Objectives: This study was to examine the independent and mediating effect of socioeconomic position and social relationship on depression. Methods: The study analyzed the data from the 2014 Korea Welfare Panel Study(n=9,172) using descriptive statistics, Kendall's rank correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis and the Sobel test. Results: Much of the connection between parental socioeconomic position and respondent depression was explained by respondent educational attainment in men but was not in women. A large portion of the association between educational attainment and depression was explained by type of household and satisfaction with social relationship among men. The effect of educational attainment on depression was fully mediated by type of household among women. The effect of type of household on depression was partly mediated by satisfaction with social relationship in men and women. Lastly, educational attainment, type of household and satisfaction with social relationship had an independent association with depression among men, but educational attainment was not statistically significant among women. Conclusions: Our study illuminated the importance of the independent and mediating effect of parental and respondent socioeconomic position and social relationship in the production of depression for South Korean adults.
In the last decades, technology-oriented small firms, i.e. venture businesses, have been increasingly engaged in R&D collaborations with external parties as strategic means for technological innovation. Despite ample evidence on the benefit of such collaborations for the firms, there has been less attention to examining whether and how the firms' social interactions with cooperating partners and their managerial characteristics contribute to that benefit. Drawing on the theories of social capital and entrepreneurial orientation, this study is to remedy this gap. The theory of social capital, referring to a sum of the value and potential resources embedded in social relationships of collectives, provides an integrated view of social factors among cooperating partners, e.g. strong ties, network stability, trust, reciprocity, shared vision and value. It categorizes these factors into structural, relational, and cognitive dimensions of social capital. Entrepreneurial orientation theory captures firms' managerial characteristics as a combination of innovativeness, proactiveness, and risk-taking. This addresses firms' managerial process to utilize and combine internal and external resources for wealth creation and opportunity realization. Against this background, this study investigates what roles social capital among cooperating R&D partners and entrepreneurial orientation of the collaborating firms play for collective performance improvement in R&D collaborations. In terms of the collective performance, this study adopts two indicators: technological competitiveness and business performance. Technological competitiveness refers to the contribution of a technology developed by a cooperative R&D project to competitive advantage of a firm while business performance is defined as the financial and economic outcome of a collaboration. Using a sample of 218 Korean ventures engaging in R&D collaboration with external parties, the author finds the significant effects of social capital (i.e. structural, relational, and cognitive dimensions) and entrepreneurial orientation (i.e. innovativeness, proactiveness, and risk-taking) on both of the technological competitiveness and the business performance. Further, the higher the social capital among R&D partners, the more likely it is to foster the entrepreneurial orientation at firm-level. Most importantly, the entrepreneurial orientation at firm-level is an significant mediator of the relationship between social capital and collective performance. Beyond these novel empirical findings, this study contributes to the literature on R&D collaboration. The findings' implications for management and policy are deeply discussed in the conclusion.

This study aims to look into the causal relationships between corporate social responsibility and firm value, corporate social responsibility and institutional ownership, and firm value and institutional ownership. This study develops a triangle model of causal relationships among the three endogenous variables. Samples for this study are manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the period 2014-2018. The model is operated in the system of simultaneous equation models using the generalized method of moments technique to estimate parameter coefficients. After controlling the effects of trade-off/balancing capital structure and managerial ownership, the research findings show a positive causal relationship between CSR and firm value and firm value and institutional ownership. Institutional ownership has a positive effect on CSR, while the effect of CSR on institutional ownership is negative in the firms without managerial ownership and positive in the firms with managerial ownership. This study finds that the causal relationship between CSR and firm value is stronger after the trade-off/balancing of capital structure is included in the model. Capital structure has a convex effect on firm value and positively impacts institutional ownership. In addition, an independent commissioner has a negative impact on CSR but has no direct impact on firm value.
Recognizing the critical importance of data and its vital role in advancing the tourism industry, the European Union has begun to invest significantly in the creation of a common European Tourism Data Space (ETDS), an infrastructure to facilitate the sharing of data among tourism stakeholder organizations. In order to inform the design and governance strategies of the ETDS, a series of binary logistic regression models are evaluated to understand the key factors that influence tourism stakeholders' decisions to share various categories of tourism ecosystem data (i.e., Human Capital, Natural Capital, Built Capital, Economic/Social Capital, Environmental Impact, Economic Impact, and Social Impact data) with third parties. Results based on online questionnaire data obtained from European tourism organizations (n=209) indicate that organizational resources, typology, motivations, and effort expectancy all play varying roles in tourism stakeholder data sharing practice. Importantly, this research provides preliminary empirical evidence to support the on-going development of the ETDS. Additionally, this investigation provides the opportunity to revisit the formative theories related to organizational data sharing and to re-evaluate them within the context of today's rapidly evolving tourism sector.

