단에 맺히게 되어 재생되는 영상과 위치적인 불일치 문제를 해결하기 위하여, 오디오 신호에 정면 수직음상정위 기법을 적용하여 고도감이 향상된 신호를 생성해 준다. 본 논문에서의 정면 수직음상정위 기법은 청취자의 신체적 특성을 반영하기 위한 머리전달함수 모델, 고도에 따라 달라지는 주파수 특성을 반영하기 위한 spectral notch 및 특정 주파수 대역 boosting 으로 구성된다. 제안된 오디오 시스템의 정면 수직음상정위 기법의 성능을 평가하기 위하여 원음과 이 원음에 정면 수직음상정위 기법을 적용하여 생성한 음원을 TV 오디오 시스템으로 재생한 후의 청취 선호도 조사를 수행하였으며, 그 결과 정면 수직음상정위 기법을 포함하는 제안된 오디오 시스템을 통해 청취한 음원에 대한 선호도가 높았다.

  • In this paper, we propose TV caption-based KSL(Korean Sign Language) generation system. Through TV caption decoder, this caption signal is transmitted to PC. Next, caption signal is segmented into meaning units by morphological analyzer in considering specific characteristics of Korean sign language. Finally, 3D KSL generation system represents the transformed morphological information by 3D visual graphics. Specifically, we propose a morphological analyzer with many pre-processing techniques for real-time capability. Our developed system is applied to real TV caption program. Through usage of the deaf, we conclude that our system is sufficiently usable compared to conventional TV caption program.

  • Direct marketing in the form of Internet Commerce and TV Home Shopping became the focus of concern for Korean companies. Despite the importance of research in these interactive systems, few studies have been performed on the consumer behavior in TV Home Shopping. This study explores what factors consumers perceive critical in these interactive systems, and analyzes the difference in consumer perception with respect to these critical factors.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between the determinant factors of social TV resistance to innovation and intention to use focused on college students. The results were as follows. First, complexity, trialability and observability among the determinant factors of social TV usage influenced positively on resistance to innovation of social TV, and complexity influenced negatively on resistance to innovation of social TV. Second, only observability among the determinant factors of social TV usage influenced positively on intention to use. Third, resistance to innovation of social TV usage influenced negatively on intention to use.

Visual fatigue in Watching 3 Dimension Television (3D TV 시청에 있어서 시청 피로)

  • Purpose: This study was to evaluate visual fatigue with passing of watching 3D TV in short term and with experience of watching 3DTV in long term. Methods: 98 adult subjects aged $33.5{\pm}5.5$ years (22 to 51 years; 12 females and 86 males) agreed to participate in this study. Subjects were asked to watch 52 inch LED 2D and 3D television (Shutter glasses method) at 2.7 meters for 65minutes with wearing their habitual glasses or contact lenses. For evaluating visual fatigue, subjects were verbally responded to 11 questions : eye straining, eye paining, dry eye, sore eye, watery eye, photophobia, blur vision, diplopia, eye fatigue, headache, and dizziness with scale 0 to 3 at each measurement while watching 3D and 2D TV. Results: The mean scores of visual fatigue were $2.08{\pm}2.14$, $3.19{\pm}3.02$, $3.40{\pm}3.37$, $3.53{\pm}3.07 $for after 5 minutes, 25 minutes, 45 minutes, and 65 minutes respectively for 3D TV, and $0.40{\pm}1.03$, $0.22{\pm}0.70$, $0.22{\pm}0.58$, and $0.17{\pm}0.52$ after 25, 45, and 65 minutes respectively for 2D TV. Visual fatigue for watching 3D TV was significantly higher than for watching 2D TV at all measurements sessions (paired t-test, p < 0.001). The visual fatigue significantly increased during watching 3D TV for 65 minutes (p < 0.001, RM-ANOVA). The visual fatigue during watching 3D TV was significantly increased until 25 minutes (paired t-test, p < 0.001), stable after that. For correlation between visual fatigue and 3D watching experience, the more 3D watching experiences were significantly the less visual fatigues in photophobia, blur vision, diplopic and dizzy symptoms (ANOVA, all F(1, 96) = 4.500, all p < 0.05), but there was not significantly different in the other symptoms (ANOVA, F (1, 96) = 2.123, p = 0.148). Conclusions: Visual fatigue for watching 3D TV was higher than for watching 2D TV, increase by 25 minutes. It was different by symptoms for correlation between visual fatigue and 3D watching experience.

  • The ultra-high definition TV system nicknamed "Super Hi-Vision" is a television system with 4000-scanning-line video and 22.2 multichannel sound. NHK has been developing it with the aim of creating a broadcasting system conveying a strong sensation of presence. We believe that it is important to design the system by taking into account human factors such as human visual system characteristics. This paper describes the psychological and physiological experiments on the visual effects of "Super Hi-Vision".

  • Today, Advertisement affects the daily consumption life of consumers because of the features and advantages of advertisement. In particular, and so does the TV advertisement. Therefore, customer education is required for the consumers so that they can lead a rational consumption through TV advertisement quality. In addition, with the introduction of the many new-born distribution channels, the recent market environment in apparel industry is changing, and the service and image of store types consumers can choose are increasing. The purpose of this research is to offer basic data which can help consumers to acquire necessary information and conduct rational consumption through TV advertisement. Also purchasing behavior of consumers communicate, feels of consumers about store image, TV advertisement quality of what is the attitude of the relative influence presents.

  • 본 논문은 디지털 방송 환경에서 TV-AnyTime을 이용한 메타데이터 서비스를 위한 메타데이터 부/복호화 시스템 구현에 관한 논문이다. 부호화 시스템은 생성된 TV-AnyTime 메타데이터의 효율적인 전송을 위해 메타데이터를 TV-AnyTime에 정의된 fragment로 분할하고, 분할된 fragment를 부호화하는 과정을 포항하고 있다. 또한 fragment의 id와 version을 부여하여 container를 구성하는 것과, 전송된 container의 내용에서 요청된 fragment을 축출하여 처리하는 것을 정의한다. 복호화 시스템은 축출된 fragment들을 분석하고, 사용자의 요청에 따라 해당 fragment를 복호화 한다. 그리고 fragment에 포함된 정보를 이용해 fragment를 관리하는 방법에 대해 정의한다.

  • 최근 디지털 TV방송서비스의 보급으로 채널의 수와 그에 따른 프로그램의 수가 많아짐에 따라 시청자는 모든 프로그램의 정보를 미리 알고 있는 것이 힘들어 졌다. 모든 채널과 방송 프로그램을 탐색하고 자신의 취향에 맞는 프로그램을 찾아 보기 어려워진 문제를 해결하고자 영화, 상품 등의 분야에 국한 되었던 추천연구 분야도 TV채널 까지 확대할 필요가 있다. 본 논문에서는 사용자의 TV시청 기록을 분석하여 사용자 프로파일 테이블을 구성하고, 베이시안 네트워크와 시계열 분석 이론을 접목하여 추천엔진을 구현하는 TV채널 추천 엔진을 제안한다.

  • Surrounding noise often affects the performance of speech recognition system when it is used in office or home. Especially situation is more serious when colored and nonstational noise such as an sound from television or other audio equipment is introduced. The authors proposed a voice control system for television set using an adaptive noise canceler, and it works well even is sound of television set has comparable level of speech. In this paper, a new front-end of speech recognition is introduced for the voice control system. This font-end utilizes a simplified masking model to reduce the effect of residual noise. According to experimental results, 90% correct recognition is achieved even if the level of television sound is almost 15dB higher than one of speech.
