  • The populations of Pinus densiflora in South Korea were grouped into 4 types; Community of Pinus densiflora-Quercus serrata, Community of Pinus densiflora-Quercus mongolica, Community of Pinus densiflora-Fraxinus sieboldiana & Rhus javanica & Quercus mongolica and Community of Pinus densiflora-Prunus sargentii & Rhododendron mucronulatum. The Shannon diversity index was varied between 0.9171 and 1.5016, while the Similarity index was varied between 43.18 and 72.16. The species of Pinus densiflora are correlated positively significant with Carex humilis var. nana, Quercus serrata and Atractylodes ovata and negatively significant with Aster scaber and Sorbus alnifolia in order. According to the Correlation analysis, the relationship between the distribution of Pinus densiflora populations and the environment factors are closely related with the character of forest soil. Thus types for Pinus densiflora are differed. pH, Ex. K and Ex. Ca of Pinus densiflora populations effect No. of species and H'(shannon index). Canopy open effects No. of Individuals of Pinus densiflora community.

  • Korean fishing boats have had appropriate hull forms for the safety, stability and convenience of fishing ability. However, Korean fishermen are recently concerned about the resistance performance and speed of Korean fishing boats, because the prices of fuel oil are gradually risen, also the exhausting of fish resources and the demand of high speed fishing boats are increased. Therefore, the necessity of the study on the improvement of resistance performance for Korean small coastal fishing boats is gradually increased. This study compares the hull form characteristics of Korean fishing boats with those of Japanese fishing boats, and the hull form of a representative Korean fishing boat is modified. From the modification of the hull form parameters for the Korean fishing boat, the improvement of resistance performances is evaluated. Moreover, the increase of resistance performances is also achieved from the modification of local characteristics for the hull form of the Korean fishing boat. A computational method and ship model tests in towing tank are used for the conformations of the improvement of resistance performance.

  • Following an internal column failure, adjacent double-span beams above the failed column will play a critical role in the load transfer and internal force redistribution within the remaining structure, and the span-to-depth ratios of double-span beams significantly influence the structural resistance capacity against progressive collapse. Most existing studies have focused on the collapse-resistant performances of single-story symmetric structures, whereas limited published works are available on the collapse resistances of multi-story steel frames with unequal spans. To this end, in this study, numerical models based on shell elements were employed to investigate the structural behavior of multi-story steel frames with unequal spans. The simulation models were validated using the previous experimental results obtained for single- and two-story steel frames, and the load-displacement responses and internal force development of unequal-span three-story steel frames under three cases were comprehensively analyzed. In addition, the specific contributions of the different mechanism resistances of unequal-span, double-span beams of each story were separated quantitatively using the energy equilibrium theory, with an aim to gain a deeper level of understanding of the load-resistance mechanisms in the unequal-span steel frames. The results showed that the axial and flexural mechanism resistances were determined by the span ratio and linear stiffness ratio of double-span beams, respectively.

  • The aim of this study was to analysis the landscape equipments of 42 school gardens in Taejon metropolitan city. Outdoor educational landscape equipments were found out at 10 schools out of 42 schools. The materials of main entrance were consisted of steel and stone at 19 schools. The stands at front of the main ground were existed at 21 schools. The pergolas and benches were existed at 20 schools. The living material fences were found out at 21 schools. Plant nameplates were found out at 22 schools. But the contents of the nameplates were so poor. The wetland and roof garden of the school were not existed. School landscape equipments should be introduced by the distinction of elementary school, middle school, and high school as well as by the space of the school site.

  • Although Feng-Shui has been widely used in architecture and urban design and planning for thousands of years, it has not been properly studied as a scientific and thus rational approach. Feng-Shui has been recognized as an environment-friendly design and planning method in recent years due to its thoughtful consideration on the harmonious relationship between architecture and the natural environment. This study investigates its major principles and techniques that have been widely used in the design of houses through previous relevant researches. Then, the principles and techniques that are relevant to the residential uses are indexed for the quantification of Feng-Shui. Ten Feng-Shui indices are formulated and each index is quantified to make five points for a perfect match. These indices are then tested on three different types of house in Korea, namely traditional Korean houses, contemporary Korean style houses and contemporary architects' houses. The result shows that the first type of house records the highest Feng-Shui points and then the second and third types in that order. This result convinces us that the Feng-Shui indices can very effectively represent the degree of environmentally friendly design.

  • A common approach to achieve better thermal comfort with hydronic radiant floor heating system is supply water temperature control. This is the control method through which supply water temperature is varied with outdoor temperature. In this study, a comprehensive, yet simple calculation method to find optimum supply water temperature is evaluated by combining heat loss from the building and heat emission from the hydronic radiant floor heating system. And then the control performance of suggested calculation method is confirmed through experiment. It is shown that indoor air temperature is stably maintained around the set point.

  • As professional postnatal care systems have been rapidly supplied, there is sharp increase of postnatal care centers without legal regulations for a mother and a infant. For the quick recovery of mothers, newborn infants that have weaker immune systems are being managed in group in the postnatal care centers. Recently, the attention of the postnatal care centers has been growing because the problem of pneumonia which led to result in a casuality in a infant unit was happen. So, this research analyzed the indoor environment of infant unit through measuring formaldehyde, carbon dioxide, intensity of illumination. As a result of the data, infant units showed higher concentration of formaldehyde and carbon dioxide than Indoor Air Quality Control Law. Moreover, infant units was measured higher intensity of illumination than the range of optimum illumination for infants.

  • Indoor air quality control has been strengthened within childcare facilities and welfare communities for the elderly and infirm. I have researched the indoor air quality of kids caf$\acute{e}$s. The quality was determined by the measurement of $CO_2$ and HCHO, and the result was used in understanding of the current status of indoor air quality control. The higher level of $CO_2$ and HCHO were found in the playground area where children use compared to the area for guardians in kids caf$\acute{e}$s. And the more people in the caf$\acute{e}$s, the more $CO_2$ and HCHO were generated. It is judged that kids furniture produce harmful substances for children. Hence, the government regulations for kids caf$\acute{e}$s should be improved by reinforcing the indoor air quality control, considering that the main customers are children not adults.

  • This paper aims at investigating the effect of crumb rubber size and content on compressive behaviors of concrete under axial compression. Concrete specimens are designed and produced by replacing natural aggregate with crumb rubber content of 0%, 5%, 10%, 15% and three different sized crumb rubbers (No. 20, No. 40, No. 80 crumb rubber). And the failure mode, compressive strength, elastic modulus, stress-strain curves, peak strain and ultimate strain are experimentally studied. Based on the test results, formulas have been presented to determine the compressive strength, elastic modulus, the relationship between prism compressive strength and cube compressive strength, stress-strain curves and peak strain of crumb rubber concrete (CRC). It is found that the proposed formulas agree well with the test result on the whole, which may be used to practical applications.