In Korea, small and medium sized domestic enterprises(SMEs) play an pivotal role in the national economy, accounting for 99.8% of all enterprises, 87.9% of total employment, and 48.3% of production. and SMEs were driving a real force of the development of national economy in many respects such as innovation, job creation, industrial diversity, balanced regional development. Despite their crucial role in the national development, most of SMEs suffer from a lack of R&D capabilities and equipments as well as funding capacity. Government-Supported Research Institute(GRI) can provide SMEs with valuable supplementary technological knowledges and help them build technological capacities. so, In order to effectively support SMEs, government and GRI must be a priority to know about the factors influencing the performance related to technology transfer and technological collaborations. The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of Innovative competences and CEO's entrepreneurship on Organizational performance in ICT small and medium enterprises, including the moderating effect of Social capital. This study adopted research variables such as Innovative competence, CEO's entrepreneurship as independent variables, with Organizational performance as a dependent variable, including the moderating variable of Social capital. 1,200 companies data which in the field of ICT SMEs were collected from the survey. The result of this empirical study is summarized as follows, First, CEO's entrepreneurship was confirmed to have a significant effect on organizational performance, and social capital variables were confirmed to have a moderating effect between entrepreneurship and organizational performance. Second, it was found that the company's Innovative competence was significantly affected the organizational performance. and also that social capital variables moderating effects. From these findings, it was confirmed that the Innovatibe competence plays an important role in influencing corporate performance.
Purpose: This study was to identify the factors influencing the practice of respiratory infection prevention (RIP) for the elderly residing in rural areas. Methods: The data were collected from 188 residents aged 65 years or older residing in the jurisdictions of four public health clinics in rural areas of C city, using a structured questionnaire for the period from December 1, 2018 to February 28, 2019. The collected data were analyzed with independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and hierarchical multiple regression analysis using SPSS/WIN 25.0 program. Results: The score on knowledge of RIP was 8.82±1.36, while it was 4.53±0.47 for attitude, 3.78±0.66 for practice, and 3.78±0.69 for social capital. It was observed that the factors influencing the practice of RIP were attitude of RIP (β=.38, p<.001), social capital (β=.29, p<.001), family type (β=-.19, p=.002), and subjective health status (β=.15, p=.035), while the explanatory power of the model was 47%. Conclusion: Consequently, to enhance the practice of RIP for the elderly residing in rural areas, it is necessary to develop programs considering social and environmental characteristics of rural areas based on their attitude of RIP, social capital, family type and subjective health status.

