  • This study aims to identify the importance and satisfaction levels of home meals of high school students. A developed survey was conducted on July 10 through July 13, 2012. Of 12 high schools located in three different areas in South Korea, three high schools were singled out. For the analyses of the study, the following statistical methods were employed: frequency, cross-tabulation, independent sample t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Duncan as a post-hoc test. As a result, food experiences and education through home meals during childhood promote close ties with other family members and help them develop the food taste and preference that can naturally raise the meal satisfaction level by developing proper eating habit. More implications and discussion are suggested.

  • In this paper, we propose a learning-based super-resolution algorithm. In the proposed algorithm, a multi-resolution wavelet approach is adopted to perform the synthesis of local high-frequency features. To obtain a high-resolution image, wavelet coefficients of two dominant LH- and HL-bands are estimated based on wavelet frames. In order to prepare more efficient training sets, the proposed algorithm utilizes the LH-band and transposed HL-band. The training sets are then used for the estimation of wavelet coefficients for both LH- and HL-bands. Using the estimated high frequency bands, a high resolution image is reconstructed via the wavelet transform. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed scheme can synthesize high-quality images.

  • One of the important requirements for the application of reduced-activation ferritic/martensitic (RAFM) steel is to retain proper mechanical properties under irradiation and high-temperature conditions. To simulate the yield strength and stress-strain curve of steels during high-temperature and irradiation conditions, a multiscale simulation method consisting of both microstructure and strengthening simulations was established. The simulation results of microstructure parameters were added to a superposition strengthening model, which consisted of constitutive models of different strengthening methods. Based on the simulation results, the strength contribution for different strengthening methods at both room temperature and high-temperature conditions was analyzed. The simulation results of the yield strength in irradiation and high-temperature conditions were mainly consistent with the experimental results. The optimal application field of this multiscale model was 9Cr series (7-9 wt.%Cr) RAFM steels in a condition characterized by 0.1-5 dpa (or 0 dpa) and a temperature range of $25-500^{\circ}C$.

  • A photonic crystal coupled-cavity waveguide created on silicon-on-insulator is designed to act as a refractive-index-sensing device at midinfrared wavelengths around 4 ㎛. To realize high sensitivity, effort is made to engineer the structural parameters to obtain strong modal confinement, which can enhance the interaction between the resonance modes and the analyzed sample. By adjusting some parameters, including the shape of the cavity, the width of the coupling cavity, and the size of the surrounding dielectric columns, a high-sensitivity refractive-index sensor based on the optimized photonic crystal coupled-cavity waveguide is proposed, and a sensitivity of approximately 2620 nm/RIU obtained. When an analyte is measured in the range of 1.0-1.4, the sensor can always maintain a high sensitivity of greater than 2400 nm/RIU. This work demonstrates the viability of high-sensitivity photonic crystal waveguide devices in the midinfrared band.
