Gas cylinder cabinets have risks such as cylinder explosion and scattering of debris when a fire occurs. These risks are likely to cause gas spills and cause secondary damage. In order to reduce damage, it is very important to secure the fire resistance performance of the gas cylinder cabinet. In foreign countries, NFPA codes in the United States and EN-14470-2 in Europe stipulate fire resistance test standards for gas cylinder cabinets to protect internal cylinders for a certain period of time in a situation where gas cylinder cabinets are exposed to flames. However, in Korea, only internal pressure performance and airtight performance standards are specified, and the target is limited to piping, and research and regulations for the fire resistance performance of gas cylinder cabinets are insufficient compared to overseas. Therefore, in this study, finite element analysis was used to establish fire resistance standards for domestic gas cylinder cabinets. In the event of a fire, optimal conditions are derived in terms of structure and material.
With the recent prediction of 'Cycle 25', the importance of space weather research increases. Accordingly, the World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC)-23 has adopted Agenda Item 9.1a) and carried out sharing researches between active/passive space weather observation systems and existing services. Therefore, in this paper, in order to increase the precision of space weather environment data and secure the frequency spectrum for observation systems, the direct interference effect from the weather radar in Gosan, Jeju on the space weather observation receiver in Hallim, Jeju, and the indirect interference on the observation receiver by diffraction and scattering from the radar target have been analyzed. As a result, it can be known that the radar direction, the propagation direction diffracted and scattered from the target, and the Rradar Cross Section (RCS) of the radar target, the reception area of the space weather observation antenna, and the antenna off-boresight are important parameters for the interference effect analysis.

Control drones, which are recently classified as smart agricultural machines in the agricultural field, are striving to build smart control and automatic control systems by combining hardware and software in order to shorten working hours and increase the effectiveness of control in the aging era of rural areas. In this paper, the characteristics of the nozzle dedicated to the control drone were analyzed as a basic study for the establishment of management control and automatic control systems. In order to consider various variables such as the type of various drone models, controller, wind, flight speed, flight altitude, weather conditions, and UAV pesticide types, related studies are needed to be able to present the drug spraying criteria in consideration of the characteristics and versatility of the nozzle. Therefore, to enable the consideration of various variables, flow analysis (CFD) simulation was conducted based on the self-designed nozzle, and the theoretical and experimental values of the droplet distribution were compared and analyzed through water reduction experiments. In the future, we intend to calculate accurate scattering in consideration of various variables according to drone operation and use it in management control and automatic control systems.
This study analyzed the distribution of Aerosol Robotic Network (AERONET) Version 3 Level 2.0 data, spanning over two decades, across South Korea and its six administrative regions (Seoul metropolitan area, Chungcheong, Jeolla, Gangwon, Gyeongsang, and Jeju). The research assessed long-term trends in aerosol optical depth (AOD) and mass concentration of particulate matter (i.e., PM10 and PM2.5), using data from the AERONET direct sun product and AirKorea, respectively. Additionally, eight aerosol types were identified using the scattering Ångström exponent and absorption Ångström exponent from the AERONET inversion product. The study further explored their domestic and regional distributions. Findings indicated that AERONET data were predominantly concentrated in the western regions of South Korea, including the Seoul metropolitan area, Chungcheong, and Jeolla, with a higher frequency of data in spring, thus demonstrating spatial and temporal heterogeneity. The annual average AOD exhibited a declining trend of -0.006 yr-1. Similarly, PM10 and PM2.5 mass concentrations decreased by -1.324 ㎍ m-3 yr-1 and -1.335 ㎍ m-3 yr-1, respectively. These trends in AOD and PM10 (PM2.5) demonstrated positive correlations, with correlation coefficients of 0.674 (0.753) and statistically significant low p-values of 0.00058 (0.03), respectively. The analysis also revealed that aerosols in South Korea predominantly consisted of black carbon (BC) or BC-mixed types (84.09%), with a notable presence of smaller, less absorbent aerosol types (13.11%).

Magnesium oxide has become focus for research activities due to its use in magnetic tunnel junctions and for understanding of do ferromagnetism. Theoretical investigations on such type of system indicate that the presence of defects greater than a threshold value is responsible for the magnetic behaviour. It has also been shown experimentally that by decreasing the film thickness and size of nanoparticles, enhancement/increase in magnetization can be achieved. Apart from the change in dimension, swift heavy ions (SHI) are well known for creating defects and modifying the properties of the materials. In the present work, we have studied the irradiation induced effects in magnesium oxide thin film deposited on quartz substrate via X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS). Magnesium oxide thin films of thickness 50nm were deposited on quartz substrate by using e-beam evaporation method. These films were irradiated by 200 MeV Ag15+ ion beam at fluence of $1{\times}10^{11}$, $5{\times}10^{11}$, $1{\times}10^{12}$, $3{\times}10^{12}$ and $5{\times}10^{12}ions/cm^2$ at Nuclear Science Centre, IUAC, New Delhi (India). The grain size was observed (as studied by AFM) to be decreased from 37 nm (pristine film) to 23 nm ($1{\times}10^{12}ions/cm^2$) and thereafter it increases upto a fluence of $5{\times}10^{12}ions/cm^2$. The electronic structure of the system has been investigated by X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) measurements performed at the high energy spherical grating monochromator 20A1 XAS (HSGM) beamline in the National Synchrotron Radiation Research Center (NSRRC), Taiwan. Oxides of light elements like MgO/ZnO possess many unique physical properties with potentials for novel application in various fields. These irradiated thin films are also studied with different polarization (left and right circularly polarized) of incident x-ray beam at 05B3 EPU- Soft x-ray scattering beamline of NSRRC. The detailed analysis of observed results in the wake of existing theories is discussed.