As the number of SNS users increases, so does their self-disclosure. This study examined the factors affecting self-disclosure based on Social Capital Theory and Regulatory Focus Theory. The (extent of self-disclosure by users/number of users disclosing themselves) in SNSs is expected to differ depending on their social capital (bonding capital vs. bridging capital) and regulatory focus (promotional vs. defensive). As a result of this study, it is found that bridging capital is positively related to self-disclosure in profile and in conversation, while bonding capital is positively related to self-disclosure only in conversation. With regard to regulatory focus, promotional orientation has a significant effect on self-disclosure in profile and in conversation, while defensive orientation is negatively related to self-disclosure in profile, but not related to self-disclosure in conversation. Promotional orientation is found to moderate the effect of bridging capital on self-disclosure.
This study inquires at behavior and attitude of gatekeepers at major Korean media in the process of selecting and covering newsmakers, with focusing on factors, paths and practices in making news on the people. The study assumes that gatekeepers' social networking process with social elites, based on birth places, alma mater and kinship, plays great role in making people in the news. The study applies methods of in-depth interviews with people-page gatekeepers and content analysis of news on newsmakers. The in-depth interviews and content analysis unveil that people-page gatekeepers tend to support high society and social elite group. Furthermore, through the process of news-making, the gatekeeper group shares social capital such as economic exchanges and socio-political influences with social elite group. The result of interviews and analysis confirm that social networking based on personal affiliation plays as an important factor in selecting and covering newsmakers. With in-depth analysis of news contents, the study finds out that social elite groups of top government officials, corporate CEOs, medical doctors, lawyers, judges, prosecutors, college professors, cultural celebrities and journalists, who are predominantly male, appear on people pages much frequently out of proportion. The content analysis also reveal that 'personal news,' which cover personal and private life or unilaterally promote newsmakers predominate in terms of frequency and amount over socially-important or pubic-interested 'public news.' In terms of news values, fragmentary news composed of sensational, personal and gossiping elements appear more frequently than socially-meaningful news with strong social issues and public messages.

Various studies have been carried out on the subject of entrepreneurship, which is required to create new businesses and organizations during the early process of startups based on innovative technologies and ideas. At the same time, the concept of organizational entrepreneurial orientation, which explains how to manage enterprises in the process of pioneering new products and markets, is drawing more and more attention for the purpose of continuously creating and maintaining a competitive edge of startups. This study focused on the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and startup performance and the role of technological orientation and social capital. An empirical research was conducted on 144 different startup companies residing in startup supporting institutions. To evaluate the suitability of the research model, a PLS-based structural equation model was used. The research results are as follows: First, the entrepreneurial orientation of startups was found to have a positive effect on startup performance. Second, it was shown that entrepreneurial orientation had a positive effect on all three dimensions of social capital and technological orientation. Third, it has been shown that technological orientation and the cognitive dimension of social capital mediates the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and startup performance. Through this, it was confirmed that entrepreneurial orientation directly affects startup performance, and it even influences the growth of startups by increasing technological superiority and social capital which is inherent in the network. Also, the research identified the need for additional research on the relationship between the strengthening of technological orientation and strategical orientation in startups. This study is expected to expand the discussion about social capital in the field of startup related research by affirming the role and importance of the cognitive system embedded in the network as well as the connectivity of networks, which has been already emphasized in previous startup related studies. Finally, the results of this study were reflected to present new practical implications.

The purpose of this study is to understand the effects of adolescent wellbeing of school maladjusted teens on the career decision self-efficacy and the mediating effect of community capital. The subjects were 116 school maladjusted teens in Ulsan metropolitan area. As analysis methods, frequency analysis, descriptive statistics analysis, correlation analysis, three-step mediation effect analysis, and a Sobel test were performed based on factor analysis, reliability analysis, and regression analysis, using the R program. As a result, adolescent wellbeing was found to have a significant positive (+) effect on career decision self-efficacy. The effect of adolescent's wellbeing on career decision self-efficacy was confirmed. This means that the self-efficacy of career decisions will improve as the adolescent's wellbeing of school maladjusted teens increases and there is more positive community capital. Overall, it will be necessary to develop and utilize educational programs that can improve the sense of youth wellbeing and implement systematic intervention of specialized counseling services helpful in career search and decision-making in light of the psychological characteristics of youth. Therefore, to improve the career decision self-efficacy of school-maladjusted teens, reinforcement of teenage wellbeing and various strategies utilizing community capital will be necessary.
