  • We propose a novel cooperative guidance law design method based on the finite time disturbance observer (FTDO) for multiple near space interceptors (NSIs) with impact time control. Initially, we construct a cooperative guidance model with head pursuit, and employ the FTDO to estimate the system disturbance caused by target maneuvering. We subsequently separate the cooperative guidance process into two stages, and develop the normal acceleration command based on the super-twisting algorithm (STA) and disturbance estimated value, to ensure the convergence of the relative distance. Then, we also design the acceleration command along the line-of-sight (LOS), based on the nonsingular fast terminal sliding mode (NFTSM) control, to ensure that all the NSIs simultaneously hit the target. Furthermore, we prove the stability of the closed-loop guidance system, based on the Lyapunov theory. Finally, our simulation results of a three-to-one interception scenario show that the proposed cooperative guidance scheme makes all the NSIs hit the target at the same time.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to test the effect of a scenario based hand hygiene education program on hand hygiene knowledge, hand hygiene perception, hand hygiene compliance and hand hygiene method in nursing students. Methods: A non-equivalent control group, non-synchronized quasi-experimental design was used. Forty five nursing students participated in the study with 22 in the experimental group and 23 in the control group. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, ${\chi}^2-test$, t-test, and repeated measures of ANOVA. Results: There were significant increases in hand hygiene knowledge (t=-4.28, p<.001) and accuracy of the hand hygiene method by week (F=7.33, p<.001). However, hand hygiene perception (t=-1.67, p=.102) and hand hygiene compliance rate (F=7.33, p=.405) were not significantly changed. Conclusion: The effects of the scenario based hand hygiene education program provided in this study were excellent, compared to the other hand hygiene education programs. Moreover, as a result of investigating the education effects through direct observation for 4 weeks, appropriate feedback was offered in the third week, and it was found that maintaining the effect was necessary. However, the current status of hand hygiene compliance and accuracy of methods for ensuring hand hygiene need to be studied further.

  • Purpose: This study evaluated the acquisition and retention effects on diabetes knowledge and academic self-efficacy of patient simulation-based hypoglycemia scenario using a high-fidelity simulator. Methods: A nonequivalent control group pretest/posttest repeated measures quasi-experimental design determined if nursing simulation using a high-fidelity simulator helps students acquire and retain diabetes knowledge and academic self-efficacy. A total of 101 nursing students from two universities participated in this study, comprising the experimental and control groups. The experimental group (n=52) at a university in S city comprised participants in an adult nursing class, nursing practicum, and simulation education. The control group (n=49) at a university in C city participated in an adult nursing class and nursing practicum without simulation education. Results: The experimental group had statistically significant group-time interaction effects on diabetes knowledge (p=.044) and self-confidence (p<.001) of academic self-efficacy compared to the control group. Conclusion: The results indicated that the patient simulation-based hypoglycemia scenario using a high-fidelity simulator applied to nursing education is useful in encouraging nursing students to engage in strategies with acquisition and retention effects, enhancing their diabetes knowledge and self-confidence of academic self-efficacy. Therefore, educators should use simulation programs effectively with nursing classes and practicum to enhance the effects of nursing competencies.

  • We developed the safety training methods which improve the current methods by overcoming the single scenario-based one-way communication between trainee and training system. We improved the design and implementation of the safety training scenarios, which is one of the most important components of the plant safety training system for safe operation of the city gas governor. The diversity and training effects of the training scenarios can be improved by interactive training between the plant safety training system and operators. The interactive training methods were developed based on Finite State Machine model which is applicable to and based on plant safety training platform. We could see the possibility of applying this method of safety training scenario system to other domain of plant safety training system.

  • This study aims to analyze working hours of sprinkler heads when a fire occurs at an indoor gymnasium while sprinkler heads are installed in division of standard response type, special response type, and earlier response type. The fire scenario was designed under the assumption that the fire started from overheating of a heater in the indoor gymnasium has transferred on to a couch to spread. The analysis on the operation time of the standard response type sprinkler head, the special response type sprinkler head and the early response sprinkler head was conducted. The result showed that, in case of fire in a gymnasium, the time for opening of the heat sensor due to the heat from the fire varies by the type of the sprinkler head. When a special response type sprinkler is installed, it worked below the assessment standards. When an early response sprinkler head is installed, it worked appropriately according to assessment standards. Based on the results, we found that sprinkler heads will work properly when installed according to design relevant to laws and regulations. This means that there is a limit in installation of sprinkler heads based on the existing law-based design as for indoor gymnasiums. Again, we conclude that if sprinkler heads are installed based on design made through laws and regulations, more time will be needed for operation, making it highly likely to fail to stop a fire at an earlier point of time.

  • For stable and sustainable crop production, understanding the effects of climate changes on agricultural water resources is necessary to minimize the negative effects which might occur due to shifting weather conditions. Although various studies have been carried out in Korea concerning changes in evapotranspiration and irrigation water requirement, the findings are still difficult to utilize fordesigning the demand and unit duty of water, which are the design criteria of irrigation systems. In this study, the impact analysis of climate changes on the paddy water demand and unit duty of water was analyzed based on the high resolution climate change scenarios (specifically under the A1B scenario) provided by the Korea Meteorological Administration. The result of the study indicated that average changes in the paddy water demand in eight irrigation districts were estimated as -2.4 % (2025s), -0.2 % (2055s), and 3.2 % (2085s). The unit duty of water was estimated to increase on an average within 2 % during paddy transplanting season and within 5 % during growing season after transplanting. This result could be utilized for irrigation system design, agricultural water resource development, and rice paddy cultivation policy-making in South Korea.

  • The goal of this study is to establish an integrated watershed hydrologic model for the whole Nakdong River basin whose area is an approximately 24,000 km2. Including a number of watershed elements such as rainfall, runoff, water use, and so on, the proposed model is based on SWAT model, and is used to improve the flow duration curve estimation of ungauged watersheds for Korean Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL). The model is also used to recognize quantitatively the river flow variation due to water use elements and large dam effluents in the whole watershed. The established combined watershed hydrologic model, SWAT-Nakdong, is used to evaluate the quantified influences of artificial water balance elements, such as a dam and water use in the watershed. We apply two water balance scenarios in this study: the dam scenario considering effluent conditions of 4 large multi-purpose dams, Andong dam, Imha dam, Namgang dam, and Habcheon dam, and the water use scenario considering a water use for stream line and the effluent from a treatment plant. The two scenarios are used to investigate the impacts on TMDL design flow and flow duration of particular locations in Nakdong River main stream. The results from this study will provide the basic guideline for the natural flow restoration in Nakdong River.
