  • We characterize proper biharmonic anti-invariant surfaces in 3-dimensional generalized (${\kappa}$, ${\mu}$)-manifolds with constant mean curvature by means of the scalar curvature of the ambient space and the mean curvature. In addition, we give a method for constructing infinity many examples of proper biharmonic submanifolds in a certain 3-dimensional generalized (${\kappa}$, ${\mu}$)-manifold. Moreover, we determine 3-dimensional generalized (${\kappa}$, ${\mu}$)-manifolds which admit a certain kind of proper biharmonic foliation.

  • This paper describes an analysis of the three-dimensional eddy current problems by the finite element method using magnetic vector potential and electric scalar potential. The finite element formulation uses first-order shape functions and tetrahedral elements. The validity of this formalation is ensured as the result of the sphere conductor model problem in a sinusoidal magnetic field.

  • This paper describes the design of elliptic curve cryptographic (ECC) coprocessor over binary fields for the If card. This coprocessor is implemented by the shift-and-add algorithm for the field multiplication algorithm. And the modified almost inverse algorithm(MAIA) is selected for the inverse multiplication algorithm. These two algorithms is merged to minimize the hardware size. Scalar multiplication is performed by the binary Non Adjacent Format(NAF) method. The ECC we have implemented is defined over the field GF(2$^{163}$), which is a SEC-2 recommendation[7]..

  • Using modern techniques from scientific computing and numerical analysis, natural phenomena or scientific experiment can be simulated effectively with a computer and used for computer graphics, for example as special effects for the film industry, manufacturing the thin film, multi-phase simulation and image processing. The Level Set method can make those things happen without a lot of difficulties. This method was devised by Osher and Sethian(1988) to represent dynamically moving interfaces as the zero level set of a scalar function that evolves in time. Since then, many researchers have worked on many applications using a Level Set Method. I will give a talk about the applications of the Level Set Method.

  • A computational method for the 3 dimensional electro-magnetic induction problems has been developed. The proposed method is capable of modeling the eddy current and analyzing its characteristics using only scalar potential. A benchmark model of asymmetrical conductor with a hole is analyzed to verify the application of the developed method. The calculated value of magnetic flux density are compared with the measured value, and the results indicate that the developed method is valid.

  • Recently, we have many kinds of picture format and display, and resizing (scaling) of picture becomes important. In this processing, quality of picture depends on re-sizing method. For this, some methods to improve the PSNR have been proposed. However, subjective picture quality is more important. Especially, degradation caused by re-sizing, such as jaggy (aliasing) and ringing, should be reduced. To solve them, we have proposed the method using directional adaptive interpolation. To improve the performance of this method, we consider the shape analysis this time. In the proposed method, directional adaptive processing is applied for pure edge only. In the texture area and flat area, 8 tap re-sampling filter is used. As the results of processing, the reductions of jaggy and incorrect interpolated pixels are recognized. The subjective picture quality of proposed method is significantly better than 8-tap re-sampling which gives good PSNR.

  • Nodal transport methods are studied for the solution of two dimensional discrete-ordinates, simplified even-parity transport equation(SEP) which is known to be an approximation to the true transport equation. The polynomial expansion nodal method(PEN) and the analytic function expansion nodal method(AFEN)which have been developed for the diffusion theory are used for the solution of the discrete-ordinates form of SEP equation. Our study shows that while the PEN method in diffusion theory can directly be converted without complication, the AFEN method requires a theoretical modification due to the nonhomogeneous property of the transport equation. The numerical results show that the proposed two methods work well with the SEP transport equation with higher accuracies compared with the conventional finite difference method.

  • A new and interesting task in statistics is to effectively analyze functional data that frequently comes from advances in modern science and technology in areas such as meteorology and biomedical sciences. Functional linear regression with scalar response is a popular functional data analysis technique and it is often a common problem to determine a functional association if a functional predictor variable affects the scalar response in the models. Recently, Kong et al. (Journal of Nonparametric Statistics, 28, 813-838, 2016) established classical testing methods for this based on functional principal component analysis (of the functional predictor), that is, the resulting eigenfunctions (as a basis). However, the eigenbasis functions are not generally suitable for regression purpose because they are only concerned with the variability of the functional predictor, not the functional association of interest in testing problems. Additionally, eigenfunctions are to be estimated from data so that estimation errors might be involved in the performance of testing procedures. To circumvent these issues, we propose a testing method based on fixed basis such as B-splines and show that it works well via simulations. It is also illustrated via simulated and real data examples that the proposed testing method provides more effective and intuitive results due to the localization properties of B-splines.

  • We have extended the source projection analytic nodal discrete ordinates method (SPANDOM) for more flexible applicability in analysis of hexagonal assembly cores. The method (SPANDOM-FH) does not invoke transverse integration but instead solves the discrete ordinates equation analytically after the source term is projected and represented in hybrid form of high-order polynomials and exponential functions. SPANDOM-FH which treats a hexagonal node as one node is applied to two fast reactor benchmark problems and compared with TWOHEX. The results of comparison indicate that the present method SPANDOM-FH predicts accurately $k_eff$ and flux distributions in hexagonal assembly cores. In addition, SPANDOM-FH gives the continuous two dimensional intranodal scalar flux distributions in a hexagonal node. The reentering models between TWOHEX and SPANDOM were also compared and it was confirmed that SPANDOM's model is more realistic. Through the results of benchmark problems, we conclude that SPANDOM-FH has the sufficient accuracy for the nuclear design of fast breeder reactor (FBR) cores with hexagonal assemblies.