An inter-laboratory comparison campaign on nutrient analysis in seawater was carried out in 2010. Sets of three sterilized seawater samples (Bottle 130, 131, 132) which have enough homogeneity and stability were distributed to 10 laboratories. Participants analyzed the nutrients in their own laboratories (nitrite, nitrate, phosphate, and silicate) at least 5 times and reported the results. Statistical treatments were applied to the results to assess the precision for each laboratory and the discrepancy among laboratories. Most laboratories show within 10% of precision in all nutrient results. Degrees of scattering described as discrepancy among laboratories and relative percent difference values were 4~63% and 0.04~2217%, respectively. The statistical analysis shows that the difference among the laboratories may due to the systematic error rather than random error. When the results were corrected by the results of bottle 130 as a reference material, the degrees of scattering and the relative percent difference were improved significantly. As a result, since most participants show satisfactory precision for nutrient analyses, a use of reference materials which have homogeneity and stability was strongly recommended to improve the comparability of nutrient data.
A spin valve structure of Ta/NiFe/CoFe/Cu/CoFe/Ru/CoFe/FeMn/Ta which has a synthetic antiferromagnet (CoFe/Ru/CoFe), was fabricated by using a magnetron sputtering system. The thickness and composition of magnetic free and pinned layers affect the magnetic properties such as exchange interaction strength of each layer and so on. Even though Rutherford Backscattering Spectrometry (RBS) has advantages of quantitative and non-destructive analysis, it is almost impossible to determine the thickness and composition of magnetic thin films using lBS because of its poor mass resolution for a higher atom number (Z>20). In this study, quantitative analysis of the element composition and thickness for the spin valve sample was performed by combining both Proton Induced X-ray Emission Spectrometry (PIXE), which is one of element specific analysis techniques, and grazing-exit RBS with a highly improved depth resolution and absolute quantitative analysis. For the quantitative analysis, standardization of PIXE was carried out with NiFe, CoFe, and FeMn layers, which are one of constituent layers of spin valve films. Through PIXE standardization and the aid of PHE experimental results of the spin valve sample, ire overlapped signal in a grazing-exit RBS spectrum were successfully resolved and the thickness of the Ru layer was determined with a resolution of ∼1 .

In this paper, the RCS analysis of the 10m unmanned surface vehicles was performed, and the factors of RCS increase were analyzed. Modeling techniques by transforming a geometric shape can reduce the RCS area, which can be used to develop stealth unmanned surface vehicles. In order to reduce the RCS, the existing Top Mast part was moved 1m to the tail part, the 5 degree tilt angle was moved below 0.5 m, and additional guided walls were installed to minimize the influence on the center and surrounding corner reflecting structures. As a result of comparing and analyzing the RCS analysis value with the existing model, it can be seen that the reduced countermeasure model is -3.79 dB lower than the existing model for all elevations. In particular, it can be seen that the strong scattering phenomenon is substantially removed in the region except the sacrificial angle region. In addition, it can be seen that in the case of -5m to 2m where the guide wall is added, the reflected signal is improved up to 20 to 40 dB or more, so that it does not appear on the 2D ISAR image. RCS analysis of unmanned surface vehicles explained the process of analyzing and identifying problem location through distance profile analysis and ISAR image analysis.

Noise pollution poses significant challenges to human well-being and marine ecosystems. It is primarily caused by the flow around ships and marine installations, emphasizing the need for accurate noise evaluation of flow noise to ensure environmental safety. Existing flow noise analysis methods for underwater environments typically use a hybrid method combining computational fluid dynamics and Ffowcs Williams-Hawkings acoustic analogy. However, this approach has limitations, neglecting near-field effects such as reflection, scattering, and diffraction of sound waves. In this study, an alternative using direct method flow noise analysis via the lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) is incorporated. The LBM provides a more accurate representation of the underwater structural boundaries and acoustic wave effects. Despite challenges in underwater environments due to numerical instabilities, a novel DM-TS LBM collision operator has been developed for stable implementations for hydroacoustic applications. This expands the LBM's applicability to underwater structures. Validation through flow noise analysis in pipe orifice demonstrates the feasibility of near-field analysis, with experimental comparisons confirming the method's reliability in identifying main pressure peaks from flow noise. This supports the viability of near-field flow noise analysis using the LBM.
Neutron induced prompt gamma activation analysis (PGAA) offers a nondestructive, sensitive and relatively rapid method for the determination of trace and major elements and is proven to be convenient for online analysis of minerals, metals, coal, cement, petrochemical, coating, paper as well as many other materials and products. The technique has found many uses in medicine, industry, research, security and the detection of contraband items. This report reviews the present status and future trends of the PGAA techniques. Requirements for the system are neutron source, high resolution HPGe detectors with a high-voltage power supply, an amplifier, analog-to-digital converter, and a multichannel analyzer for the detection and measurement of prompt ${\gamma}$-ray emit form the neutron capture elements. Introducing a ${\gamma}$-${\gamma}$ coincidence system also improves the quality of the ${\gamma}$-ray spectrum by suppressing the background created from the Compton scattering of high energy prompt ${\gamma}$-rays. A PGAA system using a $^{252}Cf$ neutron source is currently under construction for the on-line measurement of several elements in aqueous samples at KAERI. The system can be applied for the detection of chemical weapons and explosives as well as various narcotics.
